The classes are (a) anyone with a conservative viewpoint employed by Google in the last 4 years, (b) any male employed in the last year, (c) any Caucasian employed by Google in the last year. I have been a plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against a former employer for owing wages. (The owners immediately opened another company doing the same business). From this experience, I will tell you how the rules of a class action lawsuit play out. Once the case is settled in favor of the plaintiff, ea…

I know this won't sound like it makes any sense, but it works for me. The best way to care deeply is to not give a fuck and vice versa.

The alternative is that they put in the effort to be a better woman thus effectively competing with any other woman that the alpha male would go after. This is rare, as it requires less energy to tear the man down. If the alpha male refuses to be torn down, then the woman who wants to keep the alpha has to put in the energy to be a better woman or she risks losing him to a woman who is willing to put in more energy.

Isn't it lovely how the article uses the word "persons"? I'd love to see the male/female breakdown of the 50,000, but I think I can guess pretty accurately. Edit: Sorry for my mis-wording. The article is well-written. The quoted source is what I'm criticizing.

I am a divorced dad of 2 children with first wife, 1 child with current wife. 4 1/2 years post-divorce, I pay 1/3 of my salary to my ex-wife in alimony and child support. My preferences (in order): 1. Total abolishment. Any support order is a violation of the supporter's rights. Period. 2. 50/50 custody time unless a parent agrees to give up their time; no support as long as the split is 50/50. If the split is not 50/50, then if the person with the lesser share time makes a higher income, than t…

Tampax and Kotex are women's products. Diapers are baby products that are purchases by and used by parents. I buy the diapers and I use them regularly. I went to do a small, simple act of signing up for a rewards program and was a little taken aback that I'm not even acknowledged as a potential customer. As our culture and society changes, we need to make sure our institutions are responding. This is not of a magnitude of many other critical mens' rights issues, but it's also not irrelevant. Men…

It's a holdover of the idea of mom as sole child caretaker. I want to raise awareness of it. Then we can contact Huggies en masse and encourage them to change their attitude towards their customers. I buy diapers, and I use them. These products and this company needs to cater to parents, not just moms.

Don't get married and don't have kids. The laws and courts will only change in a proper way once the courts starve for lack of people getting divorced and once women start begging for the rules to change so that men will want to start marrying again.

I agree. Having gone through a divorce, however, I can see two opposite viewpoints about my own relationship with my ex-wife. One, she is lazy, self-entitled, bitchy, vindictive, and I should never have married her. Two, I could have made the marriage and relationship work if I really wanted to. I did want that marriage to work; my parents were married for 34 years until my dad passed away. I wanted that kind of marriage with my first wife. I thought I was powerless to her whims when she wanted …

Bankruptcy doesn't matter. Child support arrears are not affected by bankruptcy. If you can't pay, you go to jail. In my state, one child is 20% of my income adjusted down based on the visitation I have. Good luck, OP. All of us here want the system to be different. It is currently very unfair and unjust. If I were you, I would either forgive her and start preparing for how you are going to be a father and a husband, or I would flee the country. My experience has been that my indentured servitud…

My ex-wife went back to school for a 2nd degree. In 3 years, she took 3 semesters of school, and she didn't work at all. Then she worked part-time for a year. I paid her half of my salary that whole time because I was forced to. Our system should not allow this to happen, but it not only allows it, it rewards it.

Experience programmer in a high cost of living area. To put things in perspective, when I first got divorced, I lived in a studio apartment for a year and a half paying $1000 per month for rent. When my kids would visit me, they would sleep on the floor while I slept on the couch.

I pay $1800 a month in child support and $1200 a month in alimony. That is 1/3 of my income. I used to pay half of my income. I've been divorced for 4 1/2 years. I have done the math based on her court documents. She uses about $800-1000 per month to take care of my kids. I'm including rent, utilities, food, clothes, entertainment, etc. in my calculation. My ex-wife is a full-time teacher as of a few months ago. In her words, she is "self-supporting" now. I'm almost 40. I have a great job that p…

I understand your point, or at least where you are coming from. But "a guy who has to pay child support" doesn't cut it. If you haven't been forced to pay child support or are closely connected to someone who has, then your reaction is likely "meh". And that, in my estimation, is the single biggest reason the system has been allowed to progress as far as it has. It is also the case that I am not speaking to an audience who is a slave or knows anyone who is, so I don't think I'm offending or beli…

I don't intend histrionics, and I don't intend to imply that I am human property (at least not in entirety). I definitely have many freedoms that I would expect a human being to have. What was absolutely not clear to me before I found myself in this situation, though, is that many of my rights and freedoms are restricted, some in obvious ways, some in non-obvious ways. I was very naive about this whole system until the first time I got laid off. I didn't know that I was supposed to file paperwor…

Why? Why does he have to "support the child as if the child were living with him in his own home"? Most fathers would gladly do that by having his children LIVE WITH HIM IN HIS OWN HOME. Even if he is a multi-millionaire (source, please), what he is being subjected is not right and is not just. The court has no right to take my income and piss it into my ex-wife's lazy hands. The net-net is that this hampers my ability to provide more for my kids and my ex-wife gets to pretend like she is provid…

My kids are not a burden to me. I wish I could have full custody of them. Their lives would be better and I would have more resources to give to them ... willingly. Being forced to pay my ex-wife is a form of slavery. That is not an exaggeration. I have no choice. There is nothing just or right about that. Child support sounds like a good idea, but it is not. My ex-wife is contributing 0% of the financial support for our kids. She has no incentive to do any better. She farted around for 4 years …

It absolutely doesn't. And that is even completely disregarding the mother's responsibility to contribute to the financial support of her children. Our world is very fucked up when a man can be sent to jail because he cannot pay exorbitant amounts of money to fund a very posh lifestyle for his ex-wife. This has got to stop. This cannot be allowed to be the law anymore. This is unfair, unjust, and stomps all over any notion of freedom and autonomy.

Child support and alimony are the new slavery. I hope this guy has more money in the bank than I do, but I'm pretty certain he doesn't and never did deserve this. I can imagine the fear and anguish this must cause. Mommy welfare has to end.

This guy needs help, as in assistance. While this guy fleeing wasn't a good thing for his son, I wonder what his life would be like if his father stayed and they were evicted. It sounds like the father's intentions were actually to take care of his son, in a fucked up way, yes, but I don't think punishing this guy or keeping his son from seeing him is good for anyone.

Your points seem to support the notion that courts should default to equal parenting time in a divorce. I am strongly in favor of that no matter how we get there.

Separate judgements, but alimony nonetheless. I am paying my ex-wife about double in "child support" what she, by her court statements, can attribute to my children's care. I'm including rent, food, clothes, entertainment, healthcare, share of utilities, the whole nine yards. And, I'm paying her alimony on top of that. The facts in my case are that my ex-wife screwed around with her career before we were married, while we were married, and after we divorced. I am paying for her mistakes. My mist…

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. I, for one, am a couple hundred thousand dollars into the sense it doesn't make. Make no mistake, though, child support is not for the children, either. For any reasonable estimate, I am paying double in child support than the amount that is being spent for my ex-wife to be taking care of her and my children. And that is completely disregarding the intent of these laws which is that each parent is contributing to the financial welfare of the children. My ex-wife has …

True, but he might have been hoping to stay out of jail, and I know my attorney stresses being dilligent about following some rules to the letter so he can argue those points in my favor.

I don't know if this differs state-to-state, but in my state, if I don't pay my child support, she can go to child services, and they have the power to take immediate action (or so I've heard). I don't think alimony payments could be taken up with the same services. The courts like to pretend that what they are doing is in the best interests of the children, so they perpetuate this ruse. If he had not been paying child support, he probably would have been jailed long ago.

This guy is my fucking hero. I wish I had these balls, and I hope his effort helps to change this system. Alimony is unfair and unjust. Child support is close behind. In CA, child support and alimony can equal 50%. I had to pay half my income to my ex-wife for 3 years while she took that long to take 3 semesters of school to get a 2nd college degree. Then she worked part-time for 1 year. Now, she has a full-time job, but I am still being forced to pay her 1/3 of my income in alimony and child support. And, in my most recent court motion, I was forced to pay her attorney's fees. Whether this conversation is real or not, it could be true, and this whole system …

I'm down with that, but frankly, most of us who are payors have jobs and, ahem, obligations. Participation in a march will be lower than we want. Do you really think that news organizations will report that we marched? Still, if something like that were organized, I'd do everything I could to go. If thousands of us skipped a payment to our ex-spouses, though, then that would be newsworthy. And if we kept doing it every year, then, yeah, we would start to be heard, I think. The courts, lawyers, a…

I am over 4 years into alimony and child support payments. I'm disgusted and fed up. My ex-wife took 4 years to get a full-time job. Now that she has a full-time job, the court not only ruled that I must still pay alimony, they also ruled that I must pay her most recent legal fees. At the current rate of change, fairness will not happen in my lifetime. We need to start taking more drastic measures. I have been mulling over trying to figure out how to organize a "skip a payment" event. If enough …

Alimony is not justified and needs to be abolished. A marriage is a contract between two people to stay together, be legally bound together, and share resources and responsibilities. When the marriage is terminated, the contract is broken. Alimony is a system designed to take from whoever did the most work in the workplace and give to the one who did the least work in the workplace. Alimony is punishment for the most successful one and reward for the least successful one. This may have had some …

Frankly, I've thought about it, but I have 2 children with my ex and I love them. I just can't go anywhere. I've also thought about just disappearing, changing my identity, dropping all of my stuff, cutting off all relationship ties and just starting over somewhere new. Financially speaking, that would be so much better for me. My kids, though ... I'm nearing 40 and I have no retirement savings. I cope, but I constantly have this sinking feeling that I will be working well past retirement age.

For the last four years, I have been paying half of my income to my ex-wife. I have no legal way out of it and there is nothing rational or fair about it. I am responsible for her after marriage because I was responsible for her during marriage. I was responsible for her during marriage because I am a man. If I knew then what I knew now, I never would have gotten married, and I never would have had kids. The family court needs major reform.

Ah, but you didn't really ask me what I thought should happen to the women on "The Talk". I think the show's producers, the network, the advertisers, and the media in general should get the message that men are not punching bags for whatever misandrist bullshit any woman wants to throw our way. They can then choose whether this is a respectable show or whether it is complete trash. If it is complete trash, then it will be properly shunned in certain circumstances and put in its place. If this is…

I'm not for whole-hog censorship. I'm for equal responsibility. In our society as it stands now, if a group of men had done exactly what these women had done, they would have been severely reprimanded, probably fired, and they would have a permanent black mark on their careers and public image. If we are going to have a society that does that, then these women deserve the same. If these women do not deserve the same, then men should be allowed the same leeway. I am for equality. I am not for one…

Lorena Bobbit? I didn't find this funny when it happened. There were lots of jokes about it, but the ones I heard were definitely jokes. There is a line that is crossed somewhere between a comedian joking about it and a group of talk show hosts declaring that this man deserved it. This coupled with how I have been treated in family court? I don't find male bashing funny anymore. I have seen that these "jokes" ultimately shape (or expose) public opinion which ultimately shapes legal opinion which…

If so, track ALL of your expenses for three months and tell me how that goes. I can do it for a short while, and it's a good experiment. But it is also a major pain in the ass & time consuming. Fair enough. I haven't looked up any research. My reaction is based on my own viewpoint and reaction to the article presented. I'm not of a skewed mindset that there is a large problem of "bitches tryin' to keep men down," but unfortunately, off-the-cuff articles like this one that are published do actually affect public opinion and ultimately public policy. While valid, you're comment has nothing to do with whether or not there should be a male pill. I am merely pulling the curtain aside to try and understand what might be the real reasons behind the ludicrous arguments made to restrict contraceptive choices for males.

Yep, seriously. If there were a male contraceptive pill available to men, then here are the potential consumers: Single men who like to sleep around Men in committed relationships where they have agreed with their partners that they do not want to have children right now Men in committed relationships who want to or already do cheat on their SO and they want to avoid a baby magnet showing up on their doorstep Men in committed relationships who secretly don't want to have children right now, even…

Hmmm. I could see multiple reasons for not mentioning the name of the guy. Usually in a news story like this, they don't wait to post a story if they don't have all the facts. Rather, they post what they have at the time because they want to be first to report it. Perhaps they didn't have any info on the guy. I also envision a situation where the police are trying to contain the evidence, get the survivors and bodies taken care of, contact the appropriate family members, deal with the grieving f…

In my situation, my ex-wife took off 8 years of work to raise our 2 kids with the agreement that she would figure out what she was doing with her career during that time. Before that, she was an "artist." She had no potential for making a career in which she could even support herself. With the 8 years, she changed her mind 10 times about what she wanted to do. The end result is that she did nothing. When the time came for her to get her ass in gear because our youngest child started Kindergarte…

Like FreddyDeus said, she will get her share of that in the division of assets. If she chose to be a homemaker, then her division of labor during that time period was taking care of the home and the children. Her pay for that time period was being financially supported and not paying for child care. If she had chosen to stay in her career and opt for child care, then they both would have been financially better off and there would be more asset to split at the end. So, regardless of whose choice…
