Off the top of my head: It's safer to meet people offline and observe them before interacting. Safety is something women prioritize more. Imo, women nowadays place less value in their relationship status than men do. When you've been receiving unwanted attention from 9, any kind of attraction doesn't feel as valuable. They don't do OLD because they aren't interested in dating in the first place. Maybe the women who do join get tired of it. At least for me, even 30 requests to go through is overw…

It's not about you, it's about the demographic on these apps. Tinder is around 70% men last time I checked; I don't know about bumble. It only makes sense that you'll get less likes/matches. I personally can't talk to more people than 5 at once so there's that. Also, when you receive a lot of likes the profiles kind of blend together so unless there's something truly unique about one, it's likely they'll just swipe left by habit. To be fair, you're not missing out on much. Online communication j…

The nature of fear is that it's irrational. You're not likely to meet a bear in a forest but if you're smart, you'd still take bear spray when camping. Either way, it's pretty dismissive to trivialize people's fears like that

Yikes. First reveling in the possibility of a global war and then being happy that even more people are dragged into the inhumane practice that is conscription. Gotta love the "we suffer so you gotta suffer too" mentality. Edit: Ah nvm, you're just a generally terrible person towards everybody, not only women

Lol don't worry, I'm ready for the downvotes whenever I come into this space. It's pretty echo chamber-y

What a strange and unconstructive response. Seems like you have an issue with me disagreeing?

I'm saying that women's desire not to see some random guy's genitals when they're just scrolling through their feed isn't too valued either. Otherwise these people would be banned. I don't think there is as much of a connection with gender-associated interpretations of consent as you think. I'm saying that being upset by people running a business, which is what OF models are doing, is unreasonable. They're not naked as that would indeed be breaking community guidelines. If you're not the target …

Through your sarcasm you're implying that a woman's mere existence is somehow related to sex. It's a false equivalency that doesn't reflect well on you

I have been using Facebook a lot, never got a single video like that. Facebook tracks your internet use outside of the platform so there's that

A woman is not sexual for existing. What are you on about?

Except that male OF creators also exist, and so do male underwear models. Men who have their genitals as profile pics proliferate on Quora of all places. It's also unreasonable to complain about advertisements of all things. In fact, I don't even perceive those as sexual. Those people are doing their job and nothing about that is arousing

I don't. In fact I think it's quite stupid to hear everyone in your life have similar experiences and not be at least a bit cautious from that moment on. The truth is, women receive conflicting messaging all the time. "Be careful but not too much since someone may take it personally. But also if you're not careful enough, what happens as a result is your fault." There was a large profile case in my country of birth where a group of college guys hosted parties at their place and invited girls ove…

I'm all for it. Greek life is frequently elitist and the associated traditions have led to way too much harm, bodily and mental

What kind of question is that? First of all, I didn't say I was a feminist even though i am in the traditional sense. Second of all, if this space is for men to agree with other men, that should've been specified in the rules. But in fact, the exact opposite is said

I don't see much of a difference between "sex specific spaces" and "Sexual assault safe spaces" as ultimately they both serve the same purpose, just under different names, one of which is more socially correct I suppose. I don't think taking it as a "men are predators" conversation is very productive. The reality is that many women are on guard around men. Rationalising it away or shaming them for it won't help. I'm not even basing my opinion off of stats as those are pointless if some people do…

No, but many women have experienced SA/harassment. Most of them experienced it from men. Women are socialized to be afraid of men, and when their experiences confirm it... Well, is it really a surprise that people choose to start these spaces? For what it's worth, if a man who was assaulted by a woman also felt more comfortable in a male-only space, I wouldn't have any problems with it. It seems like some of you are taking it as a personal offence when it's not. People have all kinds of ways of …

Right. I don't see why he felt like he was bound to have his offer considered when he brought it up instead of apologizing

Except that not every statement is an attack. That's the problem - interpreting criticism as hostility. And even so, a downvote is hardly defending yourself

Sure, that's part of it. But not always. So it's a chicken and egg problem

Because a lot of people in general are reactionary towards statements that don't portray the group they belong to in a positive light

I mean, I expected downvotes considering that this is a male dominated sub. I've only ever seen the female equivalent in response to the male one

TBF, I've seen a lot of that the other way around too so I can't help but think it's reactionary. "You would be nothing without us so appreciate us" - always coming from a guy who hasn't invented anything in his life

Maybe you should've mentioned that then. I don't think I'm that uneducated but I had no idea she had any role in government before you told me. Otherwise this post comes off as another "look at what this misandrist said, now insult her" which is pointless

Women don't owe you attraction. Your hate stems from your feeling of entitlement to it, for whatever reason

Most services are rooted in selling a false image or profiting off of people's misfortunes. Therapists - many cash grab from depressed people with no results to show. Lawyers with no passion for their job represent people in unfortunate life situations for exorbitant amounts of money. The whole concept of marketing is based on selling an embellished version of the product. And most people are able to understand that a connection you have to pay for is not real or valuable. Most understand that i…

18 y/os aren't mature at all. But most people do manage to avoid jail before they're adults. Back when I was in school, the same teens the commenter considers immature and too young for consequences, shunned seniors who pursued freshmen. There is something fundamentally wrong with that guy for being interested in a girl who's barely even a teenager, and it's not because he's a child

There's a huge difference between a 17 y/o "child" and a 13 y/o child. Do you think 17 y/os suddenly gain the maturity and understanding of consequences present in an adult once they turn 18?

OPs story is not about an almost-adult girl and a boy in middle school, now is it? Law is law, morals are morals

Your friends think he is pulling a "pedo move" because he is. 13 is MIDDLE SCHOOL, 17 is senior year. That age gap is creepy while the whole thing is illegal in many places (statutory rape)

Perhaps. English is not my first language and I sometimes miss these nuances. Still, from the phrasing it seemed to me like he was trying to portray it as more common than it actually is

I have no issue with men I don't find attractive being attracted to me. Has happened before, no big deal. As long as they're respectful about it, I appreciate it. But my point is not about attractiveness, it's exclusively about age. Young girls tend to view older guys as mentors. Meanwhile I've long viewed guys my age as equals, just as inexperienced and confused as me. Attraction from someone you view akin to a parent feels exploitative. It feels like betrayal. To me. To girls from less fortuna…

It is indeed. Most in my environment would indeed call imagining having sex with a stranger objectification but not in his I suppose

Well, yes. I didn't phrase it correctly. It is a privilege but it comes from a belief that takes away rights more easily than it grants them. Upwards mobility was possible at many points in time, as in the case of German craftsmen who came in as immigrants, black abolitionists like Douglass, and some presidents

Jackson and Lincoln are examples of poor people achieving greatness. Unlikely, sure. Impossible? By no means. Meanwhile women were pretty much locked out of the realm of politics, no matter their economic standing

"Women enjoy attention but pretend to hate it" is blatantly false as a general statement and is pretty harmful as a belief. Sure, the minority might. But the majority's actions correspond with their mindset. So if a woman says that she's uncomfortable, she probably is. Seriously, most women aren't deprived of attention so it's not flattering to have a man stare at our ass, especially since a lot of the time he happens to be our fathers' age

I was with you until you described specific examples. I have no idea how common or "normal" this is but imagining sex with strangers based on looks alone is a concept foreign to me. For me to do that, I have to have some form of connection with a person, however weak. Otherwise, they're akin to a pretty picture I didn't yet discover the meaning of. "Objectification" is a vague concept, often used by women in place of "this form of sexual attraction makes me uncomfortable." And yes, the idea that…

Societies where women were equal to men from the beginning of times exist. But they are few, and America is not one of them. Strength is in choice. The paternalistic outlook of the, say, 19th century America, did not empower women. Being sheltered from harm due to being considered weak, akin to a child (who in their right mind would torture a child?), is hardly a privilege. Being lucky enough to get married to a powerful man who loves you is the only way women had political influence over other …
