Hmm I've had the opposite experiences at the speed dating events I've gone to. A lot of women there were young professional types. Maybe not a 10 but a 6-7.

I've been going to this one bar and I've been approached a few times. Which almost always takes me by surprised as I'm nothing to look at, well I'm fairly attractive but I'm also really fat (like about 320 lbs. fat, and yes I'm trying to lose weight).
