I guess what I would add in addition to all the "get better friends" stuff (which has merit, mind you. Friends shouldn't belittle you, ever) is to think about WHY you are doing what you are doing. So lets see. In society, PUA's are considered "liars, scam artists, shallow, etc...". Bodybuilders are "dedicated, take care of themselves, healthy, admirable". And yet on a thread showing a below average looking guy with hot girls, the PUA's are saying "good for him, way to go, this kid is an inspiration", while the bodybuilders are saying "gotta be rich, the gay best friend, must be hung". But yeah, PUA's are the shitty people >.>

Thats another really good way to think about it. Because you're right, it does work both ways. It's hard to have confidence in one area of your life and not have it in another. It doesn't really work like that.
