Well, that's sort of axiomatic, isn't it? Of course those who follow God think He's doing the right thing. Otherwise they wouldn't follow Him. Of course we also don't see it as rationalizing. We follow because we believe we see the logic of His actions. From the Christian perspective those who think He's a jerk have missed the point, which is lamentable.

He's not a jerk. He attacked people who attacked the race the saviour would come from. He killed people who blasphemed. In the case of the bears, making fun of God's prophet - not treating something that is holy with respect. He was trying to teach people to understand just how different holiness is from what we tend to be. He says "hey, this life is broken, accept that it needs to be fixed and you can experience what it should have been like" of course that goes against the majority who are int…

Also, I think the ever changing dynamics help force us to learn to be more Christ-like and build the character needed for heaven. It's much easier to be complacent and check out in a static relationship, but when things are always in flux, you have to focus and adapt and be intentional.

Christianity is almost gone? How so? Our denomination is growing by about 3,000 people a day. Not sure about the others.
