if you're okay living on the outskirts of town, winter hill isn't bad. It's still pretty gritty but Assembly Square is right there. Southie is too expensive and over-hyped. I'd also recommend the better parts of Dorchester too. You can find a 4 bed 1 bath for like 650 a month there if you're okay splitting a bathroom between 4 people...

haha I live in Cambridge and oh my you are spot on about the cambridge Hipster. Some of them are such douche-nozels and they are such betas. Just go to Lamplighter on any given Friday night and you will find plenty. I figure most of these guys are orbiters for the women they hang around.

I would argue the latter, there is plenty of stuff out there that reinforces the notion to rebel against your parents which can lead into emerging as an adult. We are naturally inclined to worship the ones that raised us and share half our DNA with.

I'm 24 rn and it seemed to happen about 8 months ago right around my 24th birthday. I noticed my dad treating me differently, he started coming to me with his problems and treating me like an adult. Then I started to realize I had emerged from his shadow and I was in control of my own life. It was relatively disappointing, I saw my dad as lesser of a person and frankly, just like anyone else his age, he was no longer above me. However, I am on a path that I want to go down and not one that is su…

I have an ex that went there, she didn't necessarily fit the profile you're describing but she definitely knew people who did... Yeah, those are the type of girls that REALLY hit the wall. The hot young fun hipster thing doesn't work as well for women in their late 20's and early 30's.

I think it's both supply and demand and exploitation. Yes, there are plenty of willing women wanting to get into the business to make a lot of money (some webcam girls make upwards of $160k). But because there is so much demand, the porn producers have the upper hand to make the contracts more in favor of their needs instead of the porn actresses because of the demand. This translates into some "loose" language in the contracts that leads the porn stars to have to perform very demeaning acts. An…

There's an episode on this about this on the Netflix documentary Hot Girls Wanted. The majority of 18-year-olds that get into porn don't last more than a few months. While they are consenting adults, the main reason they don't last long is that the type of work required to stay in the industry gets more and more demanding and hardcore. It goes from a typical guy and girl action to an orgy with weird shit going on in the scene. It's their consent to do this but with the contracts in the industry,…

A dark reality but a very real one. The porn industry is dark but that doesn't mean that it is any more demeaning than the mainstream Hollywood industry.

The only US cities with active live club scenes are Chicago, San Fran, LA, New York, Miami, Vegas and like maybe DC. Every other city that has a fun nightlife like an Austin, Boston, Pittsburgh, Nashville or Denver or really any other metro area isn't really known for a clubbing scene. It's more of a niche venue than in Europe.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/11/17 03:41 PM
1

IMO nightclubs are a much more commonplace in Europe than the US. It seems to me that clubbing is much more normalized and ingrained in the culture than the US. For example, an average Midwestern city like Kansas City probably doesn't have a lot going on with its nightclub scene while an average central European city like Frankfort or Zurich probably has a much more lively nightclub scene. Point being is that the types of people and crowds that nightclubs in the US attract vs Europe is pretty di…

I think it's all to gain attention, if you make something hyperbolic then you can gain a better crowd of stronger followers. Women like men who are confident, assertive, have boundaries, aren't desperate, and don't put them on a pedestal = women like dominant, aggressive assholes! I will say that in some of the posts on TRP there is some very sensible advice that reflects the prior part. Then at times it just goes too fat. The amount of times I've heard guys be like "I'm asshole girls like me!" …

What do you define as socio-economic status? I find your definition to be banal. You are not distinguishing the difference between socioeconomic background as well as your own socioeconomic status that you have created for yourself, which is different. Have you taken this into consideration?

/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/17 12:46 PM

Agreed most people don't start "dating around", they stick with what they are used to. I'd say hypergamy makes the argument that Men would be more likely to date different socio-economic backgrounds than women. Being in a large metropolitan city gives you the best bet for dating different socioeconomic backgrounds and there are other outlets like volunteer groups and social sports leagues. These types of groups are fully diverse. The problem is most people don't take advantage of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 05:55 PM

Yeah it gets much more apparent out of school when people start dating out of the same socio-economic background as they are used to in their undergrad and grad level.

Satatisically speaking, marrying in the 4-5 year range between sexes is 13.3% with men being older than women and 3.3% with women being older. Link It does happen, just less likely. Hypergamy doesn't mean that the man has to be "above you" it could also mean at the same level as well.

Also think about the fact that a 23-year-old woman can date a 27-year-old guy and the opposite just doesn't happen. That's Hypergamy right there for you. I wouldn't assume that that girl is sleeping around with a bunch of dudes, but she is probably seeking attention from multiple men.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 04:52 PM
1

Yeah, you especially see this with ignorant high-status males like Athletes and rappers. They generally have large egos and a lot of money so they have the means to have multiple baby mamas. Also, the women who are baby mamas are typically not the most moral of women. There's a reason why they end up together.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:37 PM

There's such a disparity in the men at this age. People graduate around 22 and then transition into a job setting but then you have to think about the men that are not in college, like those in the military but also those who chose not to go to school. About 36% of people aged 25-34 have bachelor's degrees. Not sure what the breakdown of men to women is in this bracket. Link and who is to say that you can't earn a degree and get laid!
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:27 PM
4

Also a male ego thing, feeling like you have passed on your lineage to multiple women. I wonder how much of evolutionary psychology plays a role in this? With sperm being plentiful, aren't men hardwired to spread their seed to as many women as possible? That's not to say that logic and reason won't override the system, maybe the "dimmer" men don't have as high as an iq so they are more ignorant in their relationship choices and revert to a more evolutionary "spread the seed" means.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:17 PM

Yeah and I disagree with JP on the happiness study of how women are unhappier since the early 1960's. I don't think that is the point and sooo much has changed in the last 50+ years that I think the mere definition of happiness has changed, especially that of a woman. Having more choice doesn't necessarily make you happier, it can make you unhappier because it makes it difficult.

Nice girls finish last too. IMO these are the girls that keep going back to Jerks and Assholes even though they should know better. Sadly these are the ones that end up alone and depressed at age 30 wondering where the quality men are. It's not that there aren't any, it's that they keep attracting the wrong ones. Simply put you are what you attract and if you are needy (guy or girl) you will attract a bitch or an asshole.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/09/17 01:52 PM
3

Both are needy individuals who are submitting their own needs for others and not setting clear boundaries for their own needs first. This is spot on in how males and females do this.

Agreed, I live in Boston and meeting out at night is a way better way. I've found that with a lot of the dating apps there seems to be a big impediment on meeting up, like her living outside the city or working outside the city.

Yeah there is an Episode of "Hot Girls Wanted" and it really goes into depth about what the day-day looks like for a male porn star and it is not a glamorous job. You have to be able to hold in your load for hours and if you bust early you jeopardize the whole shoot. What we consume is the edited version which seems way more pleasant than the work that goes into it.

Obama made a good attempt at this with making (or trying to make, I can't remember) community colleges free. That's a good start and you can get useful degrees at community colleges like nursing but I would imagine fail at teaching other useful skills.

So much of this problem has to do with a lack of the proper skills for the workforce today. For Example, The Number 1 job in demand for 2017 is wind turbine technician according to The Economist. This is a skill that someone can learn, now granted, there are not a lot of wind turbines in rural parts of America which poses a problem. Rural parts of America are screwed, the blue collar factory jobs aren't coming back and the only future I see for them is to move to cities and try to learn a skill …

IMO it's an inverse relationship, Feminists want power and the ultimate form of power is to be in control of oneself. I would argue that letting someone pull your hair, dirty talk and spank you is a sign that you are in control and can let both sexes do their thing (ie men dominate and women submit). Definitely a huge benefit of feminism.

This stems from the whole notion of child worship which has bred a generation of entitlement. No wonder so many 20-something-year-olds are struggling to find their place in society.

I feel like ghosting is so stupid, like literally just texting the girl that you're not interested in seeing her anymore is soooo easy. All you do is send her a text along the lines of "hey I enjoyed our time but I'm no longer interested in seeing you, I wish you the best". For fuck sake, it avoids so much unnecessary drama and bullshit. You don't even owe her an explanation depending on the situation (ie was it a date or 2 or an LTR for 6 months?).
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/17 01:14 PM
1

It's not a literal "don't become vulnerable around women" it's the intentions behind a lot of the strategies. Plate spinning, for example, is about seeing as many girls as possible at once. It's unrealistic to think that you can become vulnerable around a woman because you are also seeing others at the same time. Besides, I've found it to be personally unfulfilling.

The rape fantasy is intertwined with a female desire complex that a woman is desired so much that a man loses control of his inhibitions to the point where he rapes her.

Plus he can have the pick of the litter, he has serious options and clearly has been using them. If he doesn't want to commit he doesn't have to. I think this plays into the female desire complex where she feels like "she can be the one to change him", it's the Taming the beast female fantasy in real life. Unfortunately it more often than not just ends in the woman feeling like she has been used.

I would say by removing porn you can only increase your success with women IME. Not to say that you can't be successful while watching porn, but if you want truer intimacy and to emotionally connect, you might as well try not watching porn for an extended period of time to see if it improves your relationships with woman.

/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/17 07:45 PM

I feel this is more on a subconscious level than a conscious level. We may not even be aware of the way that porn affects us. It's more about the dopamine high that you get with porn that is similar to that of cocaine that's the underlying problem. It's not about expectations and reality but more about what porn does to your brain as a guy.

Just a suggestion...
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/17 07:35 PM

It's not about thinking, I'm making the point about behavior. I bet if you stopped watching porn, you would behave better around women.

Yeah there is an episode of "Hot Girls Wanted" on Netflix that goes into how an Australian guy falls for a web cam girl. I don't think guys use it for emotional connections, I think when guys do try to emotionally connect with a woman by opening up, porn creates neediness and creates objectification which hinders connecting with a woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/17 03:01 PM
3

It definitely is subjective from guy to guy. I feel that it can only do harm and can't benefit a guy. I do know it is a VERY powerful technology and can be detrimental to man's psyche (speaking from experience). I feel that the detrimental effects of porn in how men connect emotionally aren't discussed enough, hence why I felt compelled to post about this subject. I would think of it more as "putting yourself at risk" on an emotional level. This requires a lot of courage and self-control because it is hard for a guy to open up about insecurities and flaws in an appropriate manner. By "putting yourself at risk" you can get hurt emotionally by a woman but there is no reward for a great emotional connection without any risk.

The best frame to think of what you are discussing is the idea of "The overcompensating Alpha" where men who are drawn to TRP are overcompensating for a number of different reasons. Most notably are the fact that they have been in shitty relationships and are looking for reasons as to why they ended up in shitty relationships. What the red pill gives them is both good and bad. They find a means to improve themselves and also a means find blame. That's not to say that men don't find TRP and impro…
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/17 07:07 PM

I think this is so valid as to why so many men in the TRP struggle with this, because being vulnerable by nature is putting yourself at risk. You could get hurt emotionally if a woman rejects you or you could not have intimacy returned which can brutal. I personally feel that the idea of vulnerability or "to put yourself at risk" is very masculine because of the potential consequences and even in my own experience, when I have made a healthy conscious effort to do this, I have ended up hurt and …

Agreed. I feel a lot of men struggle with this because it can feel uncomfortable at 1st to express your flaws and insecurities from a position of strength and confidence. As to why men struggle with this problem, "No More Mr. Nice Guy" is a great place to learn why men have trouble expressing vulnerability in a healthy manner.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/08/17 05:36 PM

This is very in-line with Mark Manson and how he describes "Vulnerability" A lot of it has to do with the intentions of what you are communicating and where I see a lot of confusion between the TRP and the TBP.
