trrruuue. a lot of these guys seem to be somewhere on the road to correcting their shitty behaviour, maybe? anyway it's like they're trying to justify their crappy past behaviour by insisting they're no longer "that guy" but sensitive/caring/understanding, whatever.

Damn, this shit makes me so fucking angry. How any LVM guys have I encountered who have co-opted this "cool girl libfeminism" and try to tell me what I should and shouldn't like in bed.

Yes. My situation is a little different in that I can avoid him completely and still function at work, which is good. But at first, I was leaning hard into the pickme behaviour... dressing up when I knew he'd be around, making the effort to talk after more or less NC for a few months (I mean, we did have to work together after all...) and meanwhile learn alllll about his other conquests and see him moving in on a new victim. Bleh.

Ugh God, I'm sorry this happened to you, OP. This guy sounds like trash. It happened to me too, and I needed to read this today.

Before we started seeing each other, while he was still love-bombing over text, I'd get so nervous when the talk would turn to us dating. It felt unnatural, the way it was being pushed so fast. "You hardly know me..." I'd say, but I wanted to believe he was just so interested in me and write off his impulsivity as part of his borderline-ADHD personality. But I wanted it to work so much, not necessarily for him, as he was, but the person I thought he could be, the person he was pretending to be, …

What I learned was love shouldn't feel scary. I'd never dated before and so I thought it was just my nervous, socially anxious self trying to sabotage...but my instincts weren't wrong.

Yes! I used to get dirty looks from the other women this guy was also grooming in this bizarre triangle/trapezoid (lol) situation. If only we'd been able to talk about it we could save our dirty looks for the person who deserved them...

This is so important. I've done so many mental gymnastics to try and 'win back' an LVM co-worker who I dated very briefly, and eventually losing it and calling him out on his bullshit (weird, manipulative mind games). The memory of it is a burden honestly, the pain I really put myself in while he walked on more or less unscathed.

WTF! I am so sick of guys negging like this. Do they think they're being honest and WOKE because they're down with women's lib and sex positivity? Guys try to explain our own bodies to us, our own experiences "Most relationships start out with sex." Well, I'm sorry but 1. that's not true; and 2. if you've had so many start this way, why have none of them lasted? Sex positivity also means respecting someone's choice to abstain.

So how do you cope when he seems to be putting in the effort, and then suddenly changes and becomes distant/grumpy/a LVM? I still feel really badly hurt by an experience like this (it was my first dating experience, actually). I'd thought I was being smart by waiting for "the right kind of guy" but my desperation got the better of me and I ignored my gut instinct and a few pretty vibrant red flags. I guess lesson learned: players don't have to be knockouts, they can be unkempt looking artsy type…

The only relationship I know that has lasted (so far) is my friends and her husband's. Met on Tinder a few years ago. Both had been active on it and were essentially looking for hookups, but happened to meet each other and got on at a deeper level or whatever so it blossomed into a relationship. We live in a bigger city, so the pool might be a bit better that the "guy with fish" profiles I see when I visit my parents. I'm now going with the assumption that OLD might work IF you are going into it…

A relationship of convenience. But my time is too precious to be out there fluffing someone's ego

There is that pernicious and growing chorus of WokeMen who would argue that "there's no such thing as a slut!" as it benefits them.

*Screaming* More LVM disguised as HVM! I knew a guy who was really upset about the lack of sex and turned it into a gas-lighting thing (You don't like me, you'd never have noticed me unless I pursued you....) when I had told him I wanted to go slow/I was a "virgin" (blech) etc. He was able to keep that up for about 3 dates before he started getting testy about it. His mind seemed to equate sex with actually being interested in a person. The worst part is, I gave in to it. I knew in the moment he…

Yep. Raised into it our feel from society that being uptight about not being DTF after one or two half-assed dates is somehow wrong and we just gotta "loosen up."

Yeah I've had other women tell me my anger over what happened is out of line because "He's just a messed up guy." I get that but, can't you sympathize without giving him the benefit of the doubt all the time??

This guy is fucking disgusting and his music is the fuckboy's anthem. "Montreal" is an often listened-to song by my ex-fuckboy. Romanticizes treating women like crap and then feeling all emo about how you're a tortured soul with a drug addiction.

Helllooo to the LVM who freaked out that I didn't want to fuck him every time we were together and that he'd "have to find sex elsewhere in our relationship" after seeing each other for TWO WEEKS. Felt like shit after that for a looong while.
