Here is the thing. First.. yes.. of course you are. Don't let a piece of shit dickweed who cheated on you make you feel bad, undateable, etc. BUT.. and I mean this with the utmost respect.. don't let yourself go. By that I mean.. you be you.. but dont turn to food for comfort, let your health go and be like "Im a mom of 3 kids.. nobody will love me or find me attractive" and just give up. You raise that head of yours, look yourself in the mirror and say "I got this shit" and you exercise, eat ri…

Colorado like California is pretty rough with divorce for assets, etc. One thing you CAN look in to is can you either a) establish a separation date (while still married) and will that allow you to buy/etc without her getting some of it (unlikely).. or you can file now, just dont serve her. I think there is a 2 to 6 month window or so you can file and not serve. Not sure though. But that could establish a date of separation maybe? Still unclear about this as I am waiting to hear back from my law…

I am just going to put this out there.. happy to hear thoughts from men (or women if they are lurking around). I would wager a small fortune that MOST of the long time happy marriages you see, that go the distance.. MOST of them have one person dominant the other submissive (and I dont just mean sexually.. or that at all). The "head of household" phrase rings hard. That does NOT MEAN they are not partners, communicate, one does whatever the more dominant wants all the time (though there is some …

HAHAHA.. Holy shit.. that made me spit my drink out.. I'm not a democrat.. I'm a centrist. I look at both sides and see the stupidity of both sides and the good when it's there. Sadly there is NO FUCKING GOOD under Dump. You think there is.. point it out plese. "He got rid of illegals." ROFL.. sure.. some.. most though are tax paying workers who should easily have been allowed a path to being legal while keeping their jobs that help us in construction, food, services and more. But you don't see …

We dont know. The details were left out. Did he smack/beat the living shit out of his kid and people saw? Did he just use harsh language and educators heard/saw it and felt CPS would take care of it? No clue. WAY WAY too much left out.

How long can you afford to stay in a hotel? Divorce seems likely.. I'd file soon and stop paying her anything you dont have to.

I am in a similar situation. Is it possible to work out a deal where she can live in the home for a few years in hopes the value of it goes up.. and then sell it (when she's ready) and I get my half then? I suspect as interest rates go down next year (hopefully) the value will go up. So I'd be ok with waiting a year or two (while she pays the mortgage and lives there and I move out) for the value to go up. That would benefit me as well right? Is that something that can be worked in to a divorce …

My STBXW thinks I am doing the same thing. Laid off 1.5 years ago, in tech. Have interviewed only a handful of jobs. In my case, and anyone in tech should know this.. I can't just get a job doing some language/etc I never knew.. the days of teaching you on the job even if you are experienced are LONG gone. You need to be an expert in like 20 areas to get past the AI filters and even then, you're up against 100+ people for every role. Age fucks me over too.. being closer to retirement I dont care…

I think I will end up with the opposite problem. I have a hyper sensitive dick. In my 50s.. I cant last 20 seconds as if I am a teen still. Fucking irritating.. I enjoy the process but I literally have to stop for a bit, etc. Which is fine if we're doing all sorts of shit.. but sometimes you just want to smash and it feels good so having to stop, pull out, think of grandma, etc.. gets old fast. I've done all the shit to try to make it last longer, etc.. only thing that works is round 2. But at m…

Honestly my only issue with old and alone (mostly alone) is ailments. I am fortunate so far in my 50s to mostly have minor issues.. like pissing 2x a night waking me up and not getting solid sleep or having IBS like symptoms if I dont eat the right stuff (e.g. barely eat anything that is enjoyable.. ). Some minimal aches/pains with low back, carpel tunnel like issues sometimes. Really my primary concern, that and having enough money to rent my own place. I really dont want room mates. I'd prefer…

While Govt is involved and religion is involved.. there is no point. Period. BOTH are fucked up beyond anything and one person almost always gets raked over the coals and suffers the rest of their life while the other usually makes out and has a great life. Usually the man getting fucked too.

So if she claims a year ago.. but I claim a few weeks ago.. who wins? I just wanted to make sure me sleeping in separate room because she has issues with me reading at night, snores, and gets up super early and wakes me up.. if that is a reason to sleep in another room but NOT be considered a separation date. I actually dont know if its a good thing or bad thing if we were "separated" a while ago.. but that I cashed out a bit of stock, out of a job and using that community property money to pay …

I never agreed to a verbal though. How would that even work? If she says "we verbally agreed" and I said "nope" or didnt answer.. that makes no sense.

Agreed. However.. I just don't trust that shit wont change for people. We live in a much MUCH different time than the last several hundred years (or longer) where marriage was largely life long and cheating was possibly a thing but not nearly as easy to catch someone in as today with cameras, social media, etc. With that in mind.. if you're going to cheat.. then shit in the marriage is likely bad or you're just too weak to avoid a piece of ass (or dick as it may be).. in which case you shouldn't…

Fantastic.. though I'd tell you never to get married again.. at least not while all the laws around divorce exist. Not worth that if shit goes south at some point. To each their own though.

I dont agree with that. I think I have a number of factors that will help/go my way.. but wont know for sure until we file and go through it.

Thank you for your service! So does that leave you enough left + social security (while it lasts.. who knows how much is going to disappear with the new budget plan about to get passed).. to live on? Or do you struggle to make ends meet? At this point in my life.. I just want to make enough to live on comfortably, and put a little in savings for the future. I have been hoping that by the time I retire when I hit 67 or so.. I'd have about 2500 to 3000 a month in social security based on how much …

Yah.. my concern is my field (Tech) has drastically changed the last two years. Salaries are lower for the most part (though some positions still pay very high). Remote work is not an option for most.. and I have introvert/anxiety issues as well as IBS that make it VERY hard to be working in a position where a) I can't use bathroom when I need and b) have to be interacting with people/etc all day. In my tech role at home that was never a problem. But with very few remote options thanks to dipshi…

In my case.. my STBX is working part time.. and she did work most of the last 10 years since being diagnosed.. but part time.. no more than 24 hours a week most weeks. My argument is she could make more than me if she worked full time.. but she claims she cant work full time due to medical issues.. its too much on her. I have NO PROBLEM with her working part time.. just that when it comes to alimony.. I dont want it used against me because I have begged her to work full time. Esp with kids in co…

Right.. but I am not earning anything for a year.. she is now working part time. If I go back to work there is the notion that I can make what I was making before. Thing is.. in my field.. that is not only very unlikely.. the job market has shifted dramatically the past year or two. 100s of 1000s layoffs, lowering of salaries, and remote work all but gone. Ageism is an even bigger factor. Finding a job despite my experience will be difficult.. they dont want to hire someone over 50 any more. Not…

That doesn't sound awful in that in the end what you pay her equates to about "equal" when she has her pay + that 800 a month. What sucks though is you get taxed first.. then pay her. So she actually makes out more. How long were you married?

I'd love that. She however says she is going to come after me for everything she can to screw me over. Go figure. Fucking narcissist she is.

You make a little more and pay that much though? That is nuts! So in the end she actually has a bit more than you each month.. which doesnt seem to be fair/even split?

So I actually dont want any ties to her at all. We have a house, her retirement and what stock is left over from selling it to live on while I try to find a job (still cant a year later). We refinanced the house a few years ago.. down to 2.5% interest. Fantastic rate. Keeps our mortgage under 3K a month (MCoL area in 50/50 state). We did that by putting her name on the loan as my credit was awful at the time (still trying to fix it now). SO.. in our case.. it behooves her to buy the house out fr…

That is actually bad advice. If the STBX spent money over months to years.. and he suddenly spends a ton all at once to catch up.. it looks bad for him as he spent a lot right away. It is NOT fair.. but in most states (if in the US) they dont care about affairs. They only car about kids, duration of marriage, assets, income, etc. Plus.. if he doesnt have a lot to do that, and also needs to hire a lawyer.. he wont be able to afford one. Case in point, I spent about 15K the past few months on tool…

Yah.. there is a fee we can pay to have them assessed. Depending on how things go.. if she focuses on trying to fuck me.. I will do that for sure.

Responded elsewhere but that is one of the reasons I tell everyone NOT to get married. In divorce.. that ONE fucking judge who may have a grudge, doesnt like the way you look, etc.. can dictate the outcome and how fucked up your life will be is bullshit.

See.. that's some beyond fucked up bullshit in marriage and is a big part why I tell everyone it's not worth it. She promised me she would go back to work. That is binding. Right? No. But when I tell her to go back to work.. and she refuses.. its MY fault? WTF? How do you force someone to go back to work? Or work full time? THUS.. govt in our marriage is bullshit and until they are out.. nobody should get married. Period. It's just so stupid. Between that and that one judge can decide the fate o…

My STBXW has been working part time (24 hours a week) most of our marriage. She could work full time and make more than me (when I had a job.. been out of work for over a year now thanks to the tech market collapse). She is back working part time but refuses to work full time. I would hope the courts would say she could work full time and make X but she chooses not to but alimony (all our kids are 19 and older) would be based off of how much she could make full time. She did go through cancer 10…

I was told (being in a 50/5) that her not working IS MY FAULT?? I dont understand who the fuck in the legal system came up with that bullshit. I've been telling my wife to go back full time for over 10 years.. and she has not. HOW the fuck is that my fault. What.. my word isnt good enough for the courts to say I pleaded with her to work and she chose not to? Why the fuck is that my fault and thus I get fucked financially for that?

That would make WAY too much sense.. but since marriage is part religious and part govt.. its a double whammy. Religion frowns upon divorce.. and Govt backs up the idea that its religious and shouldn't happen. So they screw the money maker over which is far more often the man because he typically works while the woman stays home.. almost ALWAYS because they agree that it is better than the costs for child care and someone else raising their kids. YET.. the courts NEVER consider any of that.

Believe it or not.. this is why a LOT of people are not getting married any more. More and more men (and women who make money) are learning just how fucked the divorce situation can be and decide to not marry. I wouldn't ever marry again and I told my boys to NOT marry just stay bf/gf for life.. it's not worth the pain/hassle if they get divorced.

I thought if you file.. thats better than if she files? What am I missing? I am in a 50/50 state as well.

How? That sounds like you did some fucked up things if she won it all? Or you had bad lawyers that couldn't argue for you? I dont say that to be a dick.. I am in a similar situation only I have been out of work for over a year and she's now working for the past 6 months.. but I made 4x what she did prior.. so not sure how thats going to work and we're 30 year marriage.

Ima tell you this.. if I had the money to deal with alimony/child support AND afford to live on my own when my 4 kids were young.. I would have got out. The truth is.. my 4 kids are all fucked up now in many ways because I stayed and we fought all the time in front of them. They saw mom and dad in a toxic relationship, fighting, cussing at each other, we never did physical shit though she did sometimes throw shit at me but I am one of those guys that wasn't going to call the police on her. So.. one thing I would advise and I did this myself.. is pack some clothes, toiletry, cash, etc and put it in storage. IF you can, have a friend/family open the storage for you in their name. Just a little 5x5 or smaller is all you need. Start to put some things like tools, hobby stuff, weapons, etc.. whatever you want to make sure you have access to just in case she comes up with some bullshit thing and gets you thrown out. Very VERY unlikely she can get you arrested.. they would need to see ph…

As far as I have ever read.. inheritance is 100% yours. I dont know why/how any of it would be split to spouse. My STBXW is rich on paper (lots of land in another country). I get ZERO of that when we divorce. Likewise my parents are worth a couple mil.. if they die before we divorce... their inheritance is mine alone (well me and my sibling to split). She would get none of it.

Well.. so far just paid to get some clarity on stuff and forgot to ask this one as it's just something that came up. I will ask for sure, but figured someone here might know more about this since so many folks in this forum and lots of divorce with varying degrees of details.

No shit? I am asking here because a LOT of people in this forum might have some knowledge/experience of this. Clearly I'd be talking to my lawyer about this.
