What I found works most of the time, is to just ask them to repeat themself. If it is a direct verbal offense, that is. A lot of people make snarky, hushed comments. If you just say:" What was that you just said to me? I couldn't really hear you." in a still friendly, but clear and stable voice, it most of the time works and they feel emberassed about it.

I never suggested, that it would. There is absolutly no way a child should endure abuse. I just think that calling pedophiles scum is lazy. Well it kinda is. I didn't want to get into too much detail, but it works similar in Germany. You will also be subsidized to get in total around the amount i talked about in the first post (flat + insurance + money). If you also have a child and raise it on your own the amount rises ofc.
