Color me surprised that you and a guy at a hardware store don't know that people use copper pipes for plumbing.

Why are you more worried about being right then you are the truth. It's not like I said some unconfirmed wild conspiracy about the drain cleaner industry. I quoted the article and then gave you a link showing that it is, indeed sold pretty much anywhere they sell drain cleaner. Don't take your ignorance out on me.

Why are you trying to argue this with me. Like I said, Google it. Here, I did it for you... And not only can you buy it at hardware store Walmart sells it to along with hundreds of other retailers. https://www.google.com/search?q=hydrochloric+acid+drain+cleaner&safe=off&prmd=svin&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj2_ZmJwYXZAhVD0WMKHYf-AsYQ_AUIESgB&biw=360&bih=612

Google hydrochloric acid drain cleaner, there's a large variety. Acid is safe for most plastic pipes, it's the metal pipes it'll eat. Presumably the acid is diluted enough by the time it hits the sewer pipes it's irrelevant? I don't know, I'm not a metallurgist or chemist.

The article says the liquid contained sulphuric acid. It depends on the type, some use strong bases, others use acids.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
