I shot weddings in high school and university for extra cash. This experience was far and above more useful vs classroom knowledge. I shot studio work and did all my own strobe work, again self taught. I made mistakes and learned from them. In the end it wasn't a career for me since revenue from this field is so low, changed to comp sci and earn a respectable living. A grade 8 student can find information faster vs a 40 year old veteran with 20 years experience all certifications and a masters degree. That doesn't mean the grade 8 student is more valuable, just able to use google more effectively. Call me wrong but when I interview, I expect the interviewee to be able to answer questions on the spot. Maybe not solve complex architecture in one go but at least answer some basic knowledge questions and ramp up from there. P.S.
