I listen to NYT’s The Daily podcast and today’s episode had a quote from her about how no one in the royal family has asked her if she’s okay. That’s such a basic question. If big things are happening, your family should be asking if you’re okay. That’s the basic, lowest bar possible.

The older we get, the less the age gap matters but it’s always something to pay attention to. The best relationships have commonality and age can be a huge deterrent to building commonality. It sounds like one of those dudes that thinks it’s cool to have a sad as long as you are doing it in an instagram-able way. He thinks his life is an indie film. I had an ex like that. When I called him at 11pm because I just found out my childhood dog had died, his advice was to go down to the Potomac River and throw a stick in it in memory of my dog because that’s what my dog “would have wanted”. At 11:00 at night. In DC. By myself. I was like, my life is not a music video.
