3	York students solve sex crimes with mandatory women’s studies I hadn't thought about it that way. It would be too inappropriate (and maybe even difficult/impossible to do) to single out students from areas where the social norms are significantly different and have just them take the course. To be honest, the first comment frasoftw listed is close to what the ideal response should be. Don't take the situation at face value. The commenter listed both extremes as possibilities, and as far as we know either could be true. Neither option excuses the behavior, but it is important to learn more about the situation before throwing our weight behind one direction or another. 2	Why should male gamers change their behavior? I fully agree. I think the OP's question is flawed because of that. I do think that gamer culture needs to change. Not to purely please females (OP suggests that's why we are being asked to change), but because "Gamer culture" tends to contain a substantially larger percentage of jackasses than other cultural groups (or at the very least, our jackasses [emboldened by anonymity] are significantly more vocal). That's what happens when the majority of the audience (in circles where this kind of trash talking is a problem) are young males. However, that is the precise reason they get harassed about their gender: it's different from the perceived "norm".
