And people wonder why anime does as well as it does.

Just compare the clothes sections for men and women in any given department store. Observe how the male models are all chiseled with six-packs while the female models consist of many different body types including many "plus-sized" models. This is not just an internet phenomenon, it's in our every-day lives.

Honestly on at least a surface level he gives similar energy to Walz. That is to say, I don't think the official democrat party was particularly repulsive to men. They had pretty much the same as always "how do you do, fellow men?" ineffective yet inoffensive energy they've always had. The democrats didn't push men away, the internet did. If I recall the exit polls correctly, it was mostly young men that skewed right, and actually older men changed slightly to the left. And what difference betwe…

If you like this, you might want to check out r/guysbeingdudes for similar content but less focus on dads specifically. I find it pretty wholesome and a nice tonic for all the negativity you find surrounding men elsewhere on the net.

There's Shoeonhead. She's left wing and she advocates for men. I think she's about as close as you'll get. I can speculate about the politics about a lot of male advocates but Shoe is the only one who is also openly a leftist as far as I know.

Karen Straughan was a pretty big red pill for me. She is relentless and doesn't concede a single point to feminism. She's also pretty conservative if that matters to you, but last I checked her videos almost always focus on men's issues. Shoeonhead is most definitely the most popular female advocate for men and boys. Her channel covers a lot of topics but she has pretty consistently defended men and boys since the start of her channel. She is also a leftist if that matters to you. I figure betwe…

I mean, this is basically what we've been saying for decades now. I doubt this article will be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but it's nice to see. Also, "changing masculinity" has basically been the M.O. of menslib for a while now.

I'm not the most well-versed in the title but I did read up to the latest chapter about a year or two ago. I think the most telling part about it is how the fandom reacts to it. Many people just flat-out refuse to see Denji as a victim and characterize him as a coomer. Many others have completely missed the point of his character and basically think the whole series is a sex quest. They view Denji almost getting raped by Himeno as a good thing and are confused why he isn't sexually attracted to …

If you only ever talk about female victims of sexual assault all the time and never male victims (and you get mad when they're brought up), then you don't care about victims of SA, you just want attention.

Have you ever heard the phrase "I didn't leave the Left, the Left left me?" You are not alone. I largely consider myself classically liberal and that hasn't really changed since I've been politically conscious. What has changed is the DNC that I've been voting for all my life, and online discourse where a lot of political values that used to be considered sacred, like freedom of speech and judging people by their character rather than their immutable characteristics, are chucked aside to make wa…

Holy shit, they fired the whole HR dept. because someone was suing them? If that's true, have we not found an awesome weapon? We should sue people more. Discrimination and slander are rampant nowadays and both are illegal. Imagine the change we would see if companies were held accountable for their discriminatory hiring practices and calling people istaphobes with no evidence.

Aren't there also cases where mothers kill their sons so they don't grow up to be terrible men? I need to do some research, but I feel like there are plenty of cases of women killing men and boys with explicitly misandrist motives.

Everyone modifies their behavior to accommodate others, well everyone except assholes. Laser focusing on specifically how women accommodate men is disingenuous. Women accommodate other women, men accommodate both women and other men, everyone accommodates each other, that's what society is.

You lost me when you didn't condemn the raids. Free speech is extremely important for free societies and limiting it is a tactic of tyrannical governments trying to control the people. Think about it, even the posts on this sub could be considered "mysoginistic" depending on the interpretation of the people in charge. Are you really OK with the government being able to arrest people based on subjective "wrongthink?"

I taught English over there for a while. Through one of my male coworkers I learned that women can also be very domineering in the household. He had to get permission from his wife to go out drinking and he gave all his money to her and was given an allowance in exchange. Apparently men tend to live with their mothers well into adulthood as well but that's a different topic.

I remember a story about a man who had some horrific accident happen to him but he drove himself to the hospital without alerting anyone because he "didn't want to bother" anyone. I know it's anecdotal, but I believe many men feel something along these lines. I've felt like that man myself.

If you look at who's buying the tickets, the audience is 60%+ male so the box office has nothing to do with so-called gloating, misogynistic men anyways. It's just a shit movie that no one, especially women, want to see.

People don't SA and kill women because they hate women, they commit these acts because they're sociopathic assholes. I mean, if violence towards women is a result of misogyny, then what about the much more prevalent violence against men? And misandry DOES get men killed and imprisoned. Look at the war in Ukraine where men are forced to fight and die, look at all the male refugees who must remain in dangerous countries because of discriminatory immigration laws, look the sentencing disparity wher…

I read a few volumes. I was impressed with how they acknowledged that civilization would be absolutely devastated without men. It's treated as a true apocalypse scenario with most of the remaining population just waiting to die. There was precisely one community that managed to turn on a back-up generator or something and achieved some semblance of normal life (although the comic makes a big deal about this) My main complaint is the main character, I just didn't click with him. Also even as the …

If you go back in time far enough, literally every type of job was dominated by men until extremely recently. This is because in most cultures a women's role was to deal with everything inside the house (including finances, which many feminists like to ignore) while a man's role was to deal with everything outside. This is why while the primary cook of a household was usually the mother until recently, the culinary industry was male dominated: because chefs cooked outside the house, in the domai…

Great analysis. I just wished it focused more on how feminism often opposes men's rights issues. It seems more of direct counter to "patriarchy hurts men too" when you demonstrate that, in fact, feminism is responsible for a lot of men's woes. Ex: the harassment of Erin Pizzey when she tried to open domestic violence shelters for men too, the Duluth Model and feminism's support of it, etc.

Complicated situations have complicated answers. Basically your fiance's gotta record every single piece of evidence he can get a hold of, make sure he has the best lawyer at the most reasonable price, and penny-pinch whenever possible for the legal fees. Just dig in and fight to the best of your abilities. Ask the friend if they're willing to testify on your fiance's behalf. Ask for support from anyone who's likely to give it. Any family or friends that are still on his side? Ask for favors, or…

If you really want to keep debating against a brick wall, bring up the sentencing disparity between men and women. If men are privileged because the majority of allegations against them do not result in incarceration, then women must be even more privileged because they are much less likely to be incarcerated than men, right?

I'm sorry, I'm usually sympathetic to the posts on this sub, but this is a bad take. There are 4 billion women or so in the world, each with their own thoughts and opinions. Not all women think men are evil. In fact, I'd bet that proportion of women is a vanishingly small portion of the population, they're just loud. Even of those that do I'm sure there are those who don't necessarily agree with the sentiment literally, or who agree momentarily after a bad break-up, or who recognize, like we sho…

I don't know. The mother is portrayed as extremely unreasonable in this scene, no one was on her side. Also, I don't think the movie condones the main character not correcting her mother in this scene. One of the major scenes of character growth in this movie is when the main character confronts her mother with her true thoughts rather than let her mother's self-serving assumptions stand. The movie could have taken the clerk's experience more seriously, but I don't think it condones false accusa…

I think you'll find that anime and manga are largely untouched by the gender politics of the West and especially the ones targeted at boys have some very positive portrayals of masculinity. One Piece, for instance, has positive depictions of large range of masculine archetypes, some truly inspiring man to man friendships and the men come from all walks of life with many different body types to boot. The only problem is that they tend to focus on boys rather than men.

I'm confused about the messaging here. Is it saying that by knowing these stats we are "identifying" as a male advocate? I understand that making your identity all about your political beliefs can make us less likely to change our beliefs when we're wrong. I just don't understand what all those statistics have to do with that message.

It genders negative traits that could previously apply to everyone. Even if a woman were to shame a man for crying, "Toxic Masculinity" means it's actually men's collective fault because they are the source of masculinity and thus toxic masculinity, allowing the woman to redirect the blame of her action onto men. There is nothing inherently masculine about shaming someone for crying, it's just asshole behavior.

I think there's fault to go around. Her response was self-absorbed, but you assumed she was acting in bad faith when she could been acting playful. Assuming positive intent (even when you're 99% sure there was none) always yields better results. You could have taken her response as "ok, wow, you've suitably impressed me. I really wanna get together with you insert Colbert "GIVE IT TO ME NOW" meme. But you assumed the worst and possibly screwed yourself out of a good relationship.

"Toxic masculinity" is just a collection of negative male stereotypes. It's a way to take problematic behaviors that both sexes have and gender them so that stuff like shaming men for crying becomes a male issue and women don't have to worry about it even though women also shame men for crying. Switch the genders. Materialism, vanity, and catfights are now "Toxic Femininity" and now all the men who are vain, materialistic and who encourage catfights can pretend like those are women's issues and …

Imagine a king about a lack of luxury in his life. True or not, many people (even men) believe men have it made so any men who complain about their lot in life (justified or not) are seen as entitled.
/r/MensRights20/10/21 11:35 PM

Imagine a man with a black eye. Now imagine a woman with a black eye. Many people (I would argue pretty much everyone) has a more visceral reaction to the woman with the black eye. We instinctively react with more anger and protectiveness. Why? Because we are biologically hard wired to want to protect women as they are the child bearers. This often translates to us paying more attention to issues that negatively affect women than men.
