I miss the community too. It was really unique. I tried following the Instagram, but the discussions are not really discussions. The mods just repost old posts from Reddit and then people in the comments agree with it and post emojis. :)

Honest question, how would reporting him to the police safe another woman from him?

I don't want to waste one inch of my time on him. The police probably won't believe me and even if he gets plead guilty the court will give him a small sentence because it happened so long ago.

Toxic people like that will find a way to fuck anything up for themselves and everyone they care/don't care about. With good people, you don't have to create all these rules, micromanage and communicate every little boundary.

From my experience, people with disabilities never ask strangers for help, unless it's a super unlucky situation or they have problems with their equipment. Treat people with disabilities as you would treat anyone else and you'll know when something is off.

My roomie had a similar experience when she was 18. She was touring with a famous musician (man) and sometimes the crowd would boo at her. Then he had to come out and shout at them until they stopped. So annoying that you need a man to make others respect you.

Depends on the kind of anime he watches and the manga he reads. Strong female lead? Nice. Has he watched every episode of One Piece? Nah, sis. The problem with anime is when a guy makes it his personality or follows er series that has 800+ filler episodes without questioning his life.

I think you can learn a lot from it with critical eyes. Same goes for Bojack Horseman and similar shows. Just because the bad guy is the main character doesn't mean you should identify with them.

My ex watched two and a half episode of Avatar the Last Airbender and dismissed it as a kids show. It is my all time favorite and I learned so much about life from it. The fact that he didn't want to give it a chance or even ask me about what I liked about it says a lot about our relationship.

I dated a guy that heard the same songs over and over. He had one playlist with songs he liked and that was it. I have a background in music and has a good ear for it, so I started to notice other songs that would fall into his taste and suggested them to him. Whenever I showed him something, it was something I knew he would like. Whenever he showed me something, it was something he liked and hoped I liked too. He made me watch Breaking Bad... I learned to like it, until he started to glamourize…

That is why it's important to dismantle these myths. We should be praising emotionally and socially intelligent individuals that clearly shows how emphatic they are. We should learn from them and protect them from being bullied for being 'simps', 'overreacting', 'too emotional' etc. The way they are seen as a 'threat' by narcissists and treated by society is destroying them before they grow up. I know so many good people with mental illness, stress, ptsd etc. because other people decided to put …

It's so annoying when they do this when women express what they need verbally. I'm grey ace and most of the time sex is not worth it. Most heterosexual males have never even understood the concept of rape, and my partner kinda need to understand that in order for me to feel safe and loved. The thought of having sex with someone I don't know that well is a big nope. Why would I share the most intimate part of myself with someone I don't know how will treat my insecurities and worries? Because of my sexuality, not having sex is fine. Too much work.

Uhm. This is how my ex felt about me. 1) He felt it was complicated, because I didn't just enjoy everything but sometimes complained about "subtle" things he did, such as not helping other people do the dishes when we had dinner etc. 2) He was worried about how I would react because he saw me as an angry witch that would burst into anger at the smallest things, but the truth is I was very clear about what I didn't tolerated. 3) He didn't feel peace because he didn't listened to me. I had a boyfriend that kept insisting I was myself 100% when we had sex, flirted etc. and never did any roleplay as he felt it was creepy that my personality changed in bed. Like. Dude. This is how I am! Society has forced me to act in a specific way and conform. I want to be able to try things out and feel safe with you without getting judged. I think couples that does this seem to be healthy if their intentions are transparent.

Some people try to devalue his behaviour by saying it's just a facade and he might be different I private. Uuhm, what? By speaking so respectfully about his wife, he makes an example for other men to follow, and people look up to Michelle. Many guys are cowards and they're afraid to get rejected. Older dudes must either feel less terrified by us or not care to get rejected because it has happened so many times for them; they got immune to shame. Why they choose women not their own age can also be because of beauty standards or because they think, a younger woman is easier to be around, because her boundaries are still untested and flexible. I think the list is endless, and a lot of reasons are not noble at all.

Marriage has a less important cultural and legal meaning where I'm from. But for me it's the other way around: I won't marry someone that I don't feel comfortable doing all the above with. I used to think I had to earn everyone's respect, but then I realized I always gave everyone respect without even thinking about it. Treat others like you want to be treated and cancel people that take you, your work and your time for granted. We deserve so much better.

So glad you found my post then! Yes. Women have been socialized to doubt their capabilities. But women are also experts at expressing how they feel and put complex emotions into words. The way women talk should be adopted by men, not the other way around. u/Ntop__ You wouldn't end a thesis with "Hopefully that makes sense, let me know!", so why use it in a discussion? No, but neither would you end a thesis with "This is how it is for everyone, period". In a thesis, for instance, you need to to nuance your arguments, otherwise …

Not to say you do anything wrong, but isn't it kinda sick that we adopt this simplified way of expressing ourselves? Sometimes it's neat to be able to nuance the way you share your opinions; otherwise you devalue strong opinions. Sexolect is a sociolect specific to gender. Women use a lot of discourse markers (such as: I think people of color feel, often, sometimes) to nuance language whereas men talk in statements and with fake confidence. We can distinguish between “feminolect” or female speech and “masculinolect” or male speech.
