Psychologists are strictly told what to do and what not to do when they are trained. The standard set of practices handed to psychiatrists and psychologists are catered more towards women than men. People wish they had it when they were younger because they are pussies. The risk of ending up with a permanently mutilated penis is far higher as a baby. I bet the same guys would say in the future "I wish I had worked out more when I was younger so I'd not have ended up with weak bones in my old age" it is just shifting of work to a different time frame.

The thing that frustrates nice guys is that they listen to the WORDS of women who describe their ideal man and then the nice guy strives to be a "good husband" material. He hopes that some girl will find him attractive(after all, he is their ideal candidate) They don't really think girls OWE them sex. They think being nice is a good thing that makes then attractive. The media in South Asia did a fair bit of work perpetuating the stereotype. A violent male attacks an attractive female with acid to vent his frustration when the female rejected his love. There are thousands of movies and books which use this plot point because it makes a good story. The female character then laments on the cruelty of the world and how her beauty is her curse.

Good writing comes when you believe it to some extent. They may not have believed it when they began but when they are done, they are able to internally justify at least half of their bullshit. It is an effective coping mechanism. If your job is to make up bullshit, believing in it helps a lot.
