As someone who has had this happen to me (I was the one at fault) during a time when I didn't have a lot of money... Fucking thank you. Thank you.

"Intimate partner violence" is not close to being the entirety of rapes that occur. Next.

Maybe it isn't as much of a problem when it's done to a guy because men don't get raped anywhere near as often as women do when they pass out drunk? I can see that didn't occur to the brilliant enlightened gentlesirs in here, though.

Double majored in philosophy and sociology and then went on to get a Masters in Sociology of Law. Was going to go to law school but fuck working for the man. I'm no expert, but it's safe to say I know more about sociology and philosophy and law (and a variety of other social sciences that I've studied on my own) than the vast majority of people, and again, your comment is laughable.

I aced almost all my philosophy courses, got a degree in it (with an emphasis in ethics, law, and politics) and then went on to take the LSAT and score in the top 10%. I have great respect for Sociology. I lol @ your dumb ass comment.

Did you read my OP edit? I said I'd get to replying. There's a lot to reply to in here; I haven't even read most of it yet.

They only used Czechs in the sample in this study, so your sarcasm here is missing its mark. It's entirely possible that a propensity for being attracted to slim waists is a social construct prevalent in cultures that have food in relative abundance. I was curious when I read the headline in the OP, because it's obvious that in the countries most of us come from the findings are true. The only thing that'd make this finding interesting is whether it was shown to be universal. or at the least pre…

C'mon guys, 8 downvotes in response to my other post and no one replied to my comment. I'm just tryin to keep TRP honest and arguments like this aren't conducive to that.

There's a lot wrong with this. First, claims against impossible beauty standards are opposed to the impossible beauty standards portrayed in the media, wherein the cream of the crop of women are not only exclusively shown but photoshopped, made up, etc. to a point where if one pays any attention to advertising, they're inculcated with a norm of perfection that the vast majority of women can't ever compare to. It isn't about impossible beauty standards of women vs. women, it's impossible beauty s…

LMAO, you have to understand how it came across to us readers opening a thread "Getting ready to black knight a high school girl" then reading that you were a high school teacher. Took a paragraph or two to dispel my suspicions

I'm not positing there are never differences in genetics between people. Differences in genetics significant enough to reliably produce significant levels of criminality across races without the confounding effect of environmental factors is what I'm arguing against. I haven't been following the thread, but I don't even have to to rebut your comment: I said socioeconomic as well as environmental and structural factors come into play. Consider these two studies, of which I've pulled out two diffe…

Because I'm not a racist. While crime statistics are known to be higher for certain minority races, this doesn't emerge logically out of some inferiority or propensity to criminality on the part of those minority groups, the implication or stating of which would rightly be considered hate speech. Rather the elevated levels of crime can be, as others here have pointed out, attributed to a number of other socioeconomic, environmental, structural factors. Stating that the numbers are higher for min…

What makes you think your sociology prof wouldn't A. be roughly aware of such stats or B. not be able to provide a sociological, structural explanation to it that doesn't accede to anything that would be involved in hate speech? I'm not sure what exactly your post is trying to say, but it seems slightly racist in an idiotic way, and anti- Sociology in an idiotic way. Care to explain?

How do you know the dude she left him for was an alpha? Maybe your biological father was just a piece of shit? Wouldn't your biological father - who impregnated your mother - be the alpha there, having passed on his seed?

This is such horse shit ... instead of just waiting until her lover was there to get the champagne glasses out of the kitchen, she "hid" them in their probably commonly shared closet? Ok.jpg. He managed to get all those people to walk into her bedroom as a surprise at the exact time she was getting nailed? Yeah ok...

nrjk (who replied to my comment as well) put the response to this well. The girl gets something out of the man giving sex.

(1) the man is sexually interested in the woman and (foolishly) provides the woman with substantial benefits normally only conferred within the context of a sexual relationship, (1) the woman is romantically interested in the man and (foolishly) provides the man with sex that's normally only conferred within the context of a romantic relationship, and (2) the man, in turn, contributes little or nothing to the "fuckship". Isn't the man contributing sex?

Having trained at a couple different gyms and having met many fighters at various levels, I agree and disagree with this. I don't think you can make such a statement so simply. On the on hand, the vast majority of even pro fighters are social nobodies, their "status" is next to nothing. Given how unrewarding monetarily the fight game is, many have to work a full time job and then train a lot and thus don't have a lot of spare time, many are uneducated, lacking that prestige, and a lot really are…
