A soldier knows the potential risk of being shot but to blame them for getting shot seems a stretch to me. We know that there is a slight risk of a plane crashing when we fly, but if the crash was attributed to, say, extreme negligence on the part of the pilot I fail to see how that makes the passengers personally responsible.
