That is horrifying and heartbreaking.

My ex is from one of the regions that is particularly affected (though he no longer lives there) and I've actually been considering texting him because of it, so this is helpful!

And especially when she is described as beautiful but not that smart. (A lot of authors from my country have done this, in books we study in hs) Yuck. That's such a shame.

I'm not sure which said I fall on, but I really appreciate your post. I've only recently first encountered the idea of "the wall." I'm glad I did, because a male friend recently brought it up with me and I was able to recognize that he likely got it from some pretty toxic online places. I do find the original post here to be comforting, but I also think there's value in the idea of not even addressing the idea of "the wall" because it's just so incredibly goofy.

Because women are taught to prioritize grooming and doing everything in our power to make ourselves more attractive because we're taught that that much (if not all) of our value is in our physical attractiveness. Men are not conditioned to believe the same thing about themselves.

Also, I bought the magnet because I thought it was a hoot. A married friend game to my apartment, saw it, pointed at it, looked at me and said “Is this about me?” AMAZING. So much to unpack as well. Like, did he think he was treating his significant other poorly and getting away with it but the magnet made him feel called out/guilty? Or was it just general insecurity?

Redditers trying to claim that Emma Watson isn't fuckable? Wasn't she like "the chosen one" on this website not too long ago? The world is such a strange place.

What about men who are devoted to you but are really infatuated with a version of you they made up in their head and not the actual you?

I think it's fine to say that you don't want to date an alcoholic. It's one thing to tolerate someone as a human being, but people can set whatever standards/boundaries they need for what they're looking for in a significant other.

People treat diseases, don't they? Do you think someone who is an alcoholic should just give up and not even bother to try to stop drinking?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
