I think it depends how much power this group holds or to what extent people take them seriously. If they're an extremist fringe group no one cares about, of course what they say is outrageous, but if it has no chance of becoming institutionalised, then I don't think comparing it to Saudi Arabia is apt.

It's ridiculous he had to petition them at all - derp, one kind of single parent deserves support but the other should just suck it up? Good on him for getting that bill passed. Isn't women getting cheaper car insurance based on presumed risk though? (I'm making no judgement on whether that's a justified assessment or not.) I also assume seniors and students get discounts because they're presumed to be earning less than someone not-retired or studying (I know I'm assuming seniors are automatically retired).
