The following is the form of white-knighting I know the best. There are other forms as well, and others have talked about them. He believes women are inherently deserving of protection, and it's his duty to protect her. This attitude was (at least to some degree) promoted in some of the Christian groups I was part of/Christian literature I read in my youth. "It's a man's god given duty to protect and serve his wife and to a lesser degree women in general." In this case it probably comes from com…

I see it (and enjoy doing it) as a kind of theater play. It is good for some occasions, but not for daily life.

I agree. I was mostly answering to the question if Incelcy was one of the main reasons for terrorism. Since a lot of terrorists are married, I doubt that. (I assume married and unmarried terrorists have mostly the same motivation.) There are quite a few unmarried terrorists, so it is a "challenge" groups like Daesh face.

Think of it this way, would they be a terrorist if they have a family? Many terrorists do have a family. (See my other comment in this thread.)

Many terrorist, including suicide bombers, are married. Example 1: Abu Maaz al-Janoubi, aka Saad bin Saleh, was married with eight children and perpetrated an SM on behalf of Al Qaeda in Iraq in Al-Qaim. Two days before the attack, he contacted his wife to tell her goodbye. His wife told him that he "should not let any of the beautiful girls [of heaven] enter his house before her." According to the narrator, "this was encouraging for him. The heroic operation resulted in killing thirty-one Ameri…

That's definitely not what I'd consider feminist advice, it's fairly neutral overall. It is definitely gender neutral, but I'd say it does follow some underlying feminist principles. Here's some for-women advice that I'm referring to. A lot of it turns men into pathetic betas that end up disgusting the women they're with. Well, that is different from the feminist advice (be it for men, or women or both) that I was exposed to. (Is Glamour even explicitly feminist?) I'll have some imaginary femini…

Here is an example of the feminist advice I've encountered, in this case about online dating. It is directed at a woman (I think), but I can follow it as a man just as well. In my experience it works. (Though I've been wondering for some time if I was just lucky to stumble on the right feminist websites and to avoid the detrimental ones.)
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/15 05:10 PM

Yes, but I think this is primarily because of poor communication from feminists. When feminists give dating/relationship advice, you have to listen to the advice they give to women. The advice they give to men ought to be put under "other things to keep in mind".

It sounds like you want for men to adopt the feminist-centric mode of handling relationships, irrespective of whether that makes those men happy or better off. No, that isn't what I want. I do like the feminist approach to relationships (as I understand it) quite a bit and recommend it to others from time to time. But how one approaches relationships is ultimately a personal matter and everyone has to see what works best for them. (That's why I have much less of a problem with Red Pill as a dati…

I'm not sure if I understand this sentence correctly: It sounds like you're more happy with the concept than if it works or not. Could you rephrase it? (Sorry for the stupid question.)

Yeah, unfortunately. I've seen another new subreddit I had put hopes in die shortly afterwards (completely unrelated to gender stuff). There isn't much one can do besides hoping it will be different this time, and participating.

I was wondering if a place about male issues that works from a feminist framework existed. It does and that is great.

The whole point of focusing on biology is that it is universal. But you already said that different cultures manage biology differently. And it seems pretty obvious to me that the sexual strategies that promise the most success differ from society to society. For example, in many societies "pumping and dumping" could get you killed, while in others it is a valid strategy. If TRP is really based on (sound) biology, then yes, it will help you increase your success changes in every society. A bit. …

Well, if we want to make more general claims, I'd say that humans have both polygamous and monogamous tendencies. Resources, society etc may favor one or the other.

Oh My God! its Learning! Do you seriously think Blue Pillers think there are no biological differences between men and women? my focus on TRP is the descriptive power, so I would say that you are much more red than you would like to admit (like all of BP). Well, my focus has mostly been on TRP's descriptive power as well. I don't think TRP describes reality (as it is today) very well. Yes! YES! this whole section is absolute GOLD. This is exactly what PPD should be all about: using the same biol…

very good. Now which type of behavior is more consistent across cultures? The biological ones, obviously. (Though don't underestimate cultural spread, kissing on the mouth for example spread culturally.) not even a concept at the time. Pick a better explanation. Hypergamy is easily observable. If a father does not choose a husband for his daughter, she will naturally go after the alpha and get pumped and dumped. Better explanation: Hypergamy of the father. By arranging the marriage between his d…

I highly doubt most people need their hands held on every thought and action until a peer-reviewed study comes along confirming optimality. That's true. But on this subreddit I've come to feel the need for scientific studies much stronger than elsewhere, because many of my personal experiences seem so at odds with the experiences of most red pillers that there would be no way to tell who is right on experience alone. One of many examples for a believe related to gender dynamics that I came to wi…

it does not overwrite, it manages biology. as I mentioned, nurture is built on top of nature. Okay, so society manages biology in ways that create behaviors that are entirely different from our evolved behavior. designed to manage female hypergamy. How do you know that? How do you know they didn't evolve to create genetic mixing between tribes so the tribes internal genpool doesn't become to limited. (Just to give another biological explanation.) agricultural societies have marketplaces. Well, h…

What we need is to focus on biological Facts Society overwrites biology all the time. Look at arranged marriage: There is (as far as I know) no single species in which parents have their offspring mate to facilitate an alliance. Look at food: There are people who, instead of hunting or gathering food, sit in an office all day in front of a screen because they will get numbers in their bank account which they can convert into green paper that can be exchanged for food in a place that doesn't even…

Part of feminism is to unconsciously put women's needs above your own, One of the messages I got from feminism was "it is okay to be selfish (but don't be an asshole)". I mean, yes, they were mostly saying that to women, but they were also saying "women are people". So I just assumed it applied to men too. (I haven't changed my mind about that, I think that most feminists would agree with what I just wrote. But I know many men got different messages from feminism.)

Cheers. Well in fairness to the ladies, sounds like college boys and girls in general have ludicrous standards. Top 85% of physical attractiveness? Give me a break everyone feels they're entitled to a 9 out of 10 lol Yep. If these numbers represent reality, everyone less attractive than a 7 is mostly out of luck in college. I find it very weird that women need a relatively high status man, just for freaking casual sex. Suggests social proof and LMS give off dom. vibes which make them horny. Well…

I think the Agreeable Alpha concept might actually be worth looking into further. I've found a study that looks into dominance (and agreeableness) in mating and attraction (link). But it is getting late, so not today.

I think the fact that they only studied college students is a more significant sampling bias, but if you want to have the full range of sample bias, here you go :p The sample consisted of 72 (32 men, 40 women, average age = 18.9 years) undergraduate students [at California State University, L.A.] who participated for course credit. They were Caucasian (56.9%), Latino/a (15.3%), Asian (13.9%), and African American (13.9%). All were heterosexual, and the majority were sexually experienced (77.8%) …

Self report, so not from any intellectual or scientific body? No university? No, it is of course form a scientific body (California State University, Los Angeles). "Self Report" just means that they were asked "What would your ideal partner look like?" and "How much would you be willing to compromise?", instead of observing who they pick as their actual partner choices over a long time. Basically described AFs to a tee. I wouldn't say so entirely. "Alpha" carries the element of social dominance,…

Wow, that is, like, ten or twenty different studies you need to control for all these variables. (Should I understand the "Yes, I do" as "both"= you want to know about ideal and actual partners as well as hook-ups and LTRs?) Okay, so here is a study that might be interesting: Men and women were asked about there ideal partner and then how far they were willing to compromise. Unfortunately, the study is behind a paywall. Jon Snow is a classic natural alpha (aesthetics, rugged, broody, fiercely independent, doesn't put pussy on a pedestal) He is also clueless (about many things), a virgin for 2.5 seasons, gets dominated by a women/his girlfriend, and then gets oneitis (which lasts even after she has died). If Jon Snow is alpha, and Chad Thundercloak (is it really Thundercock, I always thought it was -cloak), then what meaning does Alpha have besides physical attractiveness? Though, since this is a science thread,…

I'm talking about movies or books that are written specifically for women, I see. Well, I don't know much about media aimed at women, tbh. Everything I can say about it comes from cursory reading of people talking about media aimed at women, so I'm not sure how useful that is. the guys are universally high status, dominant, overrides her. To elaborate I fully believe that the vast majority of Western women, and especially young attractive women who the PUA sub are pandering for, are socially and culturally conditioned to seek out high SMV and relatively masculine men. That seems testable, if you define the parameters a little better. 1.) How do you define SMV? 2.) How you define masculine men? (Are you talking about facial features, behaviors, something else?) 3.) Do you want to know the ideal partner, or do you what to know what…

I would say that marketing data reflects human psychology as well.. I agree with that. But we have to be careful to use actual data and not what we perceive as popular. and what has become of this? movies show main character guys who are ripped, hot, rich, womanizing. The more other girls have liked the main character before, the more the women in the audience want him too. When I think about characters popular with women, the first to come to my mind is Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. He might b…

Well, there is evolutionary psychology and then there is evolutionary psychology. Here is a thread from AskSocialScience on that topic. Though most Blue Pillers probably only see internet EvoPsych.

If you know it's a straw man, why are you arguing against it? It isn't a straw man, it is well within the range of TRP interpretations. As far as I can tell, there are differences between Rollo and Pook, for example. (I get "there is no room for error" vibes from Rollo, but not from Pook. That's why I wrote "TRP can be interpreted differently".)

Oh, this is great. Looking how TRP compares to scientific findings is sometimes really interesting and sometimes quite frustrating. (Sooo many paywalls.) Okay, first, there is psychology. More specifically, empirical psychology. If one wants to find out what creates attraction, that is the way to go. Empirical research should normally disclose their methods, so while cultural influences are always there, it should be possible to avoid or at least notice them. This Wikipedia article probably give…

I wonder how many RPer don't make it. How many burn out on the way? Also, how many of those who are somewhat successful aren't really happy? But I don't have any statistics on that, so it remains speculation. But I believe that if you invest in your SMV, it's unlikely that a situation such as hypergamy will occur to begin with. Doesn't this go against the very concept of hypergamy? I thought hypergamy meant "you ALWAYS have to be her best available option, or she WILL branch-swing"?

Can I write what concepts I think would be most damaging to me (as a men) if I followed the Red Pill? (It's probably close to reasoning by fee-fee, but perhaps there is still some value in it.) Though, it aren't really the concepts that would be most damaging. It is the implicit messages these concepts send: Too many rules and too little room for error There are so many things you have to do when interacting with women. Someone like me would end up obsessing about everything I did wrong in male-…

Sorry I haven't answered earlier. Depends on how you interpret it. The very common "20% of all men fuck 80% of all women and the rest gets nothing" admittedly is patently wrong. Good to hear we agree there. Out of curiosity, what would be interpretations that might still be true? No, [AF/BB is] actually true. Heck, it's even part of the biological blueprint of women. Well, it depends on what you mean. As a biological drive it is possibly true. But I am certain that many women don't act on it and…

I wish I could. The problem is, that there are dozens of different dynamics at play and without scientific research it is really hard to tell what is common and what are exceptions. I tried to find an overall description that is supported by actual research, but up until now mostly found detail studies. So the following description is only my best guess: Most people find their partner within their social circle. Most people are serially monogamous, they have a few (3-5) LTRs that fail until they…

Red Pill makes says a lot of things about how the SMP works, how attraction works, what women want, what men want, etc. Most of these are mostly wrong. (I'm talking about concepts like 80/20 rule, AF/BF, SMV, Feminine Imperative, Hypergamy, etc.) However, the men who follow Red Pill a) shape themselves in a way that is attractive to some women and b) more importantly, put themselves more visibly on the market. So it works. Other strategies would also work.

My take has been for some time: Red Pill Theory is mostly wrong, but in practice Red Pill does present a dating strategy/sexual strategy that works.

That is good to hear. True, it doesn't deny RP theory, but it is still important. Please do write, I've skimmed Manson but I'm yet to read Models actually. Okay, I haven't read Manson, what I wanted to write about vulnerability is based on this TED video, which isn't really about dating/relationships. One of the core points is: The people who are the happiest are happy in part because they are vulnerable and can allow themselves to be vulnerable. The people who are the unhappiest are unhappy in …

I was about to write about vulnerability, but from skimming Manson's site you probably already know that stuff. So if I may ask: Outside of the dating context, do you have people in your life you can show vulnerability to? Do you have women in your life you can show vulnerability to? (I know that unfortunately this mostly comes down to luck, so no blame if you don't.)
