This, this so much. If you act like her girlfriend and then suddenly jump out with your proverbial dick in your hand, she is going to be totally spazzed out. If you acted man to woman the whole time, that would have been something totally different and she WOULD have expected it. Now it's for you to decide whether you actually want to be friends with her or not. And both are equally viable.

This is what the whole thing is about, kinda. We don't know what his Girlfriend was like, theoretically she could have had insecurities or a bad lifestyle. In any case, she seems to have crossed a line he drew and hopefully communicated and instead of being a chump and staying with her for the xth time, he stayed true to himself. Well, burn it to the ground. Ask her out and be unapologetic about it. If it works, it works, if it doesn't, remember you can always just 'next' it. That's the thing. If you act someone you're not while picking up girls, you are doing it slightly wrong. The best success comes with staying yourself, but unlocking your inner potential. Of course no one is in pickup mood 100% of the day, because it's exhausting. I once asked the same question and the best answer I got was to just never stop "gaming". game isn't about getting women, it's about being your best possible self every second of your life. It is fine to let your partner see behind the player shell and show them how nice you can be (it's a must!), but your partner is with you for whom you were when you two met, and not for what you think your spouse may want you to be.
