I was impressed by this response. Very mature and equable despite the (justified, I think) anger and frustration you must have felt.

We do! Most Americans I know love hearing foreign tongues as they are so exotic and we are not exposed to them (to a significant extent) in our schooling system. I have a good friend who speaks both English and Swedish perfectly, and we always try to get him to speak Swedish for us just because it's interesting and different.

Well, I think it's wonderful that you're taught so many different languages. I wish foreign languages were more heavily emphasized in the United States.

Just wanted to say, you write English very well. I'm always very impressed with truly bilingual individuals.

First, let me apologize for all the times I referred to you as a "he" in my original post. I assumed incorrectly. Second, there's no need for us to get defensive. We would not be a legitimate movement if we weren't able to support our tenants with verifiable, concrete statistical data. Any good lawyer, scientist, or professional will admit to as much - neutral, objective, peer-reviewed statistics are an absolute must when developing or promoting a hypothesis. We have that data, and should have n…

I just don't get why we're downvoting this guy. He (I'm assuming he's a "he") came here with a genuine question, a legitimate inquiry into the Men's Rights Movement. For those who think he's lazy for not doing the research himself or reading the sidebar, well...that's a fair criticism, but not a reason to downvote him. What is more important is that the OP admits he knows little of the topic and is receptive of information that conflicts, contradicts, or undermines his current opinions. I think …

You're right. And I appreciate what you've done as a moderator of the Men's Rights subreddit. But still...I would have just let it lie, brother. I never would have even seen this had it not been for your post...seems like you're giving yourself more, undeserved bad press. :/

Hate to say it, but I couldn't agree more...

While I find this proposal abhorrent and detestable in the extreme, did anyone else think that the title was a tad verbose? But that's just a superficial criticism; it would be a travesty if this legislation were to be passed. In its nascent form, it really only screws taxi drivers...but if passed, it might become more pervasive, possibly spreading to other jobs concerned with public services. And that would be pretty darn scary...
