No, lowering your standards is NOT the way to go. Instead LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS. Absolutely DO try to pick up women you think are hot and/or out of your league but don't expect to get a date right away. Not delusional at all as long as you have the confidence (without being obnoxiously overconfident) and ability to read/match body language, the pick-up art is easy to learn. It's actually not bad at all - I like how it's NOT cognitively draining unlike some of the classic programs such as Speed Seduction which is extremely demanding on a cognitive level. PUA programs are courses you can purchase online or seminars you pay to attend. Classic example include Speed Seduction by Ross Jeffreys, Mystery Method, Double Your Dating, and many others. Speed Seduction is cognitively draining so I don't recommend. Yes, all that info is out there but scattered all over the place on the net and/or hiding in plain sight, and bringing everything together is a bit of work.

In theory, any place can be a pick-up place whether or not they are hot spots: on a subway, college campus, grocery store, coffee shop, etc. But different places also require different methods of pick-up. I ask this question because I gone through a few PU Arts programs and while they do mention various places, I have yet to see one mention a dog park in particular even though dog parks are becoming very popular hangouts for condo dwellers with dogs in urban settings this day and age.

To be fair, the Obsession Method course is much newer more adapted to today's world than the older PUA courses like Mystery, DYD, and Speed Seduction as those were first introduced in a different time when texting wasn't a "thing", people were not glued to their phones when out and about, and manners/etiquette was a lot different from today.
