How do you even vet for this? If the wife doesn’t suspect anything at all he must be treating her well I hope…

Or maybe he told them he was going through a separation or they’re in an open relationship while she’s overseas.

I think this is a good point. It's also a chance to do self reflection and inner work, to trust yourself, your gut instinct. I think the reason some of us ignore our doubts is fear that we are wrong so we stay and wait to see. Therapy could be helpful to decipher these feelings and to find the root of it.

"Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens first met through an online dating app in March 2020. However, the latter told Texas Monthly that he did not know much about the Olympian at the time:" “I didn’t know who she was. I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.” Article Link Here Oh man he's pulling a Meghan Markle "I didn't know who the royals/Prince Harry was" ...hmmm

I learned this the hard way when I was younger. “I don’t know why you love me so much…” and “You deserve better, why are you with me?” This is him telling you he’s 1. Lacking self confidence and will seek validation in toxic ways 2. He doesn’t want to be with you but can’t bring himself to breaking it off In my experience, I found out they were cheating or sending flirtatious messages to many women.

I’ve asked men later down the line, why they ask this question in the beginning. Some say it’s a coy way to indirectly find out “What are you looking for?” Or suss out your situation ie. Whether you’re recently fresh out of a relationship, or how long you been casually dating around for… I’d be careful and be vague as possible.

Thank you for sharing. The examples under this comment thread are good reminders that there are still outstanding men. It’s easy to become cynical from bleak stories out there :/

They don't get better with time, they get better at hiding it. They will cover their tracks by demonizing past exes or triangulating you against their female "friends" so you don't think to reach out to connect the dots. His ex (who he kept manipulating and sleeping with 5 years after their relationship had ended) reached out to me to say they were sleeping together during our relationship, convincing her we were broken up or not that serious each time. She was the ex he said was supposedly "cra…

Some see examples of older men with younger women without realizing that these men are most likely richer and can maintain upkeep on themselves or have more resources in order to attract and keep younger women. Having discussed this topic with guys I've dated, they all assume that in divorces, men have it easier with more options because younger women will look up to them for stability and guarantees for relationships. It's still usually men with financial stability they're seeking. Why would a …

The sad part that crossed my mind is he would have gotten away with it and been less remorseful had he been rich. The younger woman would have stayed with him while he blissfully naively believes shes in love with him for him. LVM like this don't seem to realize the reality of things, believing he can still get any hot young thing regardless of his age while offering nothing in return.

This was so helpful thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been frozen on whether to make a move and this was one of my main concerns holding me back - what dating would be like in this other country, a place where I only have acquaintances and would have to rebuild a community.

Even the actress thought it was cringe “However, Pompeo didn’t always see Meredith as the empowering woman she is today, particularly when she begged Derek to love her.” https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/greys-anatomy-ellen-pompeo-meredith-pick-me-choose-me-love-me-speech.html/

Yikes with negging. Ladies, how do you respond to negging? I usually identify it right away, nod and just walk away from “the conversation.” If I can’t walk away, I just accept whatever they say about me and just smile, turn away to someone next to me for real conversation. I want a better way to throw it back at them in a tactful tasteful manner.

He’s also embarrassing her by displaying their relationship issues publicly… with a bad font choice to top off

I learned this the hard way over the years. The many excuses and chances I given men (“he was brought up in a rough home”, “he’s surrounded by bad influences”, “his previous relationship cheated on him”). In the end, turned out they were cheating or knew certain actions were disrespectful but convinced me that they were too clueless. Men learn from action not from talking/verbal reactions. Be firm, or get up and leave. Some test your boundaries with what they can get away with, and the more leew…

I agree, it's a good reminder to help those to forgive themselves and heal. I had a hard time moving on (and I still do) years later. It nearly got in the way of me getting together with my current HVM. I still struggle with triggers that remind me of the emotional and psychological abuse. The shame, self blame and embarrassment remains. But similar messages like that page, remind myself that having been through that is something I can't go back and change, and need to take as a learning lesson …

I have experienced this with my manipulative ex. Somehow it was every girl he’s dated was “crazy.” It is a huge red flag in how a man talks about his past relationships and friendships. I’m pretty sure he’s telling his new girls after me that I’m “crazy” as well. Here’s an article I found when I gotten out of my relationship. “His Previous Girlfriends Were All “Crazy”” How I Discovered I Was Dating a Sociopath: https://www.bustle.com/articles/199929-how-i-discovered-i-was-dating-a-sociopath

It is easier to do this when you’re in a place where there’s likeminded individuals. It was harder with pressure to pair up when I lived in a smaller city (ie. Judgements on girls still going out to bars at 25 and having fun.) Once I got out, I spent majority of my 20s, single, and surrounded myself by successful/independent women. Dating around casually helped me suss out what I do and do not want in myself and others. The freedom to just pick up and go on trips when I want, meeting men and fri…

I’m going to attest to this. RUN. If he’s willing to lie that early on, it won’t bode well for later. My ex’s bio said he’s a web developer. In person, turned out he was “in process” of becoming one and has been a bartender the last decade. Gut instinct said: “RED FLAG” but I shrugged it off as “He’s bettering himself and trying to turn his life around.” Many lies and manipulative behaviors followed for the duration of that relationship. He expected me to refer him and connect him to places for …

So sorry you went through that. Like I’ve already said in my other reply to your thread - this is eerily SO much like my ex (stick figure card, with scribbles, false promises, not affectionate and cheating) I accepted these behaviors because I assumed that’s what you expect from men. It’s a huge contrast when you meet men who are responsible, affectionate, loyal and considerate. It’s pathetic we are made to think that any thing less is the norm and anything more is too demanding :( even if it’s …

Sounds like my ex. I wish I took a picture of the “card” he created me for my bday. Stick figure drawing, with scribbled words presented as a “voucher for a massage.” He didn’t book anything and for the weeks/month after made no effort to set aside time to take me to promised massage. For all the thoughtful gifts and events I taken him to, it was never returned. Later on, I asked for a affordable cabin getaway for an upcoming valentines long weekend. He said it was too much money. After I broke …
