I started watching it! And then started rewatching it with a friend but we have not finished it yet. I watched her TedTalk too and that kind of sealed it for me. The guy I've been seeing asked me if I learned about any men's issues in school. I surprised myself by saying no because social workers are trained to deal with people problems yet those issues were not part of my formal education. That's kind of what started me on this journey

Yeah I was worried my personal bias would slip into my professional practice and my clients would definitely not benefit from that. I'm learning that balance is key. Another user mentioned that these ideologies are tools that I can create a personal toolbox for myself for. I feel silly that I never looked at it like that. Finding RPW felt like a breathe of fresh air but at the same time like a loss of my old self oddly enough. So I love that in reality everything is not so black and white.

So I've definitely been thinking about your comment and I realize I've been engaging in all or nothing thinking because it didn't even occur to me that I could pick aspects from birth RPW and feminism. I thought it was an either or scenario. I love that I'm not the only one walking that line. I can pick whatever tools I need for my toolbox. It's so simple but so genius!

I like that a lot actually. My conversations with other self identified feminists were not super helpful in that regard. But I love that there are active feminists addressing issues on both side of the gender coin. I need more of those conversations!

I wasn't very clear in my original question. My issue with feminism isn't my nurturer role, it's that I feel like men and mens issues are not addressed with feminism. Even the name is super exclusionary. But in my practice the theory is still really relevant. I have so many thoughts floating around in my head haha I guess I didn't get them all out in the way I intended.

Do you think I can be a feminist and still advocate for men and men's rights? Edit: I left this part out of my original question but I love my fellow women. But I also love humans in general and humans include men. I feel like men and mens issues are not addressed with feminism. Even the name is super exclusionary.
