Anyone should be paid for house work, whether it is through other house work, or making sure the significant other recognize their work and show their gratitude.
Prostitution is the exchange of money for sexual favors. The vocal minority of sex workers like to compare work to prostitution, because it removes the focus on the sexual exchange. Work can be compared to prostitution, in the sense you give someone’s time for money. For most, work is not prostitution, as it does not involve putting a penis in a mouth or a vagina.
