Your heart is in the right place, but it would cost too much to do what you want. Many others have tried to set up shelters for men & their children before, but have gone bankrupt a few months after opening. We must remember that in the US, it is illegal for shelters to discriminate against male DV victims, so they will discourage men from asking for help, pretend that none asked for help, or in a last resort they will give out hotel vouchers. You wont be able to get an honest answer from womens shelters as to whether they also help male victims.

I don't think that bigotry works that way, whether it is racial bigotry or gender bigotry. Bigotry is an emotional drive. That is why it is so powerful. People feel an emotion and then create logical theories to justify it. Nazis said that all Jews are rich exploiters of poor, hard working Germans. If the poor Jewish people denounced the wealthy ones, it would not stop the anti-Jewish bigotry. The only cure for bigotry is to stand up to it, not to try to redirect it to others.

I think that you do experience discrimination, but it has become so normalized that you don't recognize it. Here in Canada there is discrimination against men & White people in all government hiring. I was told not to bother to show up for a gov hiring interview. I believe that it was because I am male & white skinned. The best paid jobs here are in government especially considering the super generous benefits, but I have never landed a gov job due to discrimination against me.

Its the same in US, Canada, UK etc. Living together is called "common law marriage" here. It is just another type of marriage. They mean that you should live alone. You can go on dates but be careful.
