No amount of effort will ever make Julian Newman an NBA player. He doesn't have the genetics to compete past high school, regardless of how much time and money his parents invested in him. Why can't we admit this for non-sport pursuits?

If you have to ask for advice on the internet, then it's over. No words on a screen will make you do the things required to be successful, including the multiple rejections that give feedback of what works and what doesn't work.

IDK why we have these conversations without mentioning the height, weight, race, and socioeconomic status of both people in each group. The confidence argument assumes we are all the same grey blobs living in the same petridish when that could not be further from the truth.

I was told growing up that if I'm physically attracted to someone that means shes out of my league. EDIT: IMO people who aren't conventionally attractive, but have standards face a serious dilemma.

The required education to get a good paying job is becoming higher and higher every generation. Boomers got by doing factory labor out of high school, Millennials and Gen Z have to get a four year degree before they can make decent money.

Is 'the a-holes are the successful people' trope another example of survivorship bias? Does being an a-hole make someone successful or do successful people get away with being a-holes? I remember reading the Kobe Bryant book showboat and it talked about how Kobe was a try hard disliked by teammates and coaches. One could argue he was successful in spite of his behavior, not because of it. Mamba mentality sounds nice on paper, but its not a scalable mindset and would harm people who aren't in hig…

we live in a macro patriarchy where the top 20% of men control all the resources and control the world's militaries. The dropping of birth rates shows that micro patriarchy doesn't exist. A man can't be a patriarch/father if women don't value creating families.

Men don't bond over existing they bond over shared experiences/accomplishments. The average young man doesn't have anything to bond over. Young men dont need friends, they need mentors to help them to become successful.

The problem is that making friends and forming relationships is more an art than a science. 100 people could have trouble making friends and they each have a unique issue preventing them from fixing the problem. There isn't a one size fits all solution out there for them.

We live in a society that pretends that life started and ended after the Baby boomers. If we just did stats for people between 20 and 40 years old, it'd tell a different story regarding reproduction.

"Believing your own personal and subjective experiences over actual evidence." In defense of the person who wrote that, dating is not mechanical like changing a tire or screwing a lightbulb in a socket. What works for one person literally will not work for another person. Its like LeBron James giving Muggsy Bouges advice on how to play basketball. Muggsy will not be able to play the same way because he doesn't have the same abilities as LeBron.

mentally-ill women are actually more likely to act against TRP (because they're mentally ill and non-conforming). this is so true, the guys focused on looks will go for the crazy 6 instead of settling for the sane 3. the crazy = non-confirming is something i've never thought of before.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 10:16 AM

Redemption is for people who broke the law. You can't get redemption when you haven't done anything wrong. You have to figure out what you have or what you can develop that a woman may want. No one can figure that out for you (maybe a stylist or life coach?). It will require a lot of trying and I get a lot of guys dont want to put in the herculean effort but you will be alive anyways so might as well try.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 09:00 PM

Those abusive men get away with abuse because they are more attractive or richer than the average guy. They are tolerated in spite of their abuse, not because of it. Those guys are attractive and know how to play the social game better than most. Its really not that complicated, except people are not explicitly honest like you stated earlier.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/11/23 08:52 PM

I think too many people are going off the experiences of others instead of living their life and trying different things to see what works. Anyone who has tried different things in life realizes that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. A strategy that works for one person may not work for another, etc. Generalizations are to give an idea of how to move in the world, but real-life experience will show that the world is very nuanced.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/11/23 02:59 AM

You forget being with a woman and children--even if they aren't his own-- is a huge social status boost. A man regardless of his looks, socioeconomic status, etc. gets more respect when a woman and children is around him because women are the gatekeepers of respectability. OP's stepdad probably received better treatment from friends and family once he got with OP's mom.

There's a Louis Rossman video where he explains why he stopped using surveys to make changes to his business; people don't know what they want. People say one thing, but respond to it differently in reality. He realized the need to try things and make adjustments based on customer response. I don't think women are lying, they may be speaking from their ideal self.

The best analogy I've heard is that life is like a pyramid. We all start out (relatively) on the same level as our peers in school, but our habits differentiate our prospects over time. If someone has completed a competitive program where there's more people applying than opportunities (think division 1 sports, med school, law school, etc.) they have a better understanding of why some people cant find relationships.

It works for them cuz their brains have sensors to easily pickup on subtle and social cues. So whenever they say this advice, they're coming from a neurotypical perspective than a neurodivergent one. I also experienced the toxic positivity and generalized advice. My experience is that most advice fails because its usually someone in the top 20% giving advice to someone in the bottom 80%. It's a man's world in the sense that people respond better to male leadership and guidance. If someone is trying to build some product or start a movement, being a man makes it a lot easier. The conflict is that our world doesnt require as much explicit building as it did in the past, so men aren't required to build as much, thus the 99% of men that don't build are seen as less important.

Male on male oppression is less about gender and more about utility. If they could make female soldiers as strong, aggressive, and coordinated as men for less pay they would. The only stuff they shame men for nowadays are things that women are practically incapable of doing.

Supply and demand is a good description of the problem, that is why people are participating in social arbitrage. People who make a decent wage working remotely can live better in countries like Bali, etc.

The phrase "misandry irritates, misogyny kills" implies the prejudice is coming from the opposite gender. All these examples are men oppressing other men. Women are not responsible for male on male genocide or military drafts.

But at no point did anyone ever wonder: maybe the learning styles used in school are just not working on him? Is that the problem? We are in the low investment, high austerity period. More interesting learning styles cost money that the government doesn't want to spend. Parents will have to pay for their children's development out of pocket.

Regarding the couples requesting more girls than boys, its well known that boys are born more often than girls, like 105 boys for 100 girls on average. These may have been couples who had several boys and wanted a girl in the family. Having a true 50/50 birth rate between boys and girls would probably lead to a (slight) decrease in male loneliness.

The issue is that men require a lot more development than girls, but over a median you will get a much better/larger return on that investment because men have a cultural/biological need to provide for their communities. The problem is that we live in a austerity, high-interest rate environment so the government doesn't have the money to improve schools in any form or fashionn when the only solution to this is increasing pay so we can attract better teachers and more male teachers, increasing phy…

The real isssue with a lot of men is an inability to compete with other men for resources. Talking about feelings doesn't make men competitive so a lot of men see therapy as a waste of time.

But capitalism is part of the problem. It's the corporations obsessed with economic growth that sent manufacturing jobs overseas and hurt the ability for working class men to provide for their families.

Men are bigger, faster, stronger, have better hand-eye co-ordination, and higher pain tolerance than women. A woman having a masculine personality doesn't give her the physical traits of the average man.

I keep hearing there's a shortage of people and trades, and the military ironically two very masculine spaces. My point is that people don't think anything is wrong because they are still mentally in 1980s and 1990s where conditions for men were not so bad. We can't convince people about reality more than mainstream media can.

What I mean is that someone is profiting /or able to cut costs by disenfranchising young men. I agree with the theory that the men benefited from the middle class the most and that cost the government too much money. Now that we are in an austerity period, the government can't afford to keep the same policies that helped men in the past.

I didn't watch the video (lol), but i've always felt that men take a lot more initial investment than women. In this austerity fueled society where the government tries to invest the least amount possible in people, women are going to succeed as they dont need as much guidance and purpose to accomplish things as men do.

I can't help but feel that the wildest trick society ever went through was convincing women that employment is freedom. A lot of women would rather have a job they hate then be forced to couple with a man they are not attracted to for survival.

I'm living in reality, I understand that I can be (unfairly) held responsible for something I didn't do myself. They have statistics and data to come up with patterns of group behavior. The data says men are more violent towards women then women are towards men. If a woman sees me and is scared because the data says I could potentially hurt her, I am not offended and completely understand.

Yes I do care about what happens in society because the decline is not happening in a vacuum. It will gradually effect more people over time. Just because the decline hasn't affected you yet, doesn't mean it won't in upcoming years. The "They came for me" poem explains this pretty well: "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist. All we need to do is to uplift men so that men do better in society relative to women. The problem is that we are living in this austerity era where the goverment and employers no longer want to invest in people. Everyone who grew up without a support system is somehow supposed to figure it out themselves. I think this is the reason women are being recruited to more positions nowadays because they require a lot less investment before they become functioning members of society and the workforce.

Why do you believe so? Why do people imagine family fathers are less of a threat when many can be violent, too? Having a family is seen as a way to keep men in check. The idea is that a family man will avoid risky behavior to prevent being in a situation where he can no longer provide for his family.

Men are better built to work harder and achieve things then women. At the top 1% of every field, its all men up there. The problem is that most men dont want to do the type of work to become the 1% so its not pertinent to their everyday lives. Also, a lot of women in non western countries still need men to validate their opinions or protect them in public. Feminism is largely a western idea that most countries haven't adapted. We never have to consider this as men.
