56	Older women and dating I think it does get harder to date after a certain age, but that’s also because the dating pool shrinks. More people are married (or at least in a committed relationship) and settled at 40 than 20. Also I would like to add that at least in the US, the average age gap between a married man and woman is only about 2 years. 2	Do older men and younger women really like each other? I dated a man almost 20 years older than me. We were attracted to each other, but it didn’t work out. Now I’m engaged to a man the same age as me and I’m much happier with him. I honestly think it has less to do with age, and more with the character of the person you’re with, how compatible you are with each other, and if you share similar values.
