I agree, which is another reason why typically only really attractive women become famous. There are other aspects as well, such as when they spend tons of money and effort on looking good almost anyone can.

But if you're talking about women on the whole, shouldn't those women be the rule and not the exception? My point is that they are the exception, so I don't think the fact that they are projectable doesn't lend itself much information on women as a whole.

There's a reason Bella in Twilight and the main character in 50 Shades are plain looking, middle-of-the-road women. I don't think that's a very good argument. Aren't there a multitude of counter examples of very attractive female celebrities? Especially when you look at movies, there aren't very many famous celebrities who are women and not attractive.

Women were more active politically before suffrage? That's the time frame I was referring to. And if politicians always catered to the Feminists, why did the equal rights amendment never get passed?

I think you have to be careful with assumptions like this with evolutionary psychology. It's a complex process.

I would just like everyone to remember that fantasizing about being raped and actually wanting to be raped are two different things. I agree about the assertive part, though I think a lot of men like assertive women too.

They wanted equality now they can have it and all the responsibilities that entails, including the death of chivalry. I'm kind of startled by this philosophy. Did men really give women equality out of the kindness of our hearts? Or did they rise up and take it after eons of physical abuse, lack of power, and sexual violence.

Did you really just call me sweetie? You have to answer me truthfully here. Are you assuming I'm a woman?

If they have to "maintain" their power, then they don't really have meaningful power. The whole point of being powerful is to be able to control your surroundings. This is a tautology. If your definition of power is that they are so strong that they don't need violence to maintain power than of course the 'powerful' are never going to be violent. Abuser doesn't have to use power but they do ALL THE TIME. I think that's the point, they choose to use their violence as a means of control. If you ca…

Mobsters don't seem to use violence as a last resort, same as gangs. I don't knlw why you don't think abuse is violence but they don't either. Warlords in failed states are quite open about their use of violence to use and extend their power, and they are clearly the relative strongest in those situations. Pirates use violence. You don't like the analogy but nation states and countries since the beginning of time use violence to maintain power, both against their own people and against others (I…

That's a terrible analogy. I wish people would stop comparing warfare between countries with bar fights. It's childish and ignorant. It's not even remotely true. Look at a map of armed conflict and place it on a map of poverty areas. Fine I was initially just going to use domestic abuse as an analogy anyway. It doesn't really matter but violence is used for control in lots of situations so I don't think it always comes from people with less power. In fact, most of the most powerful people in the…

I looked it up but the statistics seem to indicate otherwise, could you point me in the proper place?

I think we've said all that needed to be said on the matter. Except that you misrepresented a lot of what I said. What is this? - The school playground? - "I'll only agree with you if you agree with me!" Saaaaaad. For instance this. I said, if you agree with me then I agree with you. Not, if you WILL agree with me then I will agree with you. The post you responded to was responding to another comment, one which I was challenging. When you posted it wasn't clear if you were defending him or not, …

Haha I've never seen someone so confronational after the other person says they probably agree with them. I'm on my phone right now bit but I'll respond to you when I get back in a couple days.

Alright if we're in agreement on that then I might agree with your other points. I haven't fully thought it out but I most likely agree with you. Though it might be a bit much to attribute all causes of violence to a weakness and not just most, unless you defined weakness in such a broad way that included resorting to violence, which would be a tautology.

Even if what you say is true, it still wouldn't prove the original point which is that men are oppressed being proven by them being more violent.
/r/MensRights20/09/13 01:35 PM

A fair point, sort of. It's true but one of many pieces in a very complex puzzle. And certainly doesn't prove his point. He suggests ultimately that men are more oppressed than women (or have less power than them) because they are more violent. This is very much not the case. A perfect example would be a case of domestic violence. No one would assume the abuser has less power than the person they are abusing. They are using violence to remain in power, the same way many powerful countries use vi…

I mean, to me it seems like the difference is in whether or not you agree with it. You're calling feminism whining because you disagree with them. Whereas you agree with yourself so you are complaining. That's why I think it's a weird thing to complain about feminism in that way.

A very revealing fact is that with men, violence is inversely proportional to how powerful they are. Do you have a citation for this? Because it sounds kind of made up. But even if it's true then this men's greater likelihood to be violent is an indication of their hardship and lack of power in general. is not a logical conclusion because there are different types of power and different responses to it. In addition correlation is not equal to causation, and there are many many causes for violenc…

I think there's a big misinterpretation going on here. The feminist response was responding to commenters on facebook saying that "this article is actually making fun of women who claim that men are intimidated by their intelligence." Everyone agrees the commenters are wrong, the article is obviously about an idiot who thinks he's so smart he scares women away. It took me the longest time to figure this out because of the way everything was phrased in the two forums.

Groping is a form of sexual assault. Men and women definitely both get groped at clubs. I've never heard of a man or woman reporting to the police that they got groped at a club, unless it was very severe. I do agree in general that men wouldn't report sexual assault for the reasons you cited. It's probably in lower numbers than women though I haven't looked at the numbers. Actually you know what I reread that study and it is actually 18% that have been raped, not just sexually assaulted. I bett…

So let's firstly recall that I did not say 18% of women were raped, I said they were sexually assaulted. However 18% are raped according to the study. Incidentally your distinction is irrelevant to the discussion because many of the threats against feminists on twitter were sexual assault and not rape (I don't know what definition exists in your head, but I'm guessing you think rape is forcible penetration whereas sexual assault includes groping). Maybe you should read my post and think about wh…

The blog demonizes men but I don't think it's indicative of women everywhere demonizing men. I agree with this, like I said, the blog is stupid and I think we're in agreement.

Yes I agree that it's offensive and ridiculous to say he needs to be castrated for taking too much space (he even wasn't taking that much space). I also think the blog is stupid. But the jump of logic from one stupid blog to implying it is a way women demonize men is what I have an issue with. If that wasn't what you're suggesting than I agree with you, the blog is stupid. Likewise the comment I was responding to is suggesting a media bias because of the lack of public outcry of a commenter who …

I mean, aren't you complaining about feminism here? Isn't that whining too? Seems like an odd thing to complain about regarding feminism.

Ah yes feminist statistics from the Department of Justice My first point (which is that it was only one person making the example) has also not been addressed.

Oh you mean the ONE commentator that called for him to be castrated? In addition I feel like this is a false comparison, about 18% of women are actual victims of sexual assault rape (which is why this evoked such a stronger response) whereas male castration is much lower.
