Yes, it's manipulative. It will attract manipulative women, primarily. It is possible to see the world this way, and to live it this way, but it's not the majority of actual mature society. Maybe RP men and RP women are suited to each other in this regard. For people who desire a stable, loving relationship, money is not utterly irrelevant but it's a secondary factor, after compatibility, which is to say actually liking each other and each other's company. These are all generalisations that cann…

This is a thoughtful comment, in my view. I'd add that dominance hierarchies are a very impoverished lens through which to view human interactions, which lies at the heart of why the RP mindset is ultimately barren and should be rejected. As your example implies to my mind, concepts of dominance are ultimately extremely nebulous, situational, and globally ill-defined. Unless one believes in violence as the supreme authority, which is the essence of fascism and adjacent to redpill ideology.

I agree with you, the root commenter appears to be arguing for the RP perspective. Think they're on the wrong sub.

Every human life is equally valuable and equally worthy of respect. That doesn't mean everyone is identical. I think that's what the OP meant and they are right about that if so. Life is going to be harder or easier for different people at different times, obviously. Doesn't mean we should abandon the concept of a fairer society as an ideal towards which to strive, nor that any life is worthy of contempt or unworthy of love. Regardless, that's a political debate that is orthogonal to the origina…

Ok, I'll bite: the position you are advocating, diabolically or otherwise, is fairly mindless and baseless, on several levels. First: very few people set out with the goal of becoming a single parent. Most of those who do do that are older men or women with the resources to make it work and do not fit into this discussion (unless you're talking about late-thirtysomething professionals who make serious life decisions like this with their eyes open and are rarely the targets of impotent incel-adja…

We don't disagree. We are just using the word science differently (I like your use of quotations in your response - to me this correctly identifies the masquerade of science for the purposes of furthering a subjective agenda, or in simple error, as the problem). I study dynamical systems professionally. There is an instructive idea in that field that has bearing here: the study of non-linear dynamics is analagous to the study of non-elephant zoology. That is to say, the majority of (complex, eme…

The scientific method is nothing more than controlled observation at scale. It’s exactly what our brains do on a regular basis without conscious intervention. I don't think our brains are very good at the critical "controlled" part of that. A lot of the issue lies with the misuse and misinterpretation of science, often but not always by nonscientists. If you replace "science" with "pop science" or something similar to denote how science is used like a blunt stick in society and politics today, I…

Well, you aren't going to get any legitimate arguments while you're being a cunt, are you?

Look at the name of the subreddit and the rules, then ask yourself why that's a dumb take. I'm all for debate and reasoned discussion but if you just came to sound off, the mods should ban you and delete your post.

What an apposite recommendation. I eagerly await the forthcoming magnum opus 200 page literature review from OP, and have set aside a whole work day for its immediate perusal.

I was using a credential to argue rhetorically against (what I viewed as) your fallacious appeal to "science". I am not a professional in metabolic disease, but I am well acquainted with the tools of rational thought. I think those points stand on their own merits. I will add that I don't disagree with the point you just made - that most people can diet down and improve their health with consistency and discipline, and that it is good advice to do so if possible. As I said, I've done so myself a…

Mate, I've lost weight from 146kg to ~85kg myself via diet and hard exercise. I've since acquired various health conditions as I've got older, and now I just cannot get below 101kg without incurring severe health consequences from the stress hormones (high blood pressure, elevated HR, etc.). I didn't assume that the OP had Cushing's, it was an example to make a broader point. Also, I am a PhD scientist. This is the ex-RP sub and you are acting like Roosh V. Give your head a shake and kindly pipe…

But to answer what I think is the main point of the question, then yes. BUT, I wouldn't put equal weight on financial success and social skills. Being able to have a real conversation that relates your ability to connect as a person is much more valuable than a fat wallet. Especially if you are looking for long term commitment vs a hook-up. It has been my experience that if a person (Male or Female, Trans or CIS) is only interested in you because you make bank, they bore of you rather quickly an…

Control. I believe the idea is something akin to the notion that an inexperienced partner is easier to control and more grateful. Disgusting.

The aspect you are disregarding is the holistic interaction of a functioning, loving couple. That is not possible if manipulation is the mindset of one or both partners. Now, if you don't want or can't have that because you don't feel it - empathy - then your conclusion makes some more sense. However, most people are not deeply sociopathic, so that perspective would still not constitute, on the whole, good advice for most people. It is worth noting that there IS a strong sociopathic contingent i…

I think this is a very insightful and original perspective on a subject that isn't talked about enough. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the nucleus of your point, that there may be a more apposite term to use here. I'd just note that, in its usage in politics, the term "radical" is in my opinion most closely opposed by "conservative". The connotation of irrationality is certainly a thing and perjorative, though. My point is that it kind of does refer to one extreme on the continuum from prioritising transformative change to prioritising stability. I'd consider my own views fairly radical in a lot of ways. That refle…

It's a blanket and absolute, binary, statement, about a very general and interpersonally mutable characteristic, namely self-esteem. What does your reason and experience tell you, as to its literal truth? The answer is very plain indeed, from a rational perspective. The statement, on the face of it, is close to a category error. Do some people, of all strands, use attention as an external locus of self-actualisation, to varying degrees depending on time, place, but mainly just who that person is…
