3	askTRP Megathread March 29 P-P-L isn't a bad routine. In fact I'm on it. But for a beginner I would honestly stick with a 5X5 program at first focusing on strength. I would do 12 weeks or so of a program like Stronglifts or Starting Strength just to build your base. Then you'll notice when you move to a split routine it'll be far more effective. Aim to shoot for intermediate strength before you progress. I've seen way too many newbs burn out by going too extreme right away.
