I was completely blindsided around 4 months ago. Still going through the divorce. I know it’s the anger talking, but if I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn’t choose her. She was an in-debt single mom with 3 kids. I became responsible for financing her and her kids’ lives. I was the breadwinner and the saver. She was the spender. I could have written this comment. I raised my step-daughter as if she were my own blood (since she was three). Her deadbeat bio dad did nothing. I did everything. Now she has a one year old daughter of her own, and I haven’t seen my step-daughter or step-granddaughter in months. She’s siding with her mom, even though I didn’t want the separation and wanted to do marriage counseling (she didn’t). It tears me up when I think about it.
