I'd say yes, to a degree. People will use you and if they have no need for you, either at the moment or in the long run, they'll ignore you. This sentiment is directed to women mostly on how they treat men. If you earn 60k and another guy takes home 200k, who's gonna win the date with the cute lady? Ain't the former.
