There is missing narrative here. Like okay fine a good person would have assumed hey using the futon is okay, but bed is pushing it. But that alone can't explain the fight. It's something else... like the narrator is a fatty, and/or she was fishing all night but didn't catch, and her friend did, which amplified her bitchiness, or something.

Interesting observation. You're probably right. Perhaps the average length of a non-married couple's relationship is less, as they end up crappy (like a marriage) but then end (unlike a lot of marriages that continue on, in misery).

Sniper rifles aren't light. They're often 30+ lbs before magazines and ammo. A normal service rifle is in the 12-18 lb range depending on what you've got strapped to it in terms of optics and other shit.

ill counter that video games dont have to be a time waster. I mean, if you want to play them for a bit, fine, some leisure time isn't the end of the world as long as it doesn't consume you, but don't kid yourself as to what you're doing. You're spending time as entertainment and not bettering yourself (and, probably, not having as much fun as you think you are - just habituated to it).

What is the point of this, exactly? You need to dump her permanently and the fact you haven't - in fact, you've almost wifed her - is a sign you likely never will. I couldn't even get through the entire pathetic story. Could have summarized with "I'm a doormat and evidently content with my lot in life." Bluest pill post I've seen in... years? I wish you the best man but jesus christ get your head on straight.

Reminds me very much of Chip Wilson's ( lululemon founder) comments during their sheer yoga pant issue. Basically, they were sheer because fat women were wearing garments that were too small. His line was basically that their clothes were not for everyone. Cue outrage and predictions of brand damage. Of course, that's all wrong - that is instrumental to their brand, and someone coming out and saying, hey, this isn't for fatties, strengthened the brand.

Not sure. Generally women take pain better than men. Go see a woman get a tattoo vs. a guy. Unreal pain tolerance. But there are always outliers. Biting can be annoying. Hair pulling has to be more of a firm grasp and short tug that you use to move them around to your will, not like pulling hair on the playground in grade school or something. Don't just yank on it, that's not what we're talking about. And, of course, be railing them at the time.

I think the point was that with that type of person you don't want to exit as an asshole, lest they be inclined to simply make something up and see if it sticks. The soft next benefits you. Oftentimes it is a lot better to simply be pragmatic rather than pick a hill to die on.

I've been a part of that lab life and have seen it tear people - individuals and couples - apart. The politics and horseshit and backstabbing and neverending hours (and, frustratingly, lack of productivity) is just insane. I'd never again date someone who was in bio lab life. It's a permanently unstable, depressing life as near as I can tell, and that's from age 20 to 60 since the labs tend to run the gamut. They're all miserable. Be glad you're free!

I never trusted anyone like I trusted him, and if I didn't really know him, then I will never really know anyone. Yup. Every guy on the planet has been there. All you can do is pick yourself up, focus on things you want to focus on (fitness, skills, a sport, reading a new branch of something, whatever). This is a realization most guys get hit by pretty early in life, but you adapt to the new reality you previously didn't know was it.

Quebec does not have a "net infusion of cash" because it contributes to 18-20% of the total. So all that money Quebec receives, well 1 dollar out of 5 comes from Quebec itself. ...so 80% of the federal money coming into Quebec is still coming from the rest of Canada, then... And yes, I hear you about PEI, but they're like 100,000 people "soaking wet" so to speak, so frankly it does not surprise me that they are a large beneficiary of transfers. It's kind of to be expected for such a tiny, depres…

I'm gonna stop you right there. Rosetta has travelled over 6.4 billion kilometres so far. Not 300 million miles. And the lander arrived within 50 metres of the target, well within the 500 m goal. Now, unfortunately it may have been wedged into a crevice, or something, but that's just bad luck.

It might be because I'm Canadian and I don't have a whole bunch of connotative memories about the words "affirmative action," but here's how I look at it. A problem has been identified (serious, life-changing lack of positive male role models among teachers for urban youth) A proposal to solve the problem was suggested (hire more male teachers) I think the point here is that the impetus for hiring more male teachers IS NOT that they are underrepresented and that its discriminatory, but that the …

ability to do the job = positive male role model for of Toronto's urban male youth that's the point.
/r/MensRights20/02/13 11:44 PM

Young boys need positive male role models. Elementary schools are often 75% or more female instructors. Unfortunately it is all too common these days that young boys do not have access to positive male role models at home (for all sorts of reasons - custody, separation, etc), so it is ever more crucial that this be provided in schools. In that sense, "people who can do the fucking job properly" are positive male role models because this is what is needed to stop the tragic cycles at play in urba…
/r/MensRights20/02/13 11:42 PM

Stop looking at this through a "reverse discrimination" lens and start looking at the issue of young boys crucially needing positive male role models. I think we're (in this thread) making it too much about the benefit to male TEACHERS when the focus should be on the male STUDENTS.
/r/MensRights20/02/13 11:39 PM

Boys need positive male role models in school - I think it's a very serious problem that they are almost totally surrounded by female instructors for most of their waking lives until... high school? This is an issue.
/r/MensRights20/02/13 11:38 PM

I look at it in a different way - not that it helps men re: discrimination, but that it is important for young boys to have positive male role models in their life, be it family, school, or public. And elementary schools tend to be 75% or more female instructors. I see this as a problem not necessarily for gender equity, but because those boys are being denied positive male role models. There is definitely also elements of the "every male as paedophile" which play a role in causing so few male t…
