The term has been actually widely adopted in Greece, after the murder of a woman by her husband, which was the number 1 media story for a couple months. At first he blamed illegal immigrants but he finally confessed after evidence pointed to him doing it. And from now on every time a woman is murdered the term femicide has come up.

Yes it is a matter of respect even if you don't believe. It is not even private property. The monks have their own STATE. Like literally a country. Showing some respect wouldn't hurt.
