The word is also used descriptively to denote a type of erotic fantasy common to many (but not all) MtF spectrum individuals in which they become aroused by the idea of being or becoming women. This was the dominant meaning before Blanchard came along. The idea that autogynephilia is a large component of trans women’s sexuality is not. Julia Serano and others in her field are well aware of this. She concedes this point constantly, including in the article you linked.
