I don't think that way of you at all. But there are women out there who can't speak their minds without fear of reprocussion. Think of all the celebrities who tried coming out saying they support women but not feminism. And I know people who risk being shunned by friends and family if they speak their minds. I appreciate your vocal support. I meant no disrespect.

I'd be more concerned with my sudden change. But assuming I was laser focused on MRA, not much that would actually be effective. Feminists bully, harass, and marginalize those who break rank and file. Most reasonable women don't have an effective voice on their side of the fence.

God this is so wrong. And frustrates me to no end that there are these people out here who advocate for female sexual abuse victims yes deny the existence of female on male rape. People say it's harmful to question the validity of victim rape claims but apply it unequally. If it's harmful to the victim to tell them you have doubts about the validity of their claim, how harmful is it to deny the possibility of it even ever happening? It's a different set of rules for men and the people pushing it…

I'd say toxic masculinity is when someone acts in a damaging way because of a negative preconception of masculinity and possibly a desire to affirm said masculinity.

Maybe because the clinical nature of the word they see it as objectifying? Maybe imagine a similar sentence using the word male and see how it makes you feel? Examples of times it upset someone would help.

K that's nonsense. Yes there is such a thing as toxic masculinity. Like the urge to attack someone for words against their spouse. Most cases called toxic masculinity are utter BS but it does happen where someone acts toxic due to their perception of masculinity.

You're quoting a man who was killed for his beliefs by nazi's. He didn't even make it to his 40th birthday. Great example to follow.

Men have no reproductive rights post conception and are forced to pay child support. Even a man tricked into signing a birth certificate has no recourse if he later finds out it isn't his biological child. Men also lose custody cases even when they're obviously a more stable home for the child. Not to mention said mother of child can come after you up to 20 years after the child is born to demand all that child support you'd have owed those 18 years.

Well if the issue is: "I'm not being treated as a man when I am a trans man" Then clearly (to me) that is a trans issue. If the issue is: "I got beaten in the street for being a man" Or "I was denied a job opportunity because I'm a man" Those are clearly (to me) mens rights issues. I appreciate your input even if you dont agree.

How does "they were kids" make this any better?!

Abuse victim shelters? No I'm not against them. And I understand some of the need for them to be gendered. Though it doesn't make sense in all cases. However men have very little representation in this way despite being frequent victims of abuse as well.

It isn't taking away from women. They still have the right to use a gym. Unlike men being excluded from some gyms like Curves based on gender. They may have to travel farther than reasonable to attend another gym. What next, women only grocery stores? It isn't all that big of a leap to say that "because it makes women uncomfortable" will lead to more spaces being exclusionary to men.
/r/MensRights28/01/22 10:09 PM

Not necessarily so. Asians have been known for some time to enjoy a privileged class in western society. And white men have their problems marginalized because of things like "white privilege". Like our problems are lesser because were white.

Trans rights is it's own thing and needs to be addressed separately. However if someone is recognized and treated as a man they can certainly be affected by mens rights. Everyone deserves respect and dignity and not to be met with discrimination or unfair treatment because of their membership to a protected class(or what should be a protected group). So I'd personally say trans men do have room to be included.
/r/MensRights28/01/22 09:46 PM

So you say but what does that matter? Discrimination is still discrimination. If I decided to open a business and then discriminated against women there would be outrage. Even if it was milder than this. Your arguments have reduced to sad excuses.
/r/MensRights28/01/22 03:29 AM
2

There literally isn't equivalent facilities which is part of the problem. The business offers a service to one gender and not the other. It has discriminatory practices.
/r/MensRights28/01/22 03:24 AM
5

Theres differences between races as well. Certain races grow taller on average; different skin tones offer varied protection from UV light, different races are prone to different health issues. There are many differences between races but it has been deemed unacceptable to treat races differently. Personal insecurity is no excuse for racism and it's no excuse for sexism.

Just because you're afraid of a group doesn't make it ok to create all these segregated spaces. This is no different a path than 'racial segregation'. If anything it has the makings to be worse. Because to ask for a male only space is to commit social suicide. There is no reason a gym needs to be segregated.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 07:12 AM
3

Comparing the two is completely sensible in the case of discrimination. And that's how men are treated. If you're a man you're treated like a rapist, abuser, murderer. This desire for "safe spaces" is almost entirely discriminatory and blatant segregation.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 07:08 AM
6

You really dont see the issue with segregation? Because that's what this is. I am not a murderer, a rapist, or an abuser but because of my gender I get treated like one. That is discrimination.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 07:03 AM
21

And how is it any better that they DO NOT even offer the equal part of "separate but equal". If anything it's worse.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 07:00 AM

Female only spaces are widespread across western culture. In schools there are special study groups offered to women only. Earl Silverman was a domestic abuse victim who wanted to open a shelter for abused men. He was bullied and harassed, called a woman hater, and ultimately commited suicide because of it. And all he wanted was the first shelter for abused men. Theres many more examples like this where men have challenged the lack of male only spaces in response to female only ones only to have…
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:56 AM
12

It's discriminatory. They are not offering all the same services to both genders. If I lived in this neighborhood and wanted to go to a gym I would be offered less because I'm not a woman. The court even weighed in saying it violated the law and the protected rights of the male patrons.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:50 AM
10

Well it is a personal problem when women are uncomfortable around all men. All men aren't the problem and punishing the group for a few bad actors has been widely recognized as unfair and cruel for many generations.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:46 AM
12

No but I think it might help to be treated the same way you're advocating treating men. Exclusion based on gender and personal feelings. Because men are regularly excluded in society more and more because of these awful reasons.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:34 AM
14

That's a very personal problem that you're saying should be taken out on innocent men. An all women gym is discriminatory at it's core.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:29 AM
13

You cant just provide a female only space if you're not going to offer all the same services to men. Its discriminatory.
/r/MensRights27/01/22 01:26 AM
32

I would be fine with a business providing a female only space IF they offer all the same services in a male only space. If a business wants to pay for double the equipment than that's fine. What's not ok is excluding a gender.

Smoking? Maybe. Fat? No. Being fat isn't a choice. We're taught all through school the effect of drugs and why we shouldn't use them. It's a choice to pick up drugs.
/r/MensRights16/01/22 09:44 AM
2

My solution is to make everything legal and regulate pricing so its affordable. Follow that up with rejecting those who use without prescription from state and federal healthcare. The people shouldn't have to pay for it. We all know pretty well what these drugs do so it should be the individual's responsibility if it leads to illness. It's a grim position but I feel like it would solve a lot of issues.
/r/MensRights16/01/22 07:54 AM

I feel like drug usage and suicide are too different of beasts to be compared together so closely. Personally I dislike drug use and its users. They're a selfish bunch and the addictive qualities of opioids and opiates destroy anything redeeming about the individual as they will often do anything to get that fix. They will be a drain on the system and their families for the rest of their lives in most cases. Suicide isn't easy to accept but at least it isn't drawn out.

I would gladly talk about misandry at length. However because the topic of my post concerned misogyny people kept pressing that angle. I'm a centrist but when pushed into a corner I'll defend a point I agree with. The point in this case being that misogyny exists. Is far as my intelligence goes I like to think I'm smart and I did score well in school but that doesn't make me wise. I've met people younger and/or not as intellectual yet far wiser. As for you I personally like your approach. It isn…

Oh we absolutely cannot control everyone and there is no way to ever "solve" misogyny. But there are things you can do. It's completely unrealistic to expect to do away with these kind of behaviors entirely.

In todays world so many people have completely antithetical views to each other and yet operate and the same social flag. If anything this makes it more important than ever to share thoughts and opinions rather than operate on these tribalistic social groupings that no longer represent a cohesive idea.

You dislike my position so you ignore the rest of it where I actually make solid points. Fantastic. I hope you enjoy a long life with your head in the sand because you're never going to get anything accomplished. How can you expect to change anything if you can't even talk with me, someone who probably shares a lot of your concerns about men's rights.
/r/MensRights06/08/21 06:08 PM

No theres not such a group. But does that excuse misogyny? Are we really going to get anywhere if we say "take misandry seriously while we disregard your concerns of misogynists"? Yes there's less regard for men in society. But you can't expect people to listen to you when you ignore them. Most of feminism nowadays is just toxic bellyaching. But there are still serious issues that we need to address.

I'm defending it because any objective person can clearly see there are people out there that hate women. How is this debatable? I didnt give it my own definition I referenced its dictionary definition multiple times when writing these posts. Albeit interpreted into my words but I didn't change any meanings. And you saying that the dictionary definition doesn't matter does not matter to me. You're not going to control my language any more than I'll like some SJW do the same. Misogyny is not so l…

You must be talking to someone else because if not youve completely strawmanned the entire conversation. Misogynists exist. I'm not calling just anyone a misogynist. I'm not smearing anyone nor am I validating it.

Clearly there are some in the community who are so bigoted the do hate the concept of feminism. Though it seems there is many who don't. I'm more frustrated with the MRA's who seem to think they can reject some men and their speech entirely, just because they dont agree with their approach to certain topics. You cant say a movement is for X Group and reject members within X Group. How can a movement represent men if it silences them?

You do not get a monopoly on mens rights. It isn't yours or mine. Mens rights belongs to all men. You haven't even tried to understand my position. Not once. That is bad faith. So I'll be the one to extend the olive branch. What positions is it that you espouse?

Your Hitler arguments have all the tactfulness and wit of a large rock. If Hitler was alive today first he'd be facing charges of war crimes. He'd be charged and I don't honestly know what the punishment for war crimes are. So let's assume the punishment is death. Then he'd still get a chance to say his final words. As is customary. So yes he would be allowed to speak. There's your pointless and inane bullshit humored.

Thank you. You might be half-blind but you see a lot more than most people. If you're not prepared to have your own ideas challenged and, in some cases, changed then you're never going to make headway in a debate. People can easily tell when your position and opinions are immutable and will further entrench in their own views in response.

Bigotry is never ok. It's close minded and will not further anyones goals but the worst of your opponents. "Look, see! They hate us. They won't hear our thoughts. They dismiss us before we even speak." It hasnt worked at all for the true ideals of feminism. Women's voices are silenced and dismissed within the movement because they no longer support the status quo. Celebrities are forced into affirming feminism because if they dont they get cancelled. This is a fascist regime forming around them …

Ah I see. Honestly after talking with him his stance just seemed confused. He denounced feminism while espousing unsupporting views of "alt-right" directly related to several feminist buzz topics. Then denied misogyny as a whole which would completely invalidate his claim of the alt-right being some kind of manipulate women to get laid ploy. I couldn't say that he actually espoused any one particularly clear viewpoint.

I. Am. Not a. Troll. My opinions are my thoughts. Not some attempt to disrupt conversation as you are outright doing. You dont like the conversation taking place so you choose to disrupt and dismiss rather than put your own arguments to the figurative fire. Your actions are reductive to conversation which is the exact behavior of a troll. Trolls dont seek to engage. They only disrupt until the conversation is reduced to frustration.

People didn't take the nazi's seriously. They were considered rabblerousers until their party was big enough to take over. And you're right. Feminists do control the media by in large. But we can't just stay the silent majority. By talking with people we can bring the more reasonable people around. Many feminists are reasonable people who dont share the extreme views. But they see an angry ocean of people who seem to hate feminism which to them is ostensibly a moral movement. This polarizes them…

Are you calling me a feminist? I honestly consider myself an egalitarian with a pro-MRA focus at the current point. But I'll adopt a position I dont usually concern myself with to try to reason with others rather than continue the echo chamber. I believe it's best to try and accurately represent genuine concerns when they exist. And i consider feminism to have (some) valid concerns. Some not so valid, such as systemic sexism.
/r/MensRights01/08/21 08:52 AM

It doesn't mean we have to platform those ideas. But to dismiss people or even block them from the discussion will only breed resentment, anger, and ultimately extremism. Because if you leave any ability for free speech they will tell their story and gain sympathy in their echo chambers. You combat extremism with calm collected speech. Open discussion is the only way to proceed with a free democratic nation.

I'm not a troll. Dismissing my opinions as trolling is part of the problem. You're not listening. Neither side of any modern debate is listening and it is unbelievably frustrating for those of us in the middle. Treating people shitty is still shitty even if pointing it out supports the PC culture of the time. I've seen both female and male coworkers treated poorly because of gender, for instance. Misogyny and misandry are both wrong and both prevalent in society. They do not require exclusivity …

I find conservatives more accepting nowadays than the left. As a gay individual I'm often ostracized for my centrist views. Even called a traitor or fake gay. But even in a rural conservative community I've got support from many people.

The thing is most people don't start extremist. If we engage in dialogue with respect and openness we can sway opinions to a middle ground. As you said most extremism is born of censorship and I'd add echo-chambers. They communicate with only like minded people and they end up villianizing a strawman of their fears.
