It's also because it wasn't specifically made to appeal to feminists. When you just write a movie that happens to have a female protagonist, you can write a believable character. That's one with flaws. If you try and describe the characters, you will be able to think of multiple adjectives such as "intelligent", "resourcesful", "strong", "abrasive", "short-tempered", etc. When you get lazy and just try and write a script to appeal to feminists, your women will not have flaws because flaws will b…

Depends. I used to work for a company that provided trade show services for a number of clients (design the booth and experience, build + source, negotiate with venues, get it all on site, then staff it with our staff). Our reporting at the end of every shift included sections that asked for feedback like this and it was passed back to the client—generally high level in their marketing department, as that was the level we were dealing with them at. As long as you’re polite and keep it brief, I’d…

That guy on the bus? He was schizophrenic and was having an... incident. He was released because after time in a high security treatment facility he was found to be responding as expected to treatment. He was willing and cooperative with regards to continuing treatment. He was released under supervision and the court was ensuring he was taking his medication and being evaluated regularly. During that release he joined a church and made a lot of connections in the community which gave him the sup…

Us changing in about 60 seconds flat, her and her mom taking like 20 minutes. I asked how on earth it could take that long to change her clothes, she asked how we got through so fast, I described the steps involved... She realized at no point did I mention having to haul all my shit into a cubicle. Sorry, nothing scandalous.

Honestly? They probably think you're gonna go into some nice little shower-curtain stalls and change in there. My wife was confused then horrified when I went swimming with her and her parents and she found out her dad and I had been naked in front of each other. Apparently most of the women's change rooms she goes into just have little stalls that all the women use. She always just assumed the men's were the same.

I was surprised too! I figured for sure they were in BC.

Not only do they donate to feed the homeless, they’re US made by developmentally disabled people. Jesus. Not that any of that really influences my decision. I’m just excited to find something more palatable to replace my girlfriend’s headache-inducing shit with. ... or not. They don’t ship to Canada. Oh well.

I mean, he specifically says "around the world" and the context was a discussion with a woman from Pakistan. I don't think this needs an "in his defense", that's just pretty obviously what's being referred to here.

That's a 5 second conversation. If that won't do, give the driver a note to read at their earliest convenience. This is a personal pet peeve of mine as I regularly get stuck behind a bus that waits for some kid who is never ready on time, and holds up traffic for several minutes. If I parked in the middle of the road at rush hour for five minutes and held up traffic somebody would probably follow me home and light my house on fire. It's not suddenly more appropriate because you have kids.

Text it to yourself. At least timestamps it, shows intent to commit it, and probably leaves some sort of record with the phone company's billing department.

Additionally, did he have any sort of lock on his phone? Having the author presumably authenticated with his passcode or fingerprint would provide another clue as to who wrote it.

Well, the original idea is that the government shouldn't be able to charge and/or convict people without telling us who they are and why they're doing it. If they could, then it creates a situation where the government can take you from your home in the middle of the night, hold you in jail, convict you, and then keep you in jail for the next 20 years and no one would ever have to know what happened or why they did it. Which is basically Soviet Russia. I definitely agree that were I in that situ…

They could absolutely put more places to pee in a woman's washroom... if you're cool just having a bunch of closely spaced toilets along a wall, or troughs. Stalls take up more room, you get less things to pee in. Pretty simple. From a young age as a boy you're gonna just have to deal with the fact that you really don't get any privacy when you're peeing. It's uncomfortable. You learn to live with it. But if we did the same thing with girls' washrooms, there'd be hell to pay.

For posting here or in other "troublesome" subreddits. Despite the fact that banning users based on their participation in other subreddits is supposedly against site wide rules. And one of the mods of xx is an admin.

Never mind competitors, if shampoo cost too much half of men would probably just use the same bar soap they use to wash everything else.

Yes, because the Canadian justice system tries to be more about rehabilitation than retribution. That guy was obviously mentally ill and the court, unsurprisingly, found the same. He was put in a high security psychiatric facility. After diagnosis and initial success at treatment, he was released but has staff that visit him daily to deliver medication and ensure he takes it. He's part of a church group, goes to a gym, and is trying to get some post-secondary education. He basically leads a norm…

Didn't even read your post, but if you're gonna preemptively whine about downvotes I'm gonna downvote on principle. Just wanted you to know I wasn't downvoting because of your apparently edgy opinion. HTH HAND

Hate to rain on the circlejerk a bit, but this isn't exactly the posterchild for a broken justice system. In many places they don't look at justice as "vengeance and retribution" but as "rehabilitation and risk to society". This woman had no previous criminal history, a good job, and a family and she got high and did something really fucked up. She knows what she did is fucked, and they don't think she's going to do it again. What societal benefit is there to shoving her in jail for a couple of …

A bit of what he said and my own understanding from being stopped by every damn border official I've ever run into... Basically they're looking for supporting evidence for whatever you've told them. Their job is to decide if you're full of shit, and your phone is a great place to either support or disprove your story - and let them know where to look further. If you said you drove down and visited friends, went to a beach, stopped at a few museums, and drove back... then having some texts being …

There's kind of a general difference in attitude between Canadian security personnel and US security personnel. In the US the general term is "Law Enforcement Officers". In Canada it's an "Officer of the Peace" or "Peace Officer". As a totally random example, when I crossed the border into the US, CBP put me in a windowless room that didn't open from the inside, asked me to empty my pockets, interrogated me, then told me I could put my stuff back in my pockets. During the interrogation, they'd s…

Capitalism at work, yo. If someone said "Hey dudes, here's a $40 bottle of shampoo." we'd go "That's cool, we'll just wash our hair with our hand soap." or something. Those expensive products exist because people are willing to pay for them. However, last I checked, there wasn't anyone enforcing gender roles on the self checkout lane, so even if you don't have dangly bits you're free to go buy a $2 bottle of shampoo and use that instead.

I don't want them caring for a goldfish, let alone a nation Bombs are going off in the capital, Russians and Chinese are streaming in from the arctic North, the US is figuring they'll just blanket the country in nuclear weapons and turn the thousands of miles in between them into an irradiated wasteland so they can concentrate on the other fronts. "We need a declaration of war so we can mobilize the air force!" "I'm sniffle sorry, I just can't do it." "Thousands of people are dying every minute …

Maybe he's as sick of that chick's shit as everyone else is and wanted her to get what she wanted - a beating. It's easy enough to say "Oh, I didn't notice their body language that may have indicated a fight was about to break out, I was busy talking to students." and then take your sweet time getting between them, but you can't very well let them keep beating on each other all over the classroom until they're finished.

Yep, basically looks like how I look if I spend a year doing nothing but typing, drinking whiskey, eating doritos and masturbating. Speaking from experience.
