Dropping the handkerchief is a metaphor, it doesn't have to be a literal handkerchief and it's not corny. There's a good reason why women have been doing this technique for thousands of years, even during Rome and the middle ages. It's like using voodoo or easily the closest thing to using a love potion to catch a guy. It's has also been proven that people were more likely to become your friend in class if they asked to borrow your pen/pencil and returned it back to you later. Same principle.

If she never initiates a conversation, never asks to hang out and keeps conversations short and basic, THAT's when she's stringing you along and playing games. That isn't the case in this situation, it sounds like she is eager to meet up but at the last minute she cancels because she is overwhelmed with anxiety. Also, I never said that he owe her, I only broke down what she is thinking and what's happening. It's up to him on how he wants to approach it.

I went through this pretty regularily in my late teens and early 20s, in my experience women can get pretty nervous and have anxiety meeting you.
