1	Only 2-10% of rape allegations were determined to be provably false you claim to spot an obvious problem in the data but the link you gave says that the largest study conducted on this topic from which the 2-8% range is often quoted uses a large sample size of accusations with KNOWN outcomes. (I.e it is a whole lot more probable that the rate of false claims is 2-8% amoung unproven cases than that it is 75-90%, by ALOT) Also you disregard that the proportion of false claims could also be less among unsolved cases.	/r/PurplePillDebate	30/05/25 05:40 PM

Hence the complexity of sexual violence crimes. But the claim that there is a higher proportion of false claims among unsolved cases vs solved cases is so far completely unsubstantiated. It is so much more likely that the rate of false claims is the same as for solved ones if anything. This is where we differ, because I do not think there are really any opportunities in making false claims, nor that most people who report an assault are lying about it. Essentially, the stat would say if you have a 100 accusations, and a 1/3 are unprovable, and of what remains 2-8% are false. One could extrapolate that of the 1/3 of unprovable cases 2-8% are false, which is a total instance of false reporting of 2-8%.
