Thanks for the recalibration. I don't agree with everything on here, nor is that the point of this sub. But I do appreciate this being a modern day locker room where guys can constructively get laughed at and then provide insight. I'll STFU and go lift.

I agree completely. BPD wasn’t the reason the relationship failed certainly. I played a large role in that and recognized as much. But it also was an issue. More so how I realized I didn’t want to live anymore. I actually read a book on how to be in a relationship with someone with BPD. It is hard. And yes, definitely happening.

OYS # 4 Age: 35, 1 child with previous LTR of 4.5 yrs. 6’1”, 195 lbs. Read: NMMNG x2, MMSLP, TMAP, WISNIFG, TWOTSM This is my first OYS since I think December. I made a stupid post and got a 2 week break. It was a good thing. Things have changed a lot, for the better since then. Physical: Again, I splurged and put together a really nice garage gym that would allow me to do everything I need to. I have continued lifting 3x a week and running another 2-3x a week. My weight has only dropped a coupl…

OYS # 3 Age: 35, 1 child with previous LTR of 4.5 yrs. 6’1”, 195 lbs. Read: NMMNG x2, MMSLP, TMAP. Reading WISNIFG. Physical: Continuing to make progress. Losing weight slowly (using a 7 day moving average). Took previous advice and broke down and purchased some more equipment for my garage gym. Bought a squat stand with pull up bar, additional flat bench, barbell and some plates. (I can only load to 205 with the plates in stock, which is fine for now as I have been dealing with a low back issue…

COVID has taught us one thing. If you had your shit together, especially financially (and didn't own a tourism/in person service business), you really had a chance to grow. I'm in the best place I have been in my life financially. But I didn't get there overnight, I was aggressively paying off debt BEFORE COVID so when it actually hit I had no debt but the mortgage. It wasn't sexy, it was making a decision and acting over a period of time to make it happen. It's easy to create an abundance menta…

I guess so. Back squatting 300 while only lifting since march is impressive. If you never benched and started in March then 205 isn't concerning. I'm just shocked at your other numbers for only lifting for less than a year.

Yes, this. you "HAVE TO get a substantial pay raise" is a great goal to have, but not a way to live. Think of it as "You are one minor crisis away from being broke!" What will you do if your car breaks down, get hit with a $5k medical bill, water heater blows up and floods your basement? Financial stress is real and a strain on the relationship. Get that shit in order, make some tough choices and you will be more relaxed, hold frame. Your wife will also know you aren't stressed about money, whic…

Do you have extremely long arms or something? With your other numbers, your bench seems like it should be much higher. You could switch up your routine for a few weeks and shoot that 1RM up significantly.

Agreed, killing the puppy wasn't the right phrase (and it is important for me to hear and repeat, that puppy is dead!) I need to kill the desire of reconciliation. IMO acceptance and willingness to give things another chance aren't mutually exclusive. I've accepted the reality of the situation and am responding accordingly to improve myself going forward. Perhaps time is the answer. But I can't continue to think there will be a chance to make things right as that isn't my choice. I'm working to …

OYS # 2 Age: 35, 1 child with previous LTR of 4.5 yrs. 6’1”, 196 lbs. Read: NMMNG x2, MMSLP, TMAP. Reading WISNIFG. Physical: I’ll start here as it is where I am making the most progress. Again, I’ve continued lifting but my main focus is losing weight and cutting fat. I am working out 5-6 days a week with 2-3 days lifting and the rest running/cycling. I have been mixing up my running, slow long runs, hills, fast 800M intervals, and have really felt a lot of improvement. Probably a combination o…

Understood about consequences. That comment wasn't meant as a gripe about having my child. I would have him everyday if given the option. It's simply a piece of the puzzle to work with now. I appreciate your other comments. You are right, my perception of the environment is likely not what reality is, and my reactions to those perceptions are likely making it worse. I need to focus on my own positive energy and projecting that out to everyone else. As for change, yes, I had been somewhat dissati…

Lots of truth there. I've noticed a change in him, more whining and constantly crying for whichever parent isn't present at the time. Fighting around him is one of the reasons we both knew a change was needed, we just didn't agree on what that change would be. She has called me several times frustrated because she can't handle him while he's crying for daddy. I've done well to not take the bait and blame her for the situation and say I told you so. I believe I want my family. I'm mid 30s and hav…

I'm 100% aware I have zero control over what she does or doesn't do. I control myself. I'm struggling to move past wanting her back. I've accepted us not being together as a real outcome. Kids change things. I know I'm not the first or last to go through it. But when your child is confused and constantly asking where mommy is, saying forget her I'm moving on is hard. With that said, I fully understand that is my only option at this point, saying and believing is different than doing. Meanwhile I…

OYS # 1 Age: 35, her 29 (I know). 6’1”, 198 lbs. Read: NMMNG x2, MMSLP, other sidebar material Reading: TMAP Background: 4.5 yr. LTR with one child (3 y.o.). ILYBINILWY 2.5 months ago following a huge fight. LTR moved out 1.5 months ago. Huge fight centered around my lack of commitment (engagement) and her essentially begging for it for years. I was previously married 9 years ago for a year and a half (her choice and no kids thankfully), so it was essentially a more difficult breakup. It was all…
