My 50 year old wife has been on HRT for about 6 months and it certainly seems to alleviate many of the issues of menopause. Sex is now as good as it's ever been (we've been together 20 years) but I'm sure that this is also down to the improvements I've made over the past 18 months (physique, leadership, attitude etc). She respects, admires, desires and (therefore) 'loves' me. It will be interesting to see what happens when she comes off the HRT (I believe this is generally after 2 to 5 years?). …

It's depressing to recognise so much of this as my life's experience pre TRP. At 52 I'm under no illusions that my best SMV years are behind me but having found TRP around two years ago my marriage is now significantly improved. I've built genuine desire and attraction and my wife now respects and admires me and enthusiastically fucks me. I'd like to think that I am no longer an 'unhappy loser'. Better late then never I suppose. If this changes then I have no fear of going it alone whether it be…

Throughout my marriage, I've always been good at delivering on the Husband and Father roles but have sadly neglected the Boyfriend role for long periods. I can see now that this was a major reason for the drop off in sex and general fun during those periods. This post is a great reminder to me to focus on keeping the fun, flirting and attraction levels high. My wife said to me the other day that she "feels like we are young again". I took this as a good indication that I'm starting to get things…

I was diagnosed with Crohn's 30 years ago and, whilst every case is different, for me it has been entirely manageable once I got on top of it a couple of years after diagnosis. I am now in my 50's with an athletic body and a BMI exactly where it should be. Once you have a proper diagnosis then I suggest you do as much research as you can about your condition and then take ownership for getting yourself back into as good a state of health as possible. What has helped for me includes digestive enz…

Had very good quality sex with my wife on Friday night (got married long before I found TRP). I then went for an off road bike ride with my young son on Saturday morning, the bike ride was far more satisfying.

I lurk on the sub and it can be useful to see the opinions of others in the same boat as me (ie: trying to make the best of an imperfect situation). However, I find Rollo's writings (together with the comments) much more thought provoking. It sometimes feels like he is writing my life story. I've been married nearly 17 years (together 20) but unfortunately only found TRP around 18 months ago, although I was starting to realise the truth independently gradually over the previous 5 years or so. On…

Actually let me expand on that. It's a helluva lot more than I'm comfortable with. Why didn't I think about it at the time? ...... Well I guess I was just a thirsty Beta grateful to be finally getting some decent sex. Christ I can't believe what a twat I was back then.

She lied about her age and I'm pretty sure she lied about being previously engaged. Whether or not you think she lied about slutty behaviour I think depends on your perspective. From her perspective she didn't as compared to her old drinking buddy she's a saint but from my perspective up to 20 guys is a lot more than I'm comfortable with.

The general consensus here seems to be why bail on what is essentially a good marriage. I'm going to follow that advice but if at any point in the future, the marriage is no longer good (eg: as a result of all the shit that menopause sometimes brings) then I am no longer fearful of going it alone. I was Beta Bux'd, I accept that and there's nothing I can do about that now but get over it. There is no doubt that my wife was attracted to me when we first got together (and still is) but we all know…

You're very fortunate to have discovered TRP at such a young age. Good luck to you and I hope you use that knowledge wisely. I would not necessarily say never ever get married but be very, very, very, cautious.

I also have a son and I am already dropping RP truths as and when I feel he is ready. As laughable as it now seems, I spent most of my adult life not even realising that I was playing a fucking game let alone what the rules are. After discovering TRP (and reading Rollo extensively) I feel like I've finally been given the rule book.

I think you're right that part of the problem is insecurity. Despite all the progress I've made I feel jealous and threatened by guys from 20+ years ago which sounds fucking stupid when I write it down. I guess that I feel that I was duped into being Beta Bux all those years ago and missed out on potentially my best SMV years. You're the second person to suggest a few hookers to get it out of my system. I also wonder who she is thinking about when she closes her eyes during sex, hence my comment…

Thank you for providing some interesting thoughts. I will certainly consider what you have said.

Thanks for drumming some sense into me. However, if I did end up calling it quits I very much doubt I would be ever looking for another life partner. It's been hard unplugging at a relatively late age, I feel like I've been punched in the face.

The truth has brought me certainty but you're right, it's come at a cost. I'm coming to terms with it but I'll consider your suggestion of a shrink to hopefully speed up the process.

"You got beta buxxed and now that you realize this, there is some regret." I think that sums it up

Thanks for your considered response, much appreciated. I think one of the issues is that for her all of this is ancient history (literarily a generation ago). Hopefully she thinks little of these past events any more, but for me it feels recent and raw. However, it's gotten easier even over the last couple of months so hopefully that will continue over the passage of time.

Thanks for your feedback. I partially get where you're coming from with the 'idiot' comment but surely knowledge and truth, albeit painful, is better than blissful ignorance?
