I love this.

Don't ever beat yourself up over this. Society actively teaches women to feel "less than" and have low self-esteem. You are good enough as you are and always deserve respect. You absolutely deserve the best.

Your mom was a boss. I agree with all of her advice. I'm in a relationship now but it wasn't until after I walked through the forest of red flags with others. If it were ever to end, I don't think I'd even be interested in dating anymore as I just don't find the exhaustion of dealing with men worth it. There are A LOT of poorly raised, self-entitled individuals that will just waste your time and worth. I'd rather just have a dog for a companion.

I've been there too. Don't be embarrassed. It was a life-lesson. Just don't look back.

First off, I want to send a virtual hug to you. You belong. You matter. You have worth. Try not to devalue yourself because of what society tells you. Society (in the West or foreign) has been structured to the advantage of men to suit their needs and retain power structures that have been developed over millennia. The hair on your legs is not reflective of your value as a human being. I can tell by your words and the sensitivity/maturity expressed in your comment that you are someone who posses…

I saw this yesterday and it made me cry. I want to give this little girl the biggest hug. She needs to be assured that she is beautiful and, more importantly, that she BELONGS.

We've all been there. And that's why we're here now. Never forget that you are ABSOLUTELY worth better.

A few years ago, I stopped communicating with a LVM who spent years playing with my emotions. A few months later, he kept texting me. I took the bait to shut him down (rather than block). I asked him to explain himself. He didn't. I wrote the paragraph. Several paragraphs actually. I poured out how he hurt me and sought an answer as to "why". His response was that he's not good at texting or explaining himself. No apology. And that was the last of our communication. Somedays I regret being that …

Yup ... that's exactly how I felt. It opened my eyes to a world that I always suspected but never had proof of. It showed me the true nature of most men.

Quick story: I was with someone that I didn't fully trust a few years ago (that's on me for getting lost in the red flag forest) and I created a fake profile on OKCupid to see if he was on there. He wasn't. But the amount of men that had hidden profiles who were suddenly messaging me to hook up was insane. I used a picture of a 19/20-year-old and every 30+ year-old creep was wanting to meet up and get a hotel room. It was disgusting. I recommend this to any woman who wants to conduct a sociologi…

I love all of your comments and feel we would be best friends in real life. Everything you state is truth (and, sadly, has been the majority of experience in my life).

I'm 39. I met a good one a few years ago (who I am still with) but if anything were to happen there, I'm not sure I would return to dating. Honestly, I'd just adopt a dog and live off the unconditional love there. The majority of men I've encountered are pigs who, I suspect, secretly hate women themselves. They are only nice when they want sex or some other benefit (cooking, cleaning). Outside of that, we are expendable commodities. F*** 'em all.

Yup. Same. I was ashamed of being judged but should have been open to being helped.

At three months, get the f out. I dated a guy for a two years. He was fit and attractive. Looks-wise, I felt he was above me and that is probably the reason I stayed longer than I should have. Anyway, one night - after sex, no less - he was complaining that he needed to go to the gym because he was getting a belly. I assured him he was perfect as he was ... and his reply to me was "of course you'd think that, look at you". This relationship was YEARS ago and yet this comment still haunts me. The…

This is the type of question/reflection that got to me as well. I started imagining my best friend telling me the same stories I shared and how I would react in trying to support her. Sometimes when we are in the eye of the storm, we can't see clearly but if the way someone is treating you would not be acceptable for someone else, then don't stand for it.

This is good advice. I often wonder what made men/dating change so much over the last few decades. My parents never had to deal with this. Is it online dating and the belief that people are disposable? Is it increased access to hardcore porn leaving men the impression that we are just commodities? Is it poor parenting? Is it a perfect storm of everything? I'm in a decent relationship now but still follow these forums because of a really bad one I was in a few years ago that mentally broke me. It…

At least you recognize the situation you are in and are trying to build your self-worth by joining this community. If you feel like you deserve better, then you absolutely do.

There have been a few times I've just continued walking and barrelled into the person on the end and I've gotten a dirty look and a "tsk". Once, I had someone say to me "you're rude". Like ... where in the heck am I supposed to go? Walk onto the street? Fly up into the air with my non-existent wings? I have a right to passage and am claiming my space. Just because someone is in a large group that all wants to exert sidewalk dominance doesn't mean they get to.

I was with a man from a very traditional culture a few years ago (Indian). He was expected to have an arranged marriage. I would ask him questions about this and he was very forward about wanting a virgin (despite himself f***ing around). When I asked him what he would do if his future wife wasn't compatible in the bedroom, he flat out stated he would want an open marriage. By outward appearances though, he acted like a decent, family-oriented human being. As an end note, the guy got married two…

I'm 39 and can concur. It doesn't get better the older you get. Men who have been raised like this (without anyone calling them out on their bullshit) will always behave like this. They just become the men you will eventually separate and divorce from because you finally realize you are better off alone than with dead weight.

Completely agree. I also hate when I walk down the street and group of people is walking towards me, shoulder-to-shoulder, and no one moves over. I've started claiming my space here and just linebacking whomever is on the end.

Scientists have discovered a new, previously undiscovered desert. Formed after reading dating profiles like this, the privates of MaidenMB were hypothesized to have dried up instantly.

I'm late to this post, but reading everything as I just joined FemaleDatingStrategy. This post spoke to me very deeply. I wish I had read it about four years ago. Would have saved me a lot of heartbreak and wasted time. It's weird because I feel as though if I wrote about my situation, people would think I was making it up ... yet, there is an entire community here of people who've experienced the EXACT. SAME. THING. The same manipulation. The same deceit. Thank you to whomever started this comm…
