I get that the major issue here is that there wasn't any control group, let alone a male study, but I have a bigger problem. You're using politicians and journalists to make a blanket statement about all women's rate of abuse on twitter? A lot of people send hate mail to politicians and journalists all the time, especially if they're corrupt and useless. It doesn't matter that they're female, and definitely doesn't represent the rest of the sex.

Ah. That's cleared it up. I wouldnt be surprised if some griper managed to make some unfounded argument for it though.

If women paid extra for the women only side they'd find some way to spin that as gender based discrimination based on cost though. Even if there was a coed option.

they are so insufferable that women hate them Think this is the reason at large. Reasonable women hate them. They exist, they're just normal so you don't hear their opinion because theyre lumped in with the other agendas.

legitimate cause of public annoyance It's not though? Most of the sane public don't give a shit about this because 1) it's only antisocial if you're affecting other people (like the person next to you. Not the feminist getting offended and blowing things way out of proportion because your balls needed some free space and the principles of it makes her announce this from the other side of your bus). 2) it's not a big issue at all to just ask someone to give them more space. Men will ask men to gi…

I'm sure we could sit and debate this all day, but there's nothing new getting brought up here. I get all your points and I agree with most of them I just want you to understand where I'm coming from when I say that the right people in feminism (the people who quietly *don't * fight against men's rights) are the people we want to be as accepting as possible towards. One of my female friends identify as feminist and during my discourse with her we've found out that actually we don't have many, if…

I'm glad this came to a reasonable conclusion. I'm fine with trying to persuade reasonable feminists not too far gone - I can't be bothered with a lot of the hardcore superfemifascists, I simply don't believe they're worth my time and effort. I enjoy talking to people who will ask questions about my beliefs if they'll listen to what I have to say and I'll quite happily do the same for them. These feminuts as you call them I shall leave to you.
/r/MensRights07/06/17 11:31 PM

Yes. Exactly the sort of thing like calling them a cult is unproductive when you're speaking to someone who might come around to a more reasonable way of thinking. As I've mentioned several times, us and them is not the mentality that solves problems.

You might believe MRAs are the middle but anyone identifying as feminist definitely doesn't. Just assuming you're correct is what causes friction in the first place. If we're going to get technical on where the middle lies I think you'll find egalitarians, by definition, are the most neutral. Hence middle. MRA carries the connotations of fighting for men's rights just like feminism carries the connotations of women's rights. Labelling causes with or against attitudes. I wholeheartedly believe MR…

No, but the principal of hypocrisy is ridiculous. Men don't even want men marketed screenings with less women, let alone demanding exclusion (and being snarky little shits while they're at it). There would be utter outrage universally if that happened. Or with any other set of demographics. I think unreasonable behaviour should be discouraged, not allowed after they insult people for pointing out hypocritical values.

Feminism might be a cult but not all it's followers are blind cultists. Being hostile to them is counter productive to the true search for equality.
/r/MensRights07/06/17 05:37 PM

I at least agree with this more than the other response. But debate and understanding solve issues, and there's been very, very little of that between both movements.

Right. I might be tired but are you fucking kidding me are you comparing feminists to a group of people who dressed in robes to routinely hang innocent black men. They're bad. I know. I'm a man, I identify as MRA and deal with the backlash of that a lot but this is not the same thing. You're being ridiculous. There are a lot of reasonable feminists who, and especially after the red pill, are now more sympathetic to our movement than they have been in years. If anything this is the ideal time to,…

No I think the middle is the best place. Less witch hunting, more passionate people agreeing on problems is a good step forward. Women still have issues in society, just men have got some ones that are immediately pressing to men...and women. The legal system is still an issue for men and I would agree with feminists that women have issues in the social spectrum. Edit: both sides have those issues among other things. I'm tired and can't be assed writing a full sized post right now.

The article mentions one thing from Hawkins I agree with. The cinema could have marketed it towards women quietly and deliberately without being exclusive. Selling female fond treats, asking male staff members if they want to work in other screens that night, marketing it as girly generally discourages men anyway. Why do they feel the need to be so damn conflicting with everything? Marketing exists for a reason - to target a demographic - and being overly hostile just results in exactly this sor…

This. We need to learn from feminism's mistakes. They overstepped equality in the west, we don't need to bring it back to the other side of unfairness again. Although I would enjoy going through uni without worrying about getting my life ruined. What are the chances right?

Which is impossible on Tinder for anyone below the attractive bar as even liking every profile you see can not generate a single match for weeks.
/r/MensRights04/03/17 04:02 AM

Sure you can always say no or yes but the fact is that that option is only available to 20% of guys. The rest of us aren't so lucky as to even be in the consideration, as there are 80% less girls available and interested in us as with the 20% of guys. As said in response to another comment this isn't something I believe in its whole, just what the original comment meant and what it refers to commonly.
/r/MensRights04/03/17 03:58 AM
1

It did a bit, but no worries. I'm not sure how true it is to America, but I've heard it often enough to be a recognisable phrase in Britain. It's mostly a nod to a zero sum game where the 80% of guys left now have maximum possibility of 20% girls. I don't think it was meant to be accurate, but it does seem to be at least partially true as an assumption.
/r/MensRights04/03/17 12:26 AM

I guess it isn't quite 0% then. It's still an unfun statistic for when you get 2 matches a month.

Instead of deliberately reading the front page of MR its probably a way better idea to read part of it not filled with clickbait. You know, in case youre afraid of actually looking at issues rather than watching us bitch.

If I can say something on this as both my aunts are pretty far in Academia. This point has to be one of the only feminist things theyve talked to me about that sounded genuinely shitty. Noone sensible in Britain denies the existance of a nanny state or claims freedom of expression. Our tory government is slowly leading us into a scarily dysotopian future what with the new snooper charter passed and all its silly laws getting around because its populace doesnt fully understand what theyre doing. Not necessarily true. I've done some grunt work in fundraising for those charities and most of it works out at about two thirds going to research. Thats a lot, however one third of the funding goes into awareness/fundraising campaigns which is still hundreds of millions of pounds.

And here we have the wild troll, doing it's best to not look at a sub's merits and instead support a wildly sexist and potentially incredibly powerful bitch to get into power. MensRights deals with Men's issues (mostly, but not all) because noone else does, as evident by the fact that one of our biggest issues is potentially going to be made even bigger because women need coddling in prisons. The tilt is starting, mostly it's just getting the ridiculous views out of the mainstream media and politics that's our goal now. If feminists would separate a bit more and the true feminists kicked the radfems into their own group it'd be a lot easier.
/r/MensRights24/05/16 04:33 PM
3

Now we sit on the other side of that. However, we must make sure that if 40 years down the line we make progress we don't do what feminism did and totally ruin the point of our movement by becoming narcissistic and selfish.

I still don't understand the reason women need those spaces to be left for them though, even if it's unofficial. There might be a biological strength difference requiring more strain on them with bags at a retail park, but it's really not that big and it just sounds silly.
/r/MensRights28/03/16 04:21 PM
2

It does, but at the same time what about weak, disabled or obese people as a whole? If we're really pushing for equality, shouldn't those spaces be saved for anyone in need of them and being set aside as such, rather than just "women."

That was a fantastic article I may well be showing to people. My point of this is asking what priveledges the average guy has on the streets, the special shit and recognition we apparently get 364/365 days of the year. I don't see shit of it, but I can't see that as a white poor guy so I need someone else to inform me. The 'patriarchy' might be institutionalised to them but feminists in research and government positions are much more common to us, and sounds to me like they're making these studies too. Despite that, there's still all these wonderfully shocking facts that they managed to 'skew' in mens favour...by like 2 times as many girls as guys for most things. Ugh...
/r/MensRights01/02/16 01:31 PM

Theres no way I'd take a failed part time job application to court, this is more just showing a stigma amongst students trying to get jobs. Pussypasd applies.
/r/MensRights18/10/15 02:07 PM

Considering I was turned down from a part time job because "they didn't have male staff toilets" (it was a jewellers, but wanted untrained staff so still..) it's no wonder this hasn't been called out on legal issues yet. Eventually it will be impossible for me to find a part time job because male toilets won't exist anymore.

I say this as a new computer games dev student at uni, do feminists really need to take the sexualisation of some games away from guys who might want it too when they're already extremely good at "alienating" nerds themselves? The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I'm in my last year of school here, so I still feel the educational norms. From my personal perspective, my enjoyment of my subjects can be improved (and therefor my learning - enjoying something makes you more likely to work well in it) by allowing me to pursue my own interests in that field. I'm sure that our system could be changed to allow and award that, but it doesn't seem to be happening.

I'd love to see more female "nerds." At the moment we have mostly "I'm such a geek" attention whores and an incredible minority of the actual geeky girls, and they are so much easier to interact with than most other females. They use logic, rational thought and kindness (most of the time) in their interactions and are more understanding of an actual geek's situation.

I'm pretty shy outside of the internet so I must agree with you that I am probably emasculated. The important thing here is why that is, as well as what happened. My entire life I've been taught to avoid the social minefield that is spending time around a woman, and now women call me sexist and afraid of females as a result of their fucking tardy and self righteous reactions to me interacting with them or showing interest. I used to live in Aus as a kid, and that was one thing that I remember. There was literally no choice as to my clothes, anywhere. It doesn't really change much as you move out of kids clothes and into mens in any supermarket though. There's always at least twice as much women's stuff. Not too big an issue for me except in shops in London, where everything either looks...for risk of being politically incorrect...camp, hipster, or out of stock.

I think that'd be fine but the problem here is that male bathrooms have privacy issues. I wouldn't be comfortable using a urinal infront of women, just as I'm not comfortable using them in France where they're outside the toilets. If they changed all the toilets to cubicles and made them unisex that'd be fine.

It's definitely dependent on the teacher. Write a good essay with some semblance of original viewpoints on the argument and if the teacher isn't veraciously feminist (which my english teacher was so I avoided the topic altogether for the sake of grades) you should get a nice grade from it. Don't copy/paste. Do come up with something different from the literally terabytes of articles out there. Don't rant. Do show you are right in a non-rant way.
/r/MensRights27/10/14 11:36 PM

You could always write an essay about how men are still expected to be chivalrous and polite, but that would be beating a dead horse with another dead horse.
/r/MensRights27/10/14 11:30 PM
3

Traditionally men would take the dangerous jobs as they were better paying, more physical labour which women would not be as likely to choose. For example, mining and deep sea fishing are both very dangerous, very physical labours which men have always done, keeping women safely in supporting and much less dangerous roles.
/r/MensRights27/10/14 11:22 PM
4

Male disposability is a good one to write about. You can write about male deaths in the workplace, what safety measures can be put into place to stop those deaths and how women could share the burden of dangerous jobs. Another option is to automate dangerous jobs - although that would remove the need for a workforce, also bad.
/r/MensRights27/10/14 10:43 PM

/r/MensRights25/10/14 09:04 AM

That was another part of the debate. That's what I mean by its a complex series of incidents. Some say radfems trying to frame gamers/mensrights, others say extremist gamers and then again you have another party saying it was just the gaming community as a whole. It's hard to tell which, but it definitely wasn't the whole community. I didn't like what was going on but I'd never hand out death threats.

It's been a long and complicated movement. It'd take a very long time and hundreds of sources to show you where it went wrong. It mostly happened because more irrational gamers sent death threats to quinn and her bed-lackeys following the incident. Then SJW's, feminists and others got involved on her end and started the usual "oppression" war. Blew up from there really. If you're interested enough its worth looking into it further. GamersGate started as a movement protesting against corruption in gaming journalism (as far as I know) after the Zoe Quinn incident. It was revealed she slept around and censored her way to getting her sub-par game "Depression Quest" known.

GamersGate was an important step in removing corruption from journalism, but yes, if people are being targetted with death threats then it's gone too far. I have no idea who is doing this, but they should most definitely be stopping, as they are about to release a shitstorm of antigamer politics upon themself if they do. I most definitely do not like Sarkeesian, but I have respect for Felicia Day and I would never threaten any of them over something like GamersGate.

To answer you first question; I am not a developer yet, but am seriously aiming to pursue it as my career. I'm talking more about the world created by the complex culture gamers seem to have over other "realms," so not quite the fictional worlds - although that is definitely relevant. It is a world I am actively involved in and intend to become a recognised part of in the future. As I am more involved than a lot of others in "reality" people attempting to move issues from other places there is s…

I'm normally pretty antifem, but that's mostly because they never seem egalitarian. Their idealogy is for equality for women. This seems very fair on both parts. I see barely anything wrong with it in the way it's written. I could quite easily take this list and changing very few points apply it to a daughter in place of a son, with no qualms. Edit: Having just read through the comments, one feminist in particular brought up inequalities in the gaming industry. Rant time. The gaming industry is …

That's my biggest issue with Non-MR "Oh what about men too" arguments. They always seem to be "Making things better in this way for men will help women tenfold, therefore we should do it" but if there's no benefit for women in it, not a single shit is given.

I have been here for a while, but whilst I'm aware of the funding disparity it's mostly in everyday ailments such as ridiculously imbalanced heart disease funding, cancer etc. This is a relatively quiet field which I haven't heard about disparity in yet. Would need sources to back it up. One thing I can mention is the outrage in the BBC at Bear Gryll's "The Island" tv show where he takes all sorts of men and puts them to survive on an island. "Why aren't there women!?" on a survival show setting…

I remember doing Higher English, and having to pick an article a week to annotate. Thinking of the Guardian's actually quite good science articles, I picked their newspaper and was shocked by the Comment is Free section. There is absolutely no sort of editing to remove anti-male bullshit from the section. Wouldn't you just love to see how likely it would be to last there for anti-female stuff.

Can confirm. I was years ahead of most of my peers up until ~15. I'm still ahead. Mostly due to my experience with adults being far more than your average child being an only one. Physically I didn't mature as quickly, but people were mistaking me for 17-18 year olds when I was 14.

I am a firm believer that the fight against armchair activist feminism and radical retardation will begin in one of my favourite areas (which I had begin to worry was progressing to the level of infected). The scene where the heli went down and that mission were two of my favourite parts of CoD 4. I dunno what it is. Always felt that helicopter crashes are particularly epic. There's a female Apache/Viper pilot who goes down along with her male copilot (who dies) and you, like you said, have to fight through endless enemies to recover her. You return with her slung over your shoulder to your Chinook, which promptly gets disabled and crashes as the nuke goes off. One of your pals flies out the open back door before you hit the ground and then you spend the next level crawling around waiting for radiation and trauma to kill you. She was also on the Chinook, and I think…

You are aware she died anyway right? I know this has nothing to do with the argument, but she did die in the end along with everyone else in the chopper that went down. However! Women have a tendency to wear extremely thick plot armour in every form of media. Be it games, a tv series, film or anime, the girls always bite it in far less numbers than the guys. Thinking back to WW1 and 2 it'd be nice to have the Civilian-Military deaths ratio. Anyone got some sauce? Because I somewhat doubt that even if Hillary did mean that civilians were to primary affected group in the whole death toll issue the death toll of men from WW1 and 2 would trump it hands down. The only area that wouldn't would be the holocaust victims but that was men, women and children so for the sake of argument we can discount that.

This is why there's no good TV any more. There's a bunch of shows women enjoy that are made up of mostly women. What is the problem with there being male only shows? No one is being sexist to women here, they are just aiming the show towards exploring men's capability towards surviving. It sounds interesting. No one has said women can't. I think the point is that feminists are making sure that research benefiting one gender is put aside to sort out problems that only affect 'both'. Let's not think of a male offender and female child. Ooh, the streets would burn.

This is fucking ridiculous. Absolute censorship by a purist group of cowardly cunts. If they weren't scared why the fuck would they blatantly censor it. What is there to be scared of?

He was one of my "I should probably become an MRA" inspirations. I am aware what feminism once stood for which is why my comment was in present context.

Oh. Would be happy to incorporate that into my knowledge, not gonna remain set in the gender/sex interchangeability. Using that logic I'm probably fairly close to mid, with a decent lean towards male.

Basically what feminism should stand for but doesn't.

I'm just used to thinking of it as whether you're physically male or female I think. Thanks for the elaboration, 'twas very interesting!

The thing is, at that point in time you're still one or the other.

I am not an emotional person. This pushed me to my limits. She deserves fucking life, no less. The stupid cunt took a toddler's life because she was fucking pissed. There should be no remorse in that sentence.

Ohthankfuck. Intelligent life. I'm always scared pissing sitting because sometimes it's at just the right angle to escape out the gap inbetween the seat and the shitter. Then it's messier than if I'd pissed standing up. "I may not be a man, but I still have eyes to see that a man's privates are not designed to sit and pee."

Instead of giving women freebees maybe look at the fact that a lot of women don't want programming scholarships. This goes hand in hand with the "Glass Ceiling" article on the front page today, where a high up female Norwegian politician pointed out that a lot of women don't want those jobs despite there being facilities to encourage them in. All this is doing is discriminating against guys and making it harder for them to get their course. If I saw that on a course I wanted to take it'd be an i…

Some good comments on that. One guy pointed out that, contrary to the video, it's good not being forced into "Rigid masculinity". There's some shit things about being male in western culture, but at least we don't have to give up our lives for some overpampered turds to get off the boats any more. Or do weights every day.

I don't get how people can be so ignorant as to ignore an entire side of the argument. HOW can sexism NOT exist against men? What POSSIBLE reason could make NOT exist.
/r/MensRights27/12/13 09:57 PM

I didn't "give her a pass" I just didn't think about using every word in that sentence. This makes me think that some MRA's are just turning into radfems...

The problem I have with this one is the fact that she also said "Don't have tell the father unless you want child support." Sure, she had a shit time of it, 14, scared, kicked out and alone. The adoption sounded beneficial but in that case the father had the right to know that his underage sex really helped destroy that girl's life. But in other cases, the man has the right to know. That child wouldn't exist without him. It's his too. Men aren't just child support piñatas.

I have no experience in this past reading articles, but if he gets a successful case surely that's enough to give him the right to not be looked at and thought a rapist. He was proved innocent, and got a reward for being innocent. Innocence all around.

I too would comment on that, but in respect for OP and his beliefs I will not.

It's still child porn. How long is the sentence for that alone, because in Britain I'm pretty sure you go away for a long time for that. She should be charged with that too.

I don't think that'd ever happen, women would realise that they are finally at a disadvantage there. Welcome to men's only natural privilege, on average better fisticuffs...

However, it's not equal until it's equally recognised. The reason some guys here are woman bashing here is because they feel a bit pissed that as usual the woman got away with it, and if the case had been reversed this guy would have been getting close to life. He would deserve it. But so does she. That's what they're trying to get at.
/r/MensRights22/12/13 10:29 AM

The key here, feminists, is Men's Rights Issues and black men. MEN. MEN EVERYWHERE. It's almost as if they're saying black men aren't men. Now who's discriminating?

Maybe women just don't appreciate being left out there, despite it's their own fault. Maybe they need to look at women who are there and ask them if they wanted the promotion etc. EDIT: This comment was originally completely different but I realised you weren't coming from the direction I thought. Imadumbass.

Try periodically asking him what he thinks of boys compared to girls. Or just ask about anything the girls tell him about boys/teacher tells him about boys and teach him to sort out the bullshit from it. Can't say its from experience, its just a thought.

Primary school bias is probably one of the reasons I'm on this subreddit. It's made me detest the "privilege" (irony here) that girls get shown all throughout school years and to be quite honest with you it's not set me on the best foot for liking women. I understand I'm only in late secondary school and that I'm just an overprivileged, spoilt white boy with no experience of the world outside of education but to be honest again, I've stopped giving a shit. In primary school I attended a somewhat…

Ok, for the fact that /r/MensRights is spammed with examples of cases the claimant has admitted are false and the man has already received imprisonment for, can you still say the law has excellent mechanisms for determining those? From that, how could you possibly kill someone for something where cases such as those exist.

Am I correct in assuming some states still have the death penalty for rape? (Scottish here) If so, that might be a bit OTT...although a good 20 years wouldn't do them any harm. I'm not for the death penalty for rape in the first place though, for two major reasons. 1) Rape is incredibly hard to convincingly convict. It's too easy to get something wrong and execute the man for something he didn't do. 2) IMO Rape is bad. Very bad. It is second only to murder, but that's the point. It is second to …

Mensrights isn't for hate. Especially not of physical traits. You should be angry at the ringleader simply because she is attempting to destroy the careers of those on the blacklist.

Ditto here. It's awesome they've got this for guys that want it but I think when I get to the uni age I'll stick to at least trying to sensibly choose my women (to avoid sperm snatchers) and remember to use condoms or check she's on the pill. Rather not have someone jabbing a needle into my balls. Ambient and random uncomfortableness is enough thank you.

It was meant to be humorous so I'm glad you did. My sense of humour is like that. Yeah, if it's an old bloke/lady with a walking stick or something then I'm happy to get up. Pregnant women, yup. Person with crutches, yup. Some bitch demanding I give her a seat because chivalry and I'd just do it to avoid an argument. It's not worth it, but that doesn't mean I agree with it.
/r/MensRights15/12/13 01:20 PM

Exactly my point...I'm not a rude person (I hope) but I'm not gonna give up my seat on public transport for a woman choosing to wear high heels. It's not like she'd give up her seat for say, a guy wearing a groin guard going to play baseball or something is it? Pretty sure those are far more uncomfortable than wearing heels, and they come with even less choice involved. You either wear a groin guard for some sports or face the wrath of incoming high speed objects.

My favourite from the comments section. "I do let gender determine if I help someone. If I'm on the Tube and someone is wearing high heels and standing up and I'm sitting down, then I'll ask he if she wants to sit. Were positions reversed, I'm damned if I'd wear those shoes and women who feel forced into it be social convention need to be cut some slack." "What if the person on the Tube wearing high heels is Eddie Izzard...? What's your policy then... ?" "That's your response?" Perfectly summing…

I don't think aggravating /r/feminism is a good idea to be perfectly honest. We don't try and start wars, we just stick up for issues we don't create.
/r/MensRights14/12/13 10:55 AM

Manipulative. If women have an issue they need to voice it to their partner, non violently and explain that they are an unfaithful whore, not just manipulate some poor bloke to execute her man for her.

To be fair I would appreciate being able to share my bad times. As an extremely pessimistic person I get told to fuck off whenever I have a problem by literally everyone, sometimes it'd be nice to be able to bitch off and vent like a woman can to her friends.

That still isn't related to men being specifically routed out for Asthma. This is a different argument. I am perfectly aware of male discrimination in schools. It's not as bad at my secondary school but primary was awash with bias.

I don't really understand how this effects men's rights at all, to be perfectly honest. Even though it was a boy who died because of it this could just as easily have been brought up by a girl's mother. I'd just like to point out that I do support MR too, this isn't me bringing feminism here or anything.

As abysmal as it is that men have to do this sort of shit before sex I think this is a pretty valid article. As someone pointed out in the article comments it can't be taken as total superproof that the woman is being a lying bitch and faked her rape case but lets face it; what else can a man do to protect himself? You gave it your best shot short of carrying around a contract printed with "I give consent to be shagged by x man".

To put this into perspective we have a quarter of an hour "recess" and a forty five minute lunch. I know our county is the only one that has timings that short and lunch is barely enough to get to the shops and back, let alone set up some sort of ball game or do some running around. The day itself is 8:40 - 3:20. I don't know how that compares to other countries or even counties in Scotlan'. The day feels far too compressed, I can't concentrate in the morning and I've almost lost the will to by …

Whilst a bit more extreme than I would have put it this is a little like my view of women in combat roles. Men died for thousands of years in wars, and women should be on the front lines with them - especially if a conscription exists. This isn't to say I overlook the disadvantages of women in combat roles. They should set a standard for both men and women, in fitness, in living standards and in other treatments. Then they should stick to it, and not listen to feminist nonsense about how putting…
