Yes, unfortunately most comments appear to be produced by robots that automatically promote one opinion/theme/position regardless of what the original post is. The post may not be the best in terms of being clear, concise or persuasive, but the responses are mostly irrelevant, extremely simplistic or don't address the central issues in the post.

I don't know that the 'happy relationship' qualifier would matter all that much. I've had numerous good LTRs and have been happily married a long time. I think the point of the string above is that plenty of people have realized that some of the 'red pill' interpretations are valid as a result of experience (personal and observed). Even the men and women that I know who are in relatively good situations regarding relationships are significantly more cynical and realistic than they were when they…

Outstanding response, unlike virtually everything I read on here. My experience, and that of many people I know, is somewhat different but similar in that we were brought up in 'blue pill' environments and then realized through experience (either our own or what we saw) that much of what we had been taught or led to believe was incorrect. Most people who would meet me in real life would likely assume that I'm entirely 'blue pill' in nature, but in reality I believe in SOME of the concepts/ideas …

Your general theme is entirely correct. As you can see from many of the responses, some people are incapable of dealing with complexity and nuance. In an environment like OLD or bars, the best looking 10-20% men are dramatically more successful than other men, and that creates a number of often undesirable byproducts (unless you're a 10%er guy). In a social network environment, like a school or workplace, the situation is very different, and a more average looking (with average wealth, charisma,…

Agree in general - not just her but many famous/rich/beautiful/etc. women as revealed in innumerable biographies and documentaries. Also what I've seen over decades of observing/knowing many people. Not that anyone would care what I think, but outside of very religious communities, I'd guess maybe a quarter of men and a third of women are hardwired for LTRs/marriage/etc. and are concerned with finding someone with a comparable number of past sexual partners and types of experiences. For the rest…
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/25 07:53 AM

Lots of men have the don't ask don't tell policy, because they don't care, because they're naive, or because they create a fictional Disney type story in their mind about the woman they're infatuated with. There seem to be a growing number of guys who have a 'hotpast' fetish that want a woman with an interesting past. And of course a lot of men know but don't really care all that much. Lots of men (and women) still care and that creates a lot of friction in the dating/LTR/marriage markets.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/25 07:37 AM

You bring up a critical point. In the past, most promiscuous men were also successful, charismatic, wealthy, good-looking men who got respect from many or most men and women, whereas many - but not all - promiscuous women faced various types of social disapproval. Now it looks to me like promiscuous women are equally able to get away with it in North America and Europe, except perhaps in the most religious groups.

I agree with the comments on feedback loops and circular arguments. I'd put it another way. It's people with a given ideology simply repeating the same thing over and over, usually attacking those with a different ideology as a form of entertainment or as a way to vent. There is a minority that want to hear new insights, different opinions, additional information, intriguing arguments, etc. but we're a minority. I think it's unfortunate because there are a lot of important and fascinating issues…

Which studies show estimates of % of female bisexuals versus male bisexuals? In the past I've seen references to studies that purportedly show men being largely either hetero or homo whereas many women are more fluid/flexible.

There appear to be at least two major themes here, and although interesting, I'm not sure how they fit in with any debates/discussions involving blue pill or red pill or any pill philosophies/positions. First, you've got the macro theme of some professions like medicine being structured in such a way that those who work in the field have to put in ridiculous amounts of hours - to the point where its sometimes impossible for those people to have regular, balanced lives. Some, like me, would argue…

Pointed out in a similar thread in PurplePillDebate long ago that the dynamics of people meeting in bars/clubs/etc. or meeting online are completely different from meeting in environments like school, work, hobbies, through friends & family, and was attacked without mercy. Not sure about men settling for less ideal traits more easily than women.

I disagree, but maybe you'd win with some kind of 50 or 55% outcome. Personally, I'd much rather jerk off on my own rather than be sucked off by someone that isn't into at all. Maybe I could get off on it if I had a deal with my wife (or girlfriends previously) that I'd go down on her whenever she wanted if she'd give me oral when I was horny, and it seemed like a fairly equal tradeoff. Maybe. I think that your perception might exist because there are a large number of attractive, aggressive guy…

People in the BDSM subs talk about it. It appears as though some people (usually women posting but sometimes men) really get off on it sexually while others do it more for emotional reasons. My suspicion is that there is a huge spectrum of what it means, ranging from hypersexual couples both enjoying it to some situations where a person is being obviously abused. However, I have no first hand knowledge of this; my interactions have always been entirely voluntary on both sides, and being boring, …

Lots of men lose interest in sex over time, and of course there are many situations where the woman has a much stronger sex drive, particularly among those over 30. This is not unusual. There are a million and one reasons for it, from falling hormone levels to focus on work to lack of attraction/interest. We're talking about LTRs here, not pickups or early relationship situations.

I don't think that it isn't as rare as you imply. Almost every sexual encounter that I've had with women over the past four decades has included oral sex (both ways) and when I've discussed it with friends (usually when everyone is very drunk), some will even admit to giving women oral being their top preference/kink. Obviously some men are not into it and I suspect that a large proportion of very good looking, aggressive (and maybe arrogant) men doing hookups won't be into it. Also, men with ve…

In some cases I'm considered red pilled because I call it as I see it, but in situations like yours, I have tremendous sympathy (or is it empathy) for you. It's extremely difficult for women in our society when it comes to appearance at work. It also varies dramatically by industry/sector, because what works for people in large accounting consultancies might be very different from makeup manufacturers or hospitals. It's not only men that have weird judgments about women's appearances, either - s…

True to some extent. However, some women have commented to me that they'd like porn more except that the men tend to be not terribly good looking. Some of that might be preference for different body types and so on, but part of it is that porn tends to be made for men and the requirements are different for porn actors and porn actresses; the men have to be able to get it up and keep it up in front of a crew of cameramen and other people on the set.

This is an issue that is always out there, unfortunately. Some fraction of men (1-5%?) will use violence to force women to do what they want and some larger fraction of men (10-20%) will be relentless, crude, and obnoxious, and aside from the obvious impacts on victims, it wrecks dating mechanisms and makes life hard for almost all women and most men. One example that I've seen is women complaining that they can't mention kinks or specific sexual desires in dating aps even when they say that the…

Interesting point. However, from everything that I've seen and read, it's clear that attractive, fit, tall men can rise to any level (and may be helped by it), whereas women have to be very careful about not appearing too sexy, slutty, attractive, or whatever. It's a tight rope act for women, though, because if they're perceived as being too ugly or dumpy or whatever, they may not be promoted or hired.

Interesting post OP, especially because it resulted in so many responses that revealed an immediate emotional reaction from commenters that revealed the tremendous diversity of standards/conduct out there. If it had been a different sub, there would be an even greater diversity of opinions. Thanks for the response. Refreshing to see someone commenting that is doing so based on own experience and/or actually observing others and/or reading widely instead of following some ideology. While I might generally agree with many opinions/themes commonly associated with blue pill land, one that I find absurd is that there isn't a 80/20 (or 70/30 or 10/90) rule and that a relatively small minority of men isn't having most of the promiscuous sex with most of the women. Had to laugh when you me…

I enjoyed the main body of your post and many of your comments, but wish that you had used a different title. I think that the topic of demisexuality is interesting and have always wondered (and guestimated) what the actual proportions of men and women who are demisexual are (understanding its a spectrum and depends on definition). Anyway, only very misinformed people would think that most women are demisexual - but it's a fascinating question as to what proportion would be demisexual leaning.

Interesting perspectives. Couple of questions. First, wouldn't your opinions fall more into 'red pill' territory (saw that your label was purple). Just curious. Second, while not challenging your observations (or OP's themes), what do you think about the suggestion that a larger proportion (say 35% versus 25%) of women are more demi-sexual than men? One of the reasons that I think that this kind of debate rages on endlessly is that while many people misrepresent how many women actually operate (…

I like your comparison about women deriving similar experiences from casual sex with more attractive men (who are only in it for a short-term adventure) to men who go to prostitutes. It's largely a physical interaction with (potentially) some fantasizing by one of the parties.

Interesting perspective. Perhaps what differentiates you is that you are perceptive enough to understand that the good-looking bullshit artist only wants to use you as a temporary fun toy, and that's a turn-off. Thank you for acknowledging something that I see repeatedly in comments and responses, which is that that those posting and commenting are assuming that their preference/personal experience/history are similar or identical to that of most people. Interesting thesis, and a good starting point for a lot of different debates. Since this string is probably dead now, I'll throw out only a few things in the unlikely event that anyone is reading anymore. I like how you differentiate between stranger dating and developing relationships through social networks (my words). The very different dynamics are often underestimated, in part because for some people there is overlap and confusion. A key issue is how limited one's social network is for meet…

At first I thought that OP was writing a comedic post. Then I thought that he was writing while under the influence of a significant amount of alcohol. After completing it, I came to the conclusion that he was writing under the influence of a significant amount of a hallucinogenic drug like magic mushrooms or LSD. However, this is only speculation. Not that you'd ever consider something like this or care what I or anyone says, but this is often a situation of 'all is revealed' after the fact. Both men and women often conceal all sorts of interesting shit and its only later that you find out. In one instance, I was actually starting to have sex with a woman and she nonchalantly mentioned that if her boyfriend showed up, 'it was going to be a bad scene'. Thankfully she was good enough to tell me so I evacuate quickly. Also had a few LTRs whe…

All true but you're leaving out one of the most critical issues for women in LTRs. Most people begin to lose interest in their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends/etc. after the bunny phase begins to wear out in 6 to 24 months, and for many women the impact of this is far strong than for the men. From what I've experienced, seen and read about, some women can power through this transition rather easily through some mix of growing affection, increased kinkiness and exploration, and sheer physical/emot…

One of the few interesting comments in this thread. A large minority (30%? 40%) of women have very strong sex drives - stronger than the average men for sure. I had a few LTRs with women like that. However, something that many if not most people get confused about is that women with strong sex drives are not necessarily promiscuous, and that promiscuous women don't necessarily have strong sex drives. Also, promiscuous women are not necessarily kinky, imaginative, sexually adventurous (as in diff…

Almost certainly true that at an early age - say 18 or 20 - men on average will have higher sex drive than women and on average will be more aggressive/determined to get sex (or jerk off) than women. By the 30s this will have changed dramatically, with men's sex drives falling off and women's increasing. Men are more steady state and women have more powerful cycles that vary by day, month, year, etc. depending on age, hormones, social setting, behavior of friends/peers, and stage of life.

Love this statement and had a good laugh. This is why all young women should be given a class that involves - among other things - reading Pride and Prejudice and being taught that at least one in ten men are predators that will lie, cheat, steal and intimidate to obtain short-term sex from a variety of ladies. Among their many tricks is to impersonate more boring men that are seeking LTRs. Of course, a significant portion of women will also get up to some amazing shit when it comes to sex...

Agree that the women's magazines are often filled with advice on how to lose weight, improve figures, get better hair and hairstyles, be in fashion, be sexy, on so on, and men's magazines are only catching up in those themes. Not arguing for or against, simply stating reality. Now the material on the interweb directed at men that is often included under the umbrella of red pill content is simply a regurgitation of that - bulk up at the gym, wear good clothes, appear confident, looks max your fac…

I don't agree that men's egos are more fragile than women's - in general I would argue that starting out at least both have fragile egos. Then, over time, perhaps one in ten or one in five men develop thick skins and build tremendous confidence by repeatedly approaching lots of women and succeeding in seducing many or some women. It's like any other kind of marketing or sales. Nothing succeeds like success. However, I think that you really nailed it when you said that many women don't understand…

Luck always plays a role, but how much is difficult to determine, especially when people can make their own luck. For example, someone living in a man camp in a North Dakota oil area can overcome the misfortune of being located in a place with almost no women by moving to a small city that has a huge surplus of women due to the presence of liberal arts colleges and health care facilities.

This is one good answer to a very complicated question. Some people are left in a vacuum when it comes to practical information about the behavior of the opposite sex. And others are fed completely crappy information about dating, sex, social interaction, etc.

Reading your comments on historical figures, it made me think about the prior exchange's allusion to how people like us (men who prefer LTRs even though casual sex is possible) don't exist in the eyes of a lot of people who comment here, and how many powerful or desired men chose not to be promiscuous. All you have to do is compare the US presidents, rock stars, or titans of industry to see that some make use of their positions to engage routinely in casual sex while others are far more selectiv…

Not sure what you mean about keeping up with you sexually. If you mean keeping up in terms of going to sex clubs, swinging, etc. that might be true. Generally, however, I don't think that promiscuity and sexual energy/perversions/etc. are highly correlated. Strange thread. A lot of these debates are especially confusing because as far as I can see there is no standardized definition of 'blue pill' and 'red pill'. Interesting thoughts, especially compared to most of the other stuff I've read in the past twenty minutes. I agree that marriage is a bad idea for almost everyone today. Although your concepts might be generally correct, there are of course many more nuances and complexities. I have a question. On which planet do you live? Most guys would prefer a relationship? This is totally incorrect. My guess is that perhaps twenty-five percent of men will always go for promiscuous sex, even if they're married or in a LTR. Sorry for the huge lag effect but sadly real life gets in the way and I often can't back to Reddit for a while. Life tends to be easier when you're in a LTR with a person with a similar body count and sexual history. For one thing, you can talk about your sex life openly without triggering jealousy, envy, disgust, morality or values type issues, and there are many advantages to being able to converse about anything and everything. These include: avoiding getting blindsided when something gets re…

Thank you for providing my first good real laugh of the day. Conspiracy theories about women? LOL. Sometimes when I've spent most of my occasional Reddit visits elsewhere and then go to this sub, I'll forget how naturally combative everyone is. What I was referring to was that the theme in the thread was about how many women will follow the dual dating/sex strategy AND NOT about how some women will inevitably change over time. Of course women, and men, will change over time as experiences, aging…

The fact that you don't have any strict or explicit rules implies that you're not going to be following the kind of dual dating/sexual strategy that is pissing off so many men. As you point out, someone complaining about your random timing/selection process is wasting his time and should be dismissed as a fool. But if you were following a strategy of acting one way with one class of people and another with a different group of people, a reasonable person could have a valid reason for being angry…

If your sexual conduct is a purely random function and you're totally honest about it, the kind of problem being cited here wouldn't exist - at least in your specific case. I don't think that's what is being discussed here. It's people that have duplicitous strategies to do con jobs on particular kinds of victims - in this case dual dating/sex strategies.

The problem is that there are large groups of men and women that are built differently in that they need to know someone relatively well before they can have enjoyable sex (and sex that's worth the various risks associated with it), and it makes the lives of those people much more difficult when others are impersonating them. Take a look at the postings in r/dating and r/datingoverthirty and so on and see the tremendous amount of frustration and anger about men acting like they want LTRs and the…

Yeah, but why do you want to be with someone who is incompatible with you? Find someone with similar kinks and similar number of past sexual partners, if you actually want a LTR. If you're honest and really luck out, you'll find someone that can be a long-term partner and let you have sex with other people (if that's what you want). There are all sorts of people that would like a woman that's into swinging, hotwifing, polyamory, open relationships, etc.

It's totally ridiculous and so common.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/24 08:04 AM

It's not about some sort of psychological evolution over time, it's about a dual strategy that lots of women use. That's what a lot of men find irritating. It's similar to many LTR-oriented women getting pissed off by men that impersonate LTR-oriented men so that they can pump and dump.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/24 07:56 AM

Yes. It's obviously best to find a compatible partner but it's far more difficult to do when huge numbers of people are duplicitous liars.

Maybe your views are not acceptable to many right now, but I think that they are entirely reasonable and relevant. Had to laugh about the anal sex reference because if that's true, it's so ridiculous on so many levels. I remember seeing interviews of women in Bali (mostly Australian, US, Canadian and British tourists) and several said that they would have sex immediately with a guy if he was hot but not boyfriend material but not with someone that they could get serious with. Given that they wer…

Rarely see such excellent advice on Reddit. The great advantage of meeting someone with potential at work is that you have lots of time to observe in an environment where someone isn't putting on an act and you're in a no pressure situation. One of the major disadvantages is of course that you don't want to poison your work environment by initiating something that turns into a disaster that can't easily be escaped, so only initiate something physical if and when you have a lot of confidence in s…

It is often subtle, but it is critically important. Interesting perspective. Numerous people have told me this. Depending on location, the ratio of men to women on OLD will often lead to men receiving connections with women with looks, backgrounds, personalities far inferior to what they might find in real life. Definitely points to a need for arbitrage for many if not most men... However, some guys do seem to excel at OLD and love it.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/24 07:50 AM
1

As you correctly point out, some people will do much better using specific approaches (OLD, social networks, cold approach, etc.). However, I would argue that for many if not most, social networks like work, school, friends, hobbies, churches, etc. will be much more useful for obtaining LTRs. OLD will likely be much better for hookups for most people. A lot depends on person and environment, though. Work is a great place to meet women if you're a guy working in a hospital with 70% female employe…

It's not the same thing. You are entirely correct that the accountability is a huge benefit to the social network approach. However, EulenWatcher has pointed out an even more important benefit of the social network approach. Meeting someone through school, work, friends, etc. will provide a tremendous amount of information in a very easy-going, non-interrogation type environment.

I disagree with the premise that the attractive nice person will always do better than the Dark Triad good looking person. In an environment of a robust social network, the good attractive person will likely do much better because news of his excellent character will spread and over time women will seek him out, whereas the evil attractive guy will find that news of his shitty behavior is being transmitted to more and more women. In an environment like online dating with weak or nonexistent soci…

No in this case you're missing the point. An average looking man who starts using PUA techniques can increase the amount of sexual activity he obtains, and a very good looking man can greatly increase the amount of sexual activity he obtains. Women appear to be doing much better according to many of the criteria that you are citing but in large part this is due to how society is structured. Previously men were sent out on their own to make their way economically while women were constrained and forced to stay at home or to become domestic workers in the care of others. Now women are benefiting from school systems that are geared to their needs while many young men are being left behind by school systems and are fed examples of terrib…

In many cases they try to hide it from their family and friends. Just go to r/sex and r/dating and similar subreddits and one sees it over and over. True about the Disney stuff but this is just one layer in many that are piled on top of young girls and women's heads. Add in several other layers including girl power, religious guilt, enjoy sex like a man, make sure you make enough money to be independent, only the beautiful are worthwhile, and smart girls marry rich (not to mention complete shit like dress up like a whore for the frat party when you're a freshman phase) and many women are thoroughly confused.

I think that you are correct in your central theme but I disagree with the breakdowns. After observing people for decades I would suggest that perhaps a third of women and maybe a quarter of men are naturally predisposed towards LTRs, and that perhaps a quarter of women and maybe a third of men are naturally predisposed towards casual sex and adventures. The remainder are hybrids that will change over time because of a huge range of factors (age, hormones, behavior of friends, opportunities, rel…

As you say, almost all dual income couples I know or knew had either one or two children because the demands were so great when the kids were young. Most of the people I knew with three kids had situations where both working parents had somewhat flexible working conditions - like a nurse married to a programmer or a physical therapist married to a fireman. Fascinating. Good explanation. I think that there are some similarities with what has happened in North America and Europe. People keep referring to the massive advantages conferred on men, and especially Caucasian men, but in reality most of those benefits were obtained by older men decades ago and young men face immense challenges. What you are saying simply reinforces what I am talking about. The current system would have to be dramatically revised to get the birthrate up. Interesting post, OP. However, your 'wall of text' and reliance on facts may disturb some. Many people want to focus on a fantasy of the 1950s and imagine a period that either didn't exist or a period that lasted for only a brief time. In many ways, the 1950s were a good time for specific groups. Housing was much cheaper because homes were smaller (1,500 sq.ft. was common), there was a lot of land available in certain growing areas like California, and there were fewer amenities in the homes (on…

You have hit on one of the most critical issues. Would it actually help if at fault divorces were implemented - would you actually trust the courts to take on this responsibility? Requirement of prenups might be one way of curbing most ridiculous aspects of divorce law. Totally revamping or perhaps scrapping of marriage laws would likely be better.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/24 07:53 AM
2

Largely agree. Wish it was replaced by a series of optional, voluntary legal agreements dealing with specific issues. Most people getting married don't have a clue about complex legal obligations/rules associated with their new status, and roughly half marriages fail. It should be revamped or scrapped. No fault versus at fault is only one small aspect of a huge, complicated mess that should be revisited...

But is a marriage really a contract for the benefit of the children in most jurisdictions in this day and age? Both parents are obligated to pay child support and both parents can request full or shared custody, whether they are married or not. Aren't most parent rights and obligations now established by DNA in disputed situations? Functionally at this point it seems to me that marriage largely serves two functions: a) Serves as a primitive system for reallocating assets at time of divorce and b…

A good question in this context would be: If the divorce was not a no-fault divorce, would it matter? Would a court actually be just in evaluating who would be at fault, or would it simply facilitate a game that benefits the more evil and duplicitous of the two parties? From what I've seen, it's usually the evil or selfish person that makes out the best, regardless of the theoretical legal framework.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/24 07:14 AM

Largely agree except with first point. Many opposed to no fault divorce are religious but there are others as well and they are often focused on contractual nature of marriage and the lack of enforcement of the contract. My experience has been that if you put ten people into a room and ask them what marriage is and what it is for, you will get ten different answers. Right now it appears to me to be little more than a crude mechanism for splitting assets accrued during marriage according to vario…

Sorry, not understanding your 2nd paragraph. Was the issue with the British NGO worker that she couldn't find Asian guys that she wanted to fuck, or that the Asian guys didn't want to fuck her? I have read and been told that North American/European women often have a difficult time finding men in certain parts of NE Asia because the men avoid them, whereas the same kind of women are pursued relentlessly by men in many African countries because they are seen as easy and exotic providers of sex (f…

No, I think its about more than the simp and his backbone (or lack thereof). Society has an interest in figuring out the origin of children, because if things blow up in the household the state is left responsible for caring for the children. Could also become key later on in an divorce, abandonment, separation, estate, etc. case - might as well get it over with in a standardized and affordable way. Also, I'm sick of the endless debate about the real numbers are...
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/24 07:30 AM

? I just said that I support mandatory testing at hospitals. Who said that it would be ridiculous to give fathers the same security as women? Not me. Most people are here bringing up the endless debate about what the true rates of paternity fraud are or going on about individual circumstances. I say do the testing and then we can see the true rates AND give fathers additional information.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/24 07:25 AM

Upside to mandatory paternity testing at birth: possibly an end to the ongoing debates on Reddit about what the true rates of paternity fraud are. Downside: Potentially less interesting 'Finding Your Roots' episodes in the future as certain women become more honest about origins of their children knowing that all will be revealed at the hospital shortly after birth.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/24 07:17 AM

It should be mandatory. It won't be long before they're testing every new baby for genetic related disease potential anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/05/24 07:10 AM

I have never heard of rates like 33% in any context, but I have heard of specific villages in Europe having very high rates (10-20%). One reason I would support mandatory and consistent paternity testing would be to stop the endless debate about what the actual numbers are.

Not sure if you're still reading new comments in this thread OP, or if you actually are seeking input, but I feel compelled to comment. Perhaps your perception is correct based on where you used to live or live now. I grew up in a large metropolitan area in the east and very few people I knew were concerned about having children at an early age. Then after moving across the country, and keeping up with those that I grew up with, I began to see couples that were having problems because they had waited until their 30s (often professional with multiple degrees who married late). I suspect that if I had grown up in Iowa or Utah my e…

We can have endless debates about how many women do what in their early twenties but there are no reasonable numbers on that. However, it is clear that many men and women either don't worry at all about getting married or equivalent until much later (not an issue/waiting to finish school/waiting for some future economic milestones) or are focusing exclusively on casual sex/similar while in their early 20s. This has gone on for several generations and is becoming more prevalent as indicated by th…

Meant medical intervention in getting pregnant. If you look at the statistics you will find that it is women in their late 30s and 40s who are getting most of the assistance in becoming pregnant. As for carrying to birth, I suspect that women in their 30s are overwhelmingly successful.

Generally agree except with two qualifications: Important to spend twenties figuring out what kind of partner is required for marriage/equivalent IF marriage/equivalent + children are sought in late 20s/early 30s. Bouncing around from hookup to hookup is inadequate for that. And, it can get difficult to have children in late 30s for a number of reasons. Where is this pressure coming from OP? You're 24, not 30. Your fertility concerns are generally valid (fertility falls after 30) but so are your concerns about finding a reasonable man and having a durable partnership (marriages among never married before with no prior children and degree holding after age 25 last much longer). It is much harder to find a person that you will be able to spend decades with happily than the rom-coms let on, but it is probably doable if you devote a lot of time (se…

A lot of this has to do with definitions, OP. I think its clear to most responders that being around someone a lot and liking them won't overcome an initial (and lasting) lack of physical attractiveness. However, there are a lot of issues at play when it comes to making first choices. I'll give an example. Largely true. If someone is ugly, he/she is ugly. But what if she pisses you off with one or two statements initially, and then as time goes you realize that it was out of context or didn't really matter or whatever? Women are notorious for getting the 'ick' initially over small things.

Interesting perspective. I suspect that all successful couples at least had a minimum threshold attraction when they met. I agree that many women can be motivated to go for the 'o.k.' or 'cute' guy over the 'hot' guy if they really appreciate the o.k./cute guy's personality/character. This is different from choosing someone that one has NO attraction for, which is a bad situation about to get worse..

However, if you were offered a choice between a 9 on 10 looks woman that was a narcissistic, manipulative and evil woman that has history of betraying and even destroying men, and a 8 on 10 woman that is known to be an excellent, kind, horny, dependable and generous woman, which would you choose? I believe attraction can and does grow for many people over time - especially among women. Also, a big problem is not so much lack of physical attraction but 'ick' factors that might be exaggerated. Women in particular (but also men) will say things like 'I couldn't believe he said that he likes yellow...' or 'did you see the shoes he was wearing?' In some cases these are deal breakers, but in most cases they're not when the overall person is considered in a measured way weeks or months later. I…

Interesting comments and you are correct about the drop in spontaneous desire in men and women (especially women) after 6 to 24 months at the end of the new relationship energy or bunny phase. While it doesn't fit well with the rom-com/Disney 'happily ever after' story of marriage, the reality is that an entirely new phase of intimacy/exploration/innovation must take place. Admirable devotion to your woman. I would guess that the percentage of couples where the woman orgasms more than men is far greater than 5%. Many women can have multiple orgasms with the right kind of stimulation whereas many if not most men can't. So, many couples will have women that never or rarely orgasm because its so difficult for the woman to come OR the man isn't capable of inducing them, and many couples will have women that orgasm repeatedly while the man only comes once or twice. It is undoubtedly true that some men are terrible lovers. What proportion can be debated. The focus on the PIV priority is also another issue to be evaluated separately. Most of the previous comments indicate that early sex (first through third meeting) is standard approach to any sort of connection (just sex, FWB, follow-up relationship), so logic would dictate that anyone waiting around longer is wasting his/her time. What if you meet a woman at work or school or in a hobby? Same process? Also, it sounds like the first couple of hours are critical to everything that follows. It seems like there's a great divide in terms of women's opinions on various subreddits - large numbers take your position and large numbers take the position that casual sex is great and they want it and are entitled to it. Curious about caused you to back off the most: your worries about becoming entangled with some women that potentially have lots of problems or a lack of desire to have sex with two semi-strangers? Some men simply don't want casual sex (original posting). Others are worried about known or potential by-products.

Yes. Most people will try it if they have the opportunity, especially if people are drinking. Some religious people will resist. However, many will back off quickly when they realize what its all about. People who are in a very egalitarian environment who manage to hook up with great people and maybe even start LTRs will think its really good, even if they're LTR oriented. Some high schools and colleges are like that. Most environments aren't like that.

I disagree. What you describe happens a lot but there are large numbers of people that don't fit into this group. Most of the successful predatory guys I knew when younger were not interested in any kind of LTR and went years and years (sometimes decades) without deviating from their general strategies of only casual sex. Lots of women now have have dual track strategies that you can read about or see all over. I was reading one thread on r/dating a few days ago and I was amazed that women were …

You sound a lot like a lot of women I knew back in the day and read about now in other subreddits. You cycled into one or more casual sex phases but generally were uneasy with it and wanted LTRs. Most guys I knew either evolved into an adventurer (goes with flow) or predator (manipulative) after some success with casual sex, never really wanted casual sex, or gave up after not getting any. But must be lots like you though...

Correct, except that large numbers of women that aren't into casual sex try to go on the apps but then quickly become disillusioned and then give up on OLD. They either focus on real world dating, trying to take up new hobbies, etc. or withdraw completely from active dating. There are so many postings and comments in other subreddits by pissed off women that hate the pump and dump culture and but say they want LTRs...

Many men, and women, are built like this. However, its too complicated for most people on Reddit to comprehend.

Generally correct, although regular guys can be in the right place at right time, especially when bars or travel (e.g. Mexico during Spring Break) is involved.

If all women followed your pattern no one would ever bring up the 80/20 rule in dating/sex discussions. In places, communities, groups, etc. where most women share your attitude, 80/20 would obviously be irrelevant (referring to your other post). However, in many places, communities, etc. most of the women don't act like you as you can see from some other comments. Not sure I understand your second statement (not being bitchy). Why would you have higher standards for relationships when casual se…

Good comments. There is a tremendous amount of simplification in these debates. Some men are able to obtain a lot of casual sex by doing not much of anything because they're good looking and high status. Some men are able to obtain a lot of casual sex by being very manipulative and outgoing. And apparently according to you some men are able to obtain a lot of casual sex use and provide coke and are charismatic. I suspect you're correct.

Thanks for your comments. Had a good laugh from your 'willfully ignorant' reference. It definitely seems like people have very established opinions on certain things. I thought that my posting would be ignored or would have a few neutral or nuanced comments. I was very surprised at the 'you have no valid data' assertion (which is true, but no one has any good data as far as I can see) and the suggestion that I'm trying to bash women. I don't really see this as a 'battle of the sexes' type of iss…

You might be right about the selection bias. I might have been delusional the whole time and might be misinterpreting everything. And I have no hard data to prove anything to anyone, so there's no use arguing it. Not sure what you meant when you said that I didn't know if each guy was wheeling 2 or 10 at once. No, I didn't track the movements of the people that I'm referring to. What I can tell you is this. Outside of LTRs, which is a whole different ballgame, I knew a few guys that were routine…

Yes, the 80/20 rule is an extreme generalization and I have no idea what the true ratio is but I know that it's 10/90, 20/80, or 30/70 in many situations because I've seen it - both in viewing what younger generations deal with on Tinder and Bumble (I've actually seen accounts of younger males/females and been amazed) and what I've seen and experienced in bars and clubs in the 1980s and 1990s (usually as an observer since I'm a boring serial monogamist who's been with girlfriends or my wife sinc…

Not just Saudi Arabia. I suspect that the majority of marriages/LTRs in western Turkey, parts of Jamaica, Bali, and other locations with high levels of prostitution involving foreigners and/or female sex tourism also will have males with more past partners than the females. I wonder about places like Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland that have a very egalitarian, sex positive approach, and I have no idea how it all works out in places like Japan and South Korea where sexual activity seems to b…

I trust certain types of data (births, marriages, STIs, etc.) but not most numbers I've seen on sexual behavior. Women lie and so do men. I threw out numbers with question marks as examples. Maybe they're totally wrong. Maybe what I've suggested is totally false. I'm only asking something on Reddit, not trying to argue a doctoral thesis or make public policy. I knew that if I posted this on certain other subs everyone would agree/support and that if I posted on certain other subs everyone would …

Thanks for your comments. I have no data to studies to support or challenge what I wrote. I trust studies/data I've seen on births/deaths/marriages/STIs but not studies/data I've seen on sexual history/activity because it seems so different from everything I've seen and experienced. I lean this way after many decades of experience, observing people, reading extensively and especially now reading postings and replies in numerous Reddit subs. I readily agree that plenty of people have thought abou…
