Yes! I can’t tell you what iambic pentameter is 🤷‍♀️ but when I write poems, the syllables in the lines match (at least mostly) and there’s a clear rhyming pattern. I can’t read “modern poems.” They don’t even rhyme! 🤪

This is why “I know” is a perfectly acceptable answer to any compliment. I used it before (not in a snooty way, but like, I know, right?) And I was told “the correct response is thank you.”

I know they say that, but look at the Genealogies listed in the Bible. They’re all men. There are 4 women listed in the genealogy of Jesus out of 63 generations.

This! No one ever questions who the mother is. Why don’t we trace lineage and families through the mother’s name?

I can see both sides of this. My mom hated her last name and she was constantly made fun of for it growing up. Now that I think about it, she was sexually abused by her uncle on her father’s side (so same last name). She couldn’t wait to change it! I had a great childhood, love my family, LOVE my last name, and have no intention of changing it if/when I get married.

I had to read a Christian dating book in High School and it literally said “you should go to a Christian college IF FOR NO OTHER REASON than to find your future spouse.”

Same sis! I have had to learn that there is nothing wrong with living with your parents as long as you have a good relationship with them. I’m still going to move out when I can, but I haven’t found a good roommate or a place yet, and then quarantine happened so I’m kind of glad I’m at home.

Wicked is my favorite! I rewatch it on YouTube often! *not to mention, everyone made up lies to make her the villain but she let them because she knew they weren’t worth it.

Jezebel is my new favorite Bible character. She literally just stood up for herself, her beliefs, and how she was raised. She was a queen and not about to let some man come in mess with her husband and her people.

This makes me so sick — like literally sick to my stomach. A whole bunch of men telling women how act submissive to them. When I looked it up, one of the speakers is a full time BDSM dom 🤢 and another’s tag line is “men prefer debt-free virgins without tattoos” - what? Seems like I’m safe from that guy 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like y’all found the inspiration for the song Ugly Heart by G.R.L. “Ok you’re pretty. Your face is a work of art. Your smile could light up New York City after dark. Ok you’re cover-boy pretty, stamped with a beauty mark. But it’s such a pity a boy so pretty, with an ugly heart.”

I grew up Christian and I’m still involved in my church. I Kissed Dating Goodbye was required reading in my homeschooling. I’m 23 and a virgin also, only dated one guy for two months so I’m not one to give advice. But I think you’re doing it right! You seem confident, you know your worth and value. Don’t settle, and don’t think you have a timeline to meet. If it was me, I wouldn’t bring up being a virgin. There’s nothing wrong it, but it’s engrained in the culture that’s it bad. Men would think …

I hear this so much that I am genuinely surprised when the men at my church show HVM traits. I guess when the bar is the floor it’s easy to be impressed. The greatest struggle with religious men I’ve encountered is they think they’re higher than women. They try to sell you the “spiritually equal but different roles” and yet men’s roles are always over women’s. GoD cReaTed AdaM FirSt! And women are not allowed to teach in the church except for other women and children. And they think they deserve…

I was told this is my job to remind my boss of things like this. Not dates, usually but times. He’s worked here for 17 years and I have to remind him when it’s time for meetings. Even if I remind him 5 minutes before, I have to get him when it’s time or he’ll be 10 minutes late.

Maybe try asking yourself where the men’s praise and validation is coming from? Is it just because it’s from a male or is it from a place of experience in a certain field? I’ve run the soundboard at my church for about 5 years, and I’m one of 4 people (out of 1,000 in the church, and the only woman) who knows almost everything about this expensive, complicated system. Once we had a guest singer who had all his tracks, keyboard, and microphone plugged into one input. The only control I had was to…

I’ll be the first to admit, I often select movies and TV shows based on cast rather than plot. Certain shows I just cannot get into because all the men are average or below but every woman is stunning. Where’s my eye candy? Lol Ocean’s Eleven and SWAT... I don’t watch for the plot...

I wore a Promise ring for years after my parents got me one when I was 16. I got so many comments/compliments on it from people in church when I explained it wasn’t from a boy, it was a promise between me, my parents and God that I wouldn’t have sex until marriage. I stopped wearing it about 2 years ago when I decided God and my parents don’t get to tell me I can’t have sex before marriage—IF I get married at all. I’m an adult. It is my choice and mine alone. Taking that ring off was so freeing.

That’s ok, I don’t think I was really looking for advice. Just to complain a little and make sure I’m not the only one! Lol 🙃 So far no one’s been pressuring me or anything and FDS has made me strong and confident in myself to stand up for myself if something does happen.

Yeah... most of what we’re taught from the Bible about “a woman’s role” goes in one ear and out the other and I try not to start arguments. Some things are still so archaic!

Is it because she thinks he’s insufferable though? I mean I can see that, I’ve just always thought she sees him as a perfect, beautiful angel who can do no wrong. Who wouldn’t want to be his wife? 🤢

This sounds so much like my ex. I was 21, he was 32 and overweight, and I never found him attractive but I dated him simply because he was the first guy that ever asked me. Nothing sexual happened, and after about a month I came to the conclusion that if he was the best I was ever going to get, I would rather be alone forever. So I ended it. I was perfect for him and he was in love with me. Told me he loved me at least once a day (the first time less than a week after our first conversation!)

My sister‘s ex sent her a song he wrote after their breakup (she dumped him cuz he was toxic). The whole song was about how he hated her and she ruined his life and he had the nerve to ask her if she liked!

I feel you girl! I’m 23, dated one guy for 2 months about 2 years ago and ended it because he always made excuses, was super clingy, took me for granted, and I was not attracted to him at all. I only dated him because he was the first guy that asked. I haven’t started online dating for the same reasons as you! Don’t actually want to meet someone online, and have no idea what to say! My sister dated a guy exactly like this in High School. I later learned he pressured her into dating him. The last straw was when she was in the hospital, almost dying, and he said stuff like “You don’t know how fucking hard it is not to cut myself right now!” and “I’ll kill myself if anything happens to you,” and I believe there was even a “How could you do this to me?” Seriously? She was in the hospital with a thyroid storm—totally not his fault, and VERY dangerous—and she had to comfort him! …
