The whole point is to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt. So a reasonable person would always believe this person is guilty. Normal everyday Joe's are assumed to be reasonable, so if one has enough doubt to say "not guilty" then clearly it isn't proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
