Minecraft taught me that! Apparently you used to feed chocolate chip cookies to parrots in order to breed them, but there was a movement to change that since feeding parrots certain kinds of cookies can kill them and Minecraft might inadvertantly teach children to feed cookies to the family's pet bird.

Honestly, you're probably right, now that I think about it. I felt it fit the "forging their own identities and paths to self-defined success" part of the description in the sidebar, so I posted it here. Even if it does involve women, it's still a nice success story about learning we don't have to have that one girl that we all chased.

The video begins with young Cee Lo noticing a cute girl (the heart breaker), and offers to let her play with his toy truck, but she's much more interested in the boy with the fancy toy car. As he grows up, he does more to try and win her over, but she has no interest in a loser like him. Eventually he finds his own success (the lady killer) and realizes he doesn't need her, and waves at her from his beauty of a car as she cleans the diner he used to work at.

Wow, I just looked at that thread, and the user you were arguing with is a complete and utter nutjob. I haven't seen someone so utterly and completely deluded in a very long time.

I went to the comments section here to say just that. Some of the things she says are pretty smart, but others are simply ignorant. I doubt it's radfem worldviews that she believes; more like her simply being ignorant or misinformed when stating some of the things in her video. Also, you got downvoted. Here, have an upvote.

I meant assertive as in asserting dominance, but yes, being assertive (rather than submissive) is certainly a good thing. Your choice of words is better though.

You know... you do have a point. I guess I hadn't thought of it that way. Your analogy between the AIDS awareness and this very subreddit is pretty spot-on. You're right.

While that is true, they could have gone about it a different way, stating "Not just men suffer from AIDS; many women and children are also afflicted", and strived to raise awareness for everyone. There's truly no need to split genders on this one.

One of the top posts on here is bitching about AIDS awareness in women and children. One of the top posts on here is asking why it's excluding men in AIDS awareness. There's no reason to specifically segregate who we should raise AIDS awareness for.

I read this subreddit daily. I hear all sorts of horror stories about the injustices men suffer, about how said injustices are ignored or belittled, and how horrible women can be about this sort of thing. I realize a lot of it is venting and isolated incidents, but there really is a big problem in the world. You are just what the world needs. A woman who is free-thinking and understands that men have just as many problems as women in this day and age. One who, as you put it, doesn't have a probl…

Pretty sure Patrick Stewart would fall in there too.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
